So I get this question from this dude after I listed my auction this afternoon:
Q: Is this a refurbished item? You say you won't accept returns, what happens if the item is defective??
I explain that it's my own personal item, it isn't a refurb, and that it wouldn't be defective (I really need to change my username to something that doesn't sound like a business or store name - it's just a leftover from that T-shirt bullshit I wasted my time on a few years ago, but it makes everyone think I'm a reseller).
So he buys it but leaves me this note:
I am going to trust you and hope everything goes well because you don't accept RETURNS.
Emphasis his. I get the feeling this guy is just fishing for an excuse to try it out and send it back on my dime. According to ebay rules there really is no such thing as a no return policy, and they'll snatch the money right out of your paypal account and refund someone if they complain (this recently happened to a friend of mine, who's now out $35 as well as the stuff he sent). So I'm wondering if I should even bother, whether I should just refund the guy, relist, and take any feedback knocks he gives. What do you all think?
-
what item.
-
iPod Touch
-
How much were you selling it for, and what gen?
-
32GB 3rd Gen, $180 with two cases (one hard acrylic and one silicone) and a pack of screen protectors
-
if you decide to return the bidder's money I'm definitely interested. Are you flexible on the price at all?
-
sure, $160 + shipping, it's what i would clear off ebay after fees
-
hmm, well, don't have the funds right now, phone bill's this week. Don't wait on me, but I'd be cautious with this buyer you've got.
-
It could just be a guy who's cautios on buying a used iPod Touch online, and seeing "no returns" means he might get a bunk iPod he can't return. You should have made a youtube vid showing the iPod working. IMO anyway.
-
use your ipod touch for a few years, until it has no resale value and then just buy a new one. Less hassle then constantly trying to sell your stuff cause you always want the latest new thing.
-
well that certainly is good advice for someone who's already sold it
-
Go through with the sale. Does the guy have a good # of feedback?

i have a spotless ebay record, and i've sold several high dollar items on there in the past couple of months where the links could still be clicked, i figured that plus close-up pics and one with it turned on was good enough

he's got 14
you're probably right, i'm just remembering that dude sending me back that $180 comic with no warning and causing a bunch of hassle

you're welecome :dur
-
well comics are more of a fragile sale than an iPod Touch. it either works or it doesnt.
-
What's the policy for canceling a completed auction? Is there money involved? Tell the guy he can cancel the order if he's feeling dodgy.
-
already mailed, hope he's not a dick
-
Well, do you know if this is the guy you sold it to?

yep, same guy
-
:( He's a dick
-
wait, i think i understand what you're asking now
this isn't the same guy who bought the comic
i just don't care for his attitude
-
I was just making a Dick Tracy joke :lol
