Sega’s just announced Binary Domain, the new robot shooter from Yakuza creator Toshihiro Nagoshi that was revealed in Famitsu at the start of the week.
The game takes place in 2080 in Tokyo during a conflict between humans and robots, where the city has been split into two: rich and poor, the latter of which represents what the city looks like now with more destruction.

hmm
Binary Domain...sounds like a shooter
-
I know it's the Yakuza team and it's probably going to be okay, but man am I ever getting Quantum Theory vibes off this.
-
ahahahahaha that trailer is amazing
-
Meh, looks completely generic and uninspired. If it's either a cover-based shooter or a co-op focused game, I'll have zero interest in this.
-
SEGA?
Pass.

Name is stupid, nobody in the West is going to buy a game named "Binary Domain"...sounds like some math game
-
I'm so not grooving on the robot designs. Not sure why, but they seem really uninspired.
-
gears of terminators
-
that "japanese" game looks so western it makes me feel sick inside :-\
-
also the boss robot looks like it has a giant wang

That's how you can tell it was developed in Japan.
-
so, a Sega-published Japanese shooter where you're fighting against robots. Why is that so familiar?
I guess what sets it apart is that now blacks and women can fight in the war instead of being hidden or support. That woman on the team might be asian too! Nagoshi is all about equality...except for Koreans.
-
What were they thinking with the name? I don't have to know anything at all about the game and I can guarantee you right now that it's gonna be an epic bomb in the west, all because of the name. Who's making these decisions? It's such a basic yet critical part of a game's success and you name it like the worst possible thing ever... and it's supposed to be targeted for us Shitttamericans too. Ridic..
-
hey a japanese shooter :derp
-
Someone on GAF pointed out that the main cast is the same as that of Daikatana

Pure trash. I can't believe they released that trailer. Those Haloid and Dead Fantasy vids look light years better than this shit.
-
This just looks like looks like knock-off i, Robot.
Is what I see.
-
Its from Yakuza dev. Shit engine, shit dev, shit shit shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit
I told yall. Yakuza sucks.

Sent out to die.
Hopefully its decent to good like Vanquish but I have a strong feeling Japan still doesn't get what Americans like about shooters.
The only one I think may get it is Itagaki with Devil's Third.

Even SEGA’s Mr Nagoshi, the last living, employed, embodiment of the classic, colourful SEGA dream of yesteryear, is now making games about robots/marines/the future accompanied by wisecracking dialogue.
We won’t be buying this, not even when it’s discounted to £12.99 three hours after launch.
This is it. The end. A bald, generic future marine has just rolled an incendiary device into the lobby of SEGA Japan. There’s no one left of any merit to pull out of the rubble.
-
Looks better than gears of bore 3, I'm in if it has local co op.
-
Total suck. At least RGG Of the End is coming early 2011.

:lol This game won't even be better than Vanquish's demo. I'd bet anything.
Will wait for Yakuza of the End. Looks 5x better than this junk.
-
did anyone here actually play Quantum Theory? maybe they're relaunching it under a different name to try to get more sales :hans1
-
I think everyone here knew better than to play Quantum Theory.
-
Looks like suck.
It's not even good suck like Metal Wolf Chaos or that Gun game Square Enix are doing.
-

It's going to epic bomba because it's released by Sega. They can't even seem to sell good games, it's unclear why they even try with bad ones.
-
That trailer :rofl :dizzy
Another AAA experience from SEGA
-
This just looks like looks like knock-off Terminator.
Isn't the part where the half-destroyed robot grabs his leg and he turns to shoot it ripped directly from one of the Terminator movies?
Also, I'll echo the "boring, generic, uninspired" comments.
-
Guess even SEGA has got the westernization bug now :'(
-
I liked it more when Japan liked making Japanese games.

The cinematic parts of the game look pretty cool, but combat looks like it's going to be a really bland grind.
"Shoot thousands of bullets at swarms of generic robots from behind cover."
-
Surprisingly, that looks pretty good. Better than most cover based TPS. Especially Gears.
-
metal gear action
-
Hopefully this doesn't use the same gunplay mechanics as RGG Of the End.
-
BULLET SPONGE ACTION
-
Looks like "I, Robot: The Game." But in a good way.
