Well... It's a Vizio. Never had one personally, but I know they're not considered the best of quality. Plus, 3 of the 5 reviewers bitched and said they'd never buy one again.

We bought the same size Samsung for the same price last year, so I'm sure you can find something reasonable out there. If not, go for it and stick it in your bedroom later when you get a better TV. :hyper

Yea, I wasn't sure about Vizio. I've been hunting for Sharp/Samsung promos but a friend forwarded me this.

I've never heard of Vizio before; they're used on TV in Leverage's Ops Room for their video wall. The product placement is weirdly overt.

Not sure how much better Proscan is over Vizio (can it be worse?) but there's one on Walmart's website, same general specs for $20 cheaper. Didn't look at all the specs (iPhone  :'(), but same size, hz, 1080p. And over 100 ratings (mostly 5 stars). Hopefully that can give you a little more insight than the thoughts of 8 Vizio purchasers/toothless Walmart shoppers (which I'm not even sure most of the Vizio reviewers were even talking about that model...)

http://www.walmart.com/ip/ProScan-42LED55SA/14053381?adid=1500000000000012981640 (http://www.walmart.com/ip/ProScan-42LED55SA/14053381?adid=1500000000000012981640)

I looked at a bunch of other LED-LCD and they're still a little higher than those prices, so it is a decent deal. And with Walmart's warranty and return policy, you have 3 years to turn it in if you have problems with it, so it might be worth it if you want LED. If you're willing to go regular LCD though, you can totally get better quality for the same price or possibly cheaper.

If you look at old store displays next to other sets, it's pretty obvious that it happens, but in my experience, you generally aren't able to really see the change in your set unless you do a side-by-side comparison with a new one, compare light meter readings, or are a paranoid delusional freak.

Good to know about Walmarts return policy.

Can you recommend a 42-46 inch regular LCD model?

I'm looking at an 8 foot viewing distance.

It's really a shame Pioneer isn't in the TV market anymore. :(

Panasonic plasmas seem like the next best thing though, I recommended my brother buy one and he loves it.

That's Walmart's 3 year warranty, not necessarily the return policy, but with the warranty, they'll work on it first, send you a refurb, and if you bitch, give you a gift card for the price. Haven't had problems with any electronics until halfway through the 2nd year so I was past the return policy.

Here's a 42" Philips for $578, same specs as you've been looking at, just not LED.

http://www.walmart.com/ip/Philips-42-42PFL5704D-F7/11089876?adid=1500000000000012981640 (http://www.walmart.com/ip/Philips-42-42PFL5704D-F7/11089876?adid=1500000000000012981640)

Here's a similar Philips with a better contrast ratio. Maybe there's other stuff but I'm browsing on mobile so who knows. I's about $650.

http://www.walmart.com/ip/Philips-42PFL7704D-F7/14961940?adid=1500000000000012981640 (http://www.walmart.com/ip/Philips-42PFL7704D-F7/14961940?adid=1500000000000012981640)

If you want a 46" they're about $100 more. As long as you stick with major brands at Walmart, you should be ok. I bought my last Nikon through their website and shipped to store for free, and Best Buy couldn't even price match it. Fucking Walmart. Can't escape their god damn deals.  Go on without me guys, they have this tool set for 9.98. :'(

Better than Vizio, and cheaper than any Samsungs, Sonys, LGs, etc I'm finding. It all depends on what you want to spend and what size you want to get, and I'm not sure how much you really want to spend.

Fuck you guys. :lol I'm not seeing any links from anybody else and I'm browsing from my POS iPhone!

i must either be a technical wizard or my vizio got switched up at the factory or something, because im comparing it with a sony fucking bravia with almost identical results - at least on 360

i think the cats above me are just spitting from hearsay and dont have any experience with a properly calibrated vizio (if at all)

I saw a 50 or 55 inch Panny plasma in Costco for $1400 last week. I paid $1200 for my 42 inch. Yeah it was 3 years ago, but still. :maf

The LED TVs there at the same size ranged from $2000 to $3000+. ::)

I'd spend $700-800 but less is always better. I figure this is the month to find a bargain, if I can nail down the model I want.

wtf?  there's not anything wrong with Phillips.  Especially if you're considering true budget brands like Vizio.  Goddamn I hate elitist tech nerds.

The number one rule of thumb with TV's... Go to a store and look at them playing something.  That's the only way you'll know if you'll be happy.

Everything I had heard indicated that Vizio was actually becoming more competitive with the larger brands. The Vizio I owned was actually recommended to me over EVERY other LCD that was on the market at the moment. Of course, that might be because it was a 32" Plasma, but still, worth every penny so far.

Even now, there are one or two Vizios (at Walmart, no less) that are still better than some of the similarly priced TVs at the same price. You just have to look for them.

And seriously Admiral, look at the specs on that TV and look at other TVs that are similarly priced. For one, you aren't getting a fucking better deal than a LED that fucking cheap. I actually was tempted to apply for a credit card and buy one.

IT'S AN LED TV FOR SUB $1000. In fact, the same TV was over $1000 a few weeks ago. DU EET

I won't go so far as to say you won't find a better deal on a better tv.  Pay attention to slickdeals.  Dell has some killer deals.

Looking at slickdeals, just earlier today there was a 42 inch sharp aquos 120 hz led lcd tv for 650.  Just do some patient shopping and check slickdeals.  TV's are not impulse purchases.
