So my audio receiver died this weekend and I'm looking for a replacement in the 300-500 dollar range. I want a 7.1 with HDMI passthrough. Preferrably standby passthrough. Same with audio standby pass through. Don't care about xm or sirius. What are some other features i should have?
An Onkyo 508 seems to be a pretty good deal and it has the audio pass through, but I don't think it has the video pass through. But I'm willing to pass up video passthrough because it's only 250 bucks. Any other suggestions?

I think in this price segment these two ought to do the trick. Not sure though, educate yourself. These two are just recommendations from a friend.
Onkyo TX-SR608
Pioneer VSX-920
The Onkyo makes your power company happy when in pass-through standby. Supports 7.2 and HDMI 1.4a though. The pioneer has a tiny bit less oomph and features, but comes with limited webstream radio capabilities.
Both offer a pretty good price/performance ratio, or so I'm told.
