I hate Christmas music with a passion.  Nobody makes good Christmas music anymore, so they just shove the old shit down your throat.  It's every-fucking-where.

Sufjan's boxset is actually really good, as far as Christmas songs by pop artists are concerned.

Of course, that isn't terribly difficult when the competition is shit like this:

ROFL

I remember the place I worked played the Destiny's Child Christmas album.  Holy shit it was bad.  It sounded less like singing and more like warbling.  I can imagine the Now That's What I Call Christmas 4 CD is much worse.

Holy Fuck. Giving that as a present to a person with an ounce of musical taste must be like the modern version of gifting a lump of coal.

Also love how the tracklist is a who's who of artists ruining Christmas classics. Good jon, modern music.

My neighbors (a bunch of recently graduated University of Washington young republican frat boys) vomited Christmas all over their house the day after the Halloween. Their fence is wrapped in red ribbon, the lights are up, and there are gigantic inflatable Santa and Frosty's on their front porch. I love Christmas, but November 1st? Really? And learn how to decorate... smh.

But seriously, almost any carol that pre-dates the 20th Century is fucking GORGEOUS. Too many to name, and even if you aren't religious they still tug at your gut. Also:

One great thing about being in Korea for Christmas this year is that I don't have to hear Wonderful Christmas Time on a constant loop in every restaurant, store and shopping mall I enter for the next three months.
