You guys have any ideas on how to boost the signal a bit? Downloads are at 150 kb/s max now, which is killing me.
Thanks in advance!

What are you using? I got my dad a usb wifi adapter for his laptop. Modem/router are downstairs, his laptop has perfect signal from upstairs and even on the deck outside
-
802.11g speedtouch that came with my internet/interactive tv, the card seems to be: Dell Wireless 1397 WLAN Mini-Card.
What kind of usb wifi adapter would work better than the built in one?
I'll look into the tin foil constructions, some nice arts and crafts for a sunday.
@Tieno, I did put together a computer room today, which included building a desk, that's something at least.
-
What type of modem/router do you have?
-
Thomson Speedtouch

the nerds might have to help you bro. dunno if a Linksys usb adapter (or another brand) works with that, although I'd imagine it would right? Can't find a specific one for that brand

Could always buy a newer better router...
[edit] It is the holiday season. Might be a good time to find one. Sell the old one to pay for part of the cost.

imdont care

It's a modem/wireless router combination that comes with my internet and tv contract, I don't think I can get rid of it.

Even your wifi signal doesn't want to get anywhere near you. Poor Rebiak :'(

Things you can try:
1- N router + N USB wifi usb adapter for the laptop.
2- Wireless range extender/repeater.
3- Powerline adapters.

I'll look into 2 and 3!
Funny thing, if I switch off the TV, the download speed goes up threefold!
The router is in a corner besides the TV, so it's probably suffering from the electromagnetic field?
-
You could also be experiencing interference from any older wireless phones, or even microwave oven activity. I get pretty good wireless connectivity until my wife decides to warm up something in the oven.
-
We don't have a phone, and the microwave is not even plugged in.
I wouldn't know how to use a n router and still have my adsl and internet tv work.

or...since they are both part of the same cable deal, maybe your cable co is just screwing you by using your 'Internet' bandwidth for 'TV'?
