My dad's computer can't properly boot up. The hdd makes weird sounds when i boot the computer.

It's dying /near death.
It's a common thing.

drive head and/or platter is out of alignment. get a new drive. this is one of those cases where if he NEEDS the data on that drive and the problem is advanced, he's gonna be sending it to a data recovery place.
