Thinking about playing KOTOR and want to maybe play 2 but IIRC it's a good game, but half-finished mess - does anyone know if any of this has changed since it's been out?

There is this but I never bothered to try it. I just like to pretend in my mind that Kotor 2 never existed.

Hard to find actual impressions but found this:

I have played Kotor 2 with TSLRCM. I can highly recommend it, it pretty much adds everything except the Genoharadan-quest. You have to register to the forums to get the files though. And remember, you have to install the patches in a cumolative order, otherwise it will not work.
Thus,
1) Install Kotor 2
2) Install highres-movie and music-patches
3) Install the official Kotor 2 1.01-patch
4) Install TSLRCM
5) Install TSLRCM: patch a
5) Install TSLRCM: patch b
6) Install TSLRCM: patch c
7) Install TSLRCM: patch d(if there was a 'd'-version, can't remember).
Play
Another recommendation here. KotOR2 is pretty much complete now.
But then I saw it's not on Steam, what's the deal with that. F it.

I didn't play Kotor 2 forever because I was waiting for the completion mod to come out like the Fallout 2 one (the fallout 2 one is GREAT and really restores some major end game story portions/questlines; makes it a much better game). Then the one with the most progress that went into beta, the dev people abandoned it and refused to release it to the public because it was not "perfect final" so I gave up but then later on I heard some other group released their own version of the complete mod and I downloaded it but I still haven't played it.
I hear it fixes A LOT but the ending is still rushed because there was only so much they could do and a lot of the very endgame/ending stuff was just never made.
I'm still really looking forward to playing it. I hear it's just as awesome as every other Obsidian/Black Isle game outside it has no ending which you just have to accept.

From reading up, the abandoned one was tslrp, which were picky and meticulous about what they'd add/fix, while the above (tslrcm) was just trying to "git 'er dun". It sounds like though quality was even better than the first group envisioned.
Kotor2 isn't available for DD though, so there goes that. I guess I could...

I hear they won't put it on DD because they are ashamed of it or something :\
I picked up a physical copy a while back for like $10.

KOTOR 2 was amazing. Obsidian showing those amateurs at Bioware how to make an awesome RPG. :rock

Yet they have The Force Unleashed on Steam. ???

I'd like to play that complete version one day if KOTOR2 ever comes online. I still own it on the xbox and I remember enjoying it as much as the first one; I certainly enjoyed it a lot more than Jade Empire.
side thing about star wars games: I'm replaying Jedi Outcast now and I wish they'd make a new game in the series. There were a bunch of awesome star wars games last gen (probably because the movies were still coming out) and this gen it's Lego, Force Unleashed, and the mmo.
