Intel i7 930 2.8 ghz @ 3.7 ghz
Asus PT6 SE 1336 X58
Gigabyte Geforce 460 GTX 1GB DX11 card
16 GB DDR3 RAM @ 1800mhz
24" Dell monitor
1 TB Samsung HDD
Windows 7 64 bit
So what is the most demanding PC games today? Still crysis?
-
I'll second Metro 2033. It can get pretty damned scary too. As far as I know Crysis is still the benchmark. I can run everything at max but with Crysis I have to tweak a lot of the settings to get a solid frame rate.
-
What do you need 16GB of ram for?
1GB HD :teehee
-
Mafia 2 on high is probably the best looking pc game out there. It's amazing.

- No Halo Reach
That's a positive as far as I'm concerned.

Sounds like HEMAD
-
Nah man. Too busy playing PC games to be mad. 8)
-
you're not gonna max out metro 2033 on any card out there and get satisfactory framerates
-
I'd get hard for Halo Reach PC -- no lie
and Metro 2033 is probably the game to test your beefy new PC. I think the optimal settings for ram was "as much as you've got" or something. I only played the demo and wasn't that mpressed. To me it seemed more like one of those games that renders everything and ignores the bigger picture of what matters when you play. It's like Cryostasis; you can't tell if it is incredibly unoptimized or they are going crazy on every detail.
-
pretty boss rig, btw
i just ordered an i5-760/EVGA SLI Mobo combo and the MSI Cyclone GTX 460 1GB myself, ordering case/psu/ram tonight

the only thing metro 2033 does is make you feel bad about the money you spent on your rig, because you're never going to be able to get good results at max settings
you can make it look better than any console, but nothing out there will push it acceptably at high resolutions

Give me a hollar if you get L4D1 or 2, Santa.
-
16gb of RAM seems like overkill but whatever to get the job done i guess.
-
Is there anything that even uses half of that?

it's for virtual servers also like Hyper-V. Not just a gaming PC.
