So there me and my wife were eating pho around the corner from our house and my wife is looking at the TV and she is all "what are they doing to that bat?." The place was apparently playing some Vietnamese cooking show and there are two guys holding a bat in some alleyway.  Pretty soon our curiosity turned to outright disgust as the guys on the show started sawing off the screeching bat's wings and collecting the blood for some fucked up beverage.  I nearly threw up on the table and my wife was nearly in tears and also about to throw up.  No one else in the restaurant thought this inappropriate entertainment.

Every time I've tried to give Viet food a chance I've been absolutely disgusted... whether by the filth in the restaurant, either bland or gross tasting food, I dunno. Everybody raves about stuff like pho and banh mi, so I feel like I'm missing out but I dunno. Stories like this aren't gonna make me change my mind.
