Title: Weirdest Christmas Gift
Post by: Smooth Groove on January 06, 2011, 12:02:41 AM
What's the weirdest Christmas gift you've ever gotten?  I just got about $200 worth of Godiva chocolates from an aunt yesterday.  She got me this gift because I had mentioned earlier at a family gathering that Godiva chocolates were really delicious.

This aunt has always spoiled me because she has no kids and I'm her favorite nephew but even for her, this seems kinda overboard.  WTF am I going to do with enough chocolate to feed a family for a month?

edit:oops, wrong forum, move plz

Replica masks of La Parka and Jushin "Thunder" Liger.

Jushin Liger was bad-ass.  I still remember watching him as a kid.  Wasn't he the first to do a moonsault in a North American match?

I have no idea. First time I ever saw a moonsault was probably from Shawn Michaels or the 1-2-3 Kid :lol

Liger is pretty bad ass though. Him, Ultimo Dragon, Keiji Mutoh/The Great Muta, and Kenta Kobashi are my favorite Japanese wrestlers.

Oh, and I also got a 30 pack of energy drinks this Christmas. That was kinda weird I guess.

My stepmother still buys me little stocking-stuffer knickknacks from the dollar store in spite of my ripe old age.  They usually end up in the trash the moment I get home.  I don't have the heart to tell her not to do it because they're so inexpensive and she seems genuinely amused by the sort of crap people will throw together to make a few bucks.

Last year she gave me a nightlight shielded by a creepy plastic village made to look like it was framed in a painting.  It couldn't have cost more than three dollars and I was still appalled by the wastefulness of someone using resources to make such a thing, and of my stepmother spending perfectly good money on it.  I stuck it in an outlet in one of the darkened halls of my apartment building until someone replaced it with one less ghastly.

Damn, I found it on the internet.  It was apparently shitty merchandise from Thomas Kinkade involving his terrible paintings.

The picture doesn't quite capture the repugnant cheapness of the thing.  And I really hope she didn't pay what this website is asking for it.   :-\

I bought my wife $100 worth of Godiva this Christmas. It was like the briefcase scene in Pulp Fiction when she opened the box.

Godivia is shitty chocolate, man. Gotta source that Cluziel shit. When I worked in the food biz I was such a chocolate nerd.

$200 worth chocolate :rofl :rofl

That kind money is enough to live for 2 weeks in here :maf

Sorry dude, in America, we wipe our butts with $200. If I saw a $100 bill on the ground, I wouldn't even waste my time to pick it up.

In Kentucky, we'd fight for $100, because we're all so goddamn poor here.   :dur

Weirdest gift I ever received?  Easily a breadmaker from my parents when I was 21.  Why the fuck would a 21 year old need a breadmaker?

spoiler (click to show/hide)
Now that I'm 25 and married, I sometimes wish I had the resources to make a loaf of bread...  :(

a shirt with a wolf on it from Harrah's casino.  Got it from my granny.  Himu can attest to it.  I actually wore it to school in 7th and 8th grade when I was getting low on clean shirts.

Notice the clip at the top in case I want to latch it to my keys or belt-loop and bring it along.

Thanks, mom.
