Title: Bore Christmas Loot 2010! What did you get?

So far, I'm up to a $20 Barnes and Noble gift card, tools and work gloves, a shit-ton of coffee, and Just Dance 2 for the Wii (a gift given to me but for my wife and son).  I've got two more Christmas get togethers with my in-laws today and my family and my parents and sister tomorrow.

So far, GF got me Paprika and Inception on Blu-Ray, a black pullover, a few mugs and a luggage weigher with my company's logo on it from her job (she works for a company that makes promotional products) and will be getting me Wild Arms XF for PSP. Her mom and sister got me a GameStop gift card (will prob buy Arc Rise Fantasia with it). Joe Molotov got me, well you can see the pics in the Secret Santa thread. Friend is coming over in a few min and we're gonna exchange further gifts.

Girlfriend got me Night of the Hunter Blu-Ray, the National Lampoon book Drunk Stoned Brilliant Dead which is a compilation "best of" which is unfortunately missing some absolutely wonderful stuff, Skate 2 for 360 (which I haven't really touched because I've been playing too much Assassin's Creed 2), and the new version of Dungeonquest board game. 

I have gifts from my parents sitting next to me waiting to be opened.  I know one of the gifts is Doctor Zhivago on Blu-Ray.

I bought 9 hours 9 doors 9 people (w/e it's called) to give to my mom to give to me.  Getting gifts is more about tricking other family members into thinking I was surprised by what I got.

Just Dance 2 has made my winter break really fun. I highly recommend the Bollywood song (with a partner, of course) and Satisfaction, if only for the speed-skating moves you getta pull out when the beat drops.

My Godson got me the new Manic Street Preachers album for Christmas. It's really from my buddy and his wife, but they let Max press the mouse button to order it off Amazon UK and he wrapped it. :rock

We gave him this awesome Gundam shirt off Etsy and a soft vinyl Acguy figure.

The first two look straight out of Starbucks.  Cool none-the-less.  You'll have to tell us how you like the double-insulated glasses.  I was always so unsure about them.

It's handblown, and there are two layers of glass, so if you put a hot beverage in, it won't burn your hand because the hot stuff is touching the inside layer and your hand is touching the outside. Then for cold beverages, there's no condensation on the glass and your hand isn't cold from holding the glass. Blah blah keeps beverage the proper temp. That's cool too but fuck! Multipurpose and proper hand temp!

I've bought 5 of those things to date; only one remains. In other words, be VERY CAREFUL with them, especially when hand-washing. They're awesome but I can't justify re-buying them anymore because they just don't last.

Long story short, a vacuum (or then unmoving air, probably in this case) is the best insulator. Nuff said, lets talk presentz!!

Oh yes, there is much rejoicing. I finally get to retire old faithful [my 8800GT] after nearly three years of service, but it deserves a rest.

I found out, though, that my pitiful power supply [a 450 watt] just barely meets the minimum requirement.  :lol

Update: Went in to Just Cause 2 and cranked everything up [had most of the stuff on medium and AA on 4X] to the max and it ran smooth like butter.  8)

Started a game download on steam, went to the folks and had dinner, came home to a "reboot and insert proper boot device" error with only 1GB of a 15GB game finished, so much for playing that this evening, running an integrity check but I might have gotten an extra-special HDD failure for Christmas

For me, a lot of the stuff I got was through gift exchanged with family.  So it's really like I just went out and bought myself some of it.  And there are quite a few pieces on that list that were $1 items that were thrown in to a package just to make the gift bigger.  In terms of monetary value, you got more than me...  But I'm still extremely happy with what I got!

Too many people over to get good pics and then it was eaten immediately.  I'll make another one soon for my side of the family and take some pics.  I'll describe it though.  Center temp was a solid 135.  Was stuffed with Garlic and tied with pepper, garlic, and salt on the outside.  Cooked at 450 for 15 minutes, then cooked for 3 hours at 225 (oven was inconsistent and varied from 218-240 which is where the dutch oven helped to even out the inconsistency.  Dutch oven was open while in the larger oven).  Pulled from the oven when center temp was 125-128 and then let sit with the dutch oven covered for about 45 minutes.  Some drippings had been poured out when I pulled it from the oven and used it to make some au jus.  Poured a bit back in on the top of the roast before letting it sit the 45 minutes to even out the temp and finish.  Served with high temp cooked asparagus, mashed potatoes, and the usual christmas trappings.
