Title: 360 Headset Q
Post by: GilloD on October 04, 2010, 08:58:26 PM

Would a headset like the one with the 2 ears carry game audio, too? I can't see it NOT doing so, but I haven't purchased a headset in like forever. I don't wanna buy a headset and have it like. Just be 2 ears for chat, haha.

If it acts as headphones it should. Looks like a Turtle Beach headset (though its Korean so will break in a week)

I have that headset. My cousin was in China for a few months and he gave me his headset when he came back because I broke mine. It doesn't carry game audio at all (at least not in MW2 or Reach), so I only let it cover my left ear.

Astro a40 and a30 are what most 'hardcore' gamers use for a headset, works with pc, ps3 and 360 as a headset and 5.1 digital surround headphones + has a mixer you need to buy to use them which can plug other inputs into to like an iPod etc. Amazing kit, Tritton do a similar thing with the AXPROs but they're pieces of shit in comparison. Break easily etc.

Hahaha. They cost as much as the fucking system. You'd have to literally have no friends to justify that price.

Apparently Trittons low end universal headset is good and cheaper than the turtle beach x1's with better sound. Uncomfortable after a while though apparently.

How about something from Steelseries?

Is there a decent one for 360 for around 100 bucks? I was going to invest in a surround system, then realized that most of my gaming is when the kids are asleep, so I'd probably never really crank it up. Headphones are great, but without being able to use the mic easily, it's a crapfest.

Thank you. How did the sound quality compare with other "name brand" headphones, say Sony, JVC, or Sennheiser?

I am looking for a good pair as well (some that won't break the bank would be nice).

The new SteelSeries Spectrum 5XB look pretty nice - they work as a great pc headset as well apparently.

I was about to say how silly I'd feel wearing a wired headset with a wireless controller, but then realized it would be the same as when I've worn headphones attached to the TV -- except that I'll be able to use voicechat.

The Trittons have some comments on Amazon pointing to a poor build quality. Apparently they get a crappy connection with the mic over time. I'll read up on other sites about them; if I find out anything extra, I'll post here.

The wireless thing is a dead deal for me due to the cost....wanting 200 dollars for the wireless headsets it bullshit seeing as you can get a pretty good set of Sennheiser wireless headphones for less than 100.

^ Yeah these look/sound awesome, well built (watch the vids on their site) good sound apparently etc and not too expensive.

I am thinking about buying a pair just because they can do double duty on 360 and pc.  90 isn't too much to spend as long as they are durable - which they look to be.

I think you've provided a winner. Thanks!

FWIW, I'm re-placing my order for the SteelSeries Spectrum 5XB. The last time, it delayed my order going out for five days without any clear indication why. Amazon itself is sold out right now, I'm ordering through a different marketplace seller this time.

i honestly havent even opened it up yet, partially due to laziness but mostly due to the fact that if something were to go bump in the night i would be completely oblivious until it was too late, im the man of my abode and take pride in that fact, back to best buy, i guess
