Wasn't there a rumor going around that most of the ex-Grin team was working on a new Strider game?

Strider, lol.

I'm not sure if I like the new-look RAD Spencer. They should have used the dreadlocked guy with a more cartoony look. The outrage would have been great
-
You must've missed the outrage when Crapcom announced they're using Jamaican Spencer for MvC3. I've been trolled by them plenty. :(
-
:bow Jamaican Spencer :bow2
-
Fuck dreadlock Spencer and everything about BC3D.
Normal Spencer > mustachio Spencer >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> *
-
But you can play as normal Spencer in BC3D! (provided you can also ignore his potty mouth and general humorlessness)
-
New video: http://www.gamesradar.com/f/bionic-commando-rearmed-2-video-full-access-preview/a-20110121151710618012
Looks great. I didn't like the last video too much, but this one looks way better.
-
Heh, yeah, I played through all of BC3D with the Rad skin.
I did the same.
It was actually a little jarring at the end when they showed the cinema with Dread Spencer. I was like, "ohh right."
The game was weird enough near the end that Dread Spencer didn't phase me.
-
Have any of the BC3D devs ever come out with any insight into some of the decisions behind that game?
It really just doesn't make a lick of sense to me why they would abandoned the rather lighthearted Rearmed interpretation in favor of a humorless, mean-spirited, and generally angsty take on the series for the 3D reboot.
-
I would say only becuase the games that sell the best nowadays are mostly humorless, mean-spirited, and generally angsty (Call of Duty, God of War etc etc)
But I am a massive fan of BC3D, GOTY 2009. It was just so enjoyable to swing around and the sound design (music and VA in particular) was phenominal. Love the guy that played Super Joe.
-
Pirates Game sharers ruin yet another game :(
-
Good, just means BCR3 is 360 exclusive.
-
staying up for this one :hyper
-
Welp, PSN version has the shitty "you must be connected to PSN to launch the game" DRM from Final Fight, so I'm out. Pretty disappointing, I was really looking forward to the game.
that is so gay

you only have yourself to blame, filthy pirate

2 HOURS ARGHH
-
its out, downloading now. 1.4 gigs and it's taking a little while
-
Picked up this, ilomilo, an Hydrophobia in one swoop. Cause I'm ballin. Still got 1600 left too.
-
Damn, 1.4gb
-
Tried the demo and I'm gonna skip on this. I can't stand the control changes. It doesn't even feel like BC.
-
it takes one minute to adjust. Grow a set of balls
Anyway started the game on hard, and its HARD. Memories of the first game came flooding back. Gonna play all day today :D
-
sweet, post impressions asap
so pumped for this game even if it's $15 instead of 10
-
ASAP?
Bullet points from what I played before bed last night
- graphics are much more detailed than BCR1, but framerate seems a little choppier
- music is incredible, better than BCR1
- lots of comedy in the writing, even just scanning a trash can will yield a joke
all I can remember for now. Im just gonna have some breakfast and do some chores and get into the game proper now
-
I gleaned from the GAF thread that apparently Crapcom removed the outside portion of the Albatross level on Normal difficulty from the first Rearmed with an update a few months ago, and also added unlimited lives. Casual gamers :lol
-
The PSN version has DRM that requires an internet connection at all times.
-
it takes one minute to adjust. Grow a set of balls
It's not about adjusting, it's an inferior control scheme. I have to press B twice just to swing forward, fuck that shit.

I was wondering about this, since I hopped in earlier today and saw I could no longer Game Over. Wtf Capcom.
-
My download finally finished, god damn. Gonna marathon this bitch tonight
-
*high five*
also it looks like co-op is local only, which is great. Can get a irl friend to get that achievement with me.
Well Ive done my chores and brewed my coffee, gonna get into it right now
-
uh wut. Local only?
Fuck that shit. Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck I want a refund.
-
only local co-op and only playable online.
what the fuck capcom

:rofl
-
Like I was planning on buying this and playing it while I get myself settled when I move but who knows if I'll have online or not then.
-
fucking piece of shit shitbox fucking hard froze four times during level 2. tried clearing my cache, didn't do shit. Googling symptoms now. FUUUUCK I WANT TO PLAY THIS
I was getting freezes playing Mass Effect 2 and Castlevania also, guess my box is on the way out :-\
-
man I'm fucked off
-
I'm up to level 5 so far (playing on hard and not using jump). It's good, but the controls are really weird. I have no clue why they changed everything so much. The controls in BCR were absolutely perfect. /shrug
Good game so far though.
-
WTF is this shit. The stage 9 boss or whatever does a move that you HAVE to jump over, or you take damage. I hope I'm missing something here. :-\
Beat him. If you dodge all of his other patterns perfectly, you'll have just enough health to withstand the attacks that you're supposed to jump over. So lame.
Also, why do the alternate weapons have ammo? Didn't every weapon in BCR have infinite ammo? Pointless.
-
Uh, just use the jump button? I dont think youre supposed to beat the game on hard without jumping, thats what easy is for. The levels are designed to be jumped around too. Fuck it.
Anyhow I gave my HDD a hard thwack to make sure it's stuck in real good cos I figured thats where my freezes were coming from. Managed to beat stage 2 with no freeze. Yay. Hard mode is a joke compared to BCR1, thats for sure.
-
Nah, that was the only part where not jumping screwed me. I hope I just missed a piece I could grapple onto and avoid the floor attack, but I'm not counting on it.
This game's pretty long too. Seems longer than the first anyway. It's been good so far though, so I'm not complaining. I just think there haven't been enough bosses so far.
-
Just beat this. I played on hard and didn't use the jump. Everything went well except for the aforementioned Gorilla boss.
Cons:
- Limited ammo for special weapons. Why?
- The altered controls. Again, why? BCR's controls were absolutely perfect. The new controls take some getting used to, but they start to flow smoothly after you're used to the changes. Still, they are not an improvement - they're a sidestep at best. Pointless.
- Hard mode is too easy. You get tons of lives and you can take quite a few hits. The punishment for dying is too small as well, since you only lose a few seconds of progress due to the generous checkpoints. I haven't tried Retro mode yet, so I hope that's comparable to Super Hard difficulty in BCR.
- Occasionally dodgy framerate.
Pros:
- Everything else.
So it's an awesome game. I'm not sure if it's as good as the original, but it's pretty close at least. I'll need to play Retro mode, collect all of the hidden yashichis and upgrades, and do the challenge rooms before I decide if this is a 10/10 game or a 9/10.
-
Fuck this game sounds like shit. $15 down the drain. BioShock 2 all over.
-
I'd say Dead Rising 2 is a more accurate comparison. More of the same, some improvements, some downgrades, easier as a whole. This will probably be the best XBLA game all year, or maybe in second place behind :bow DANGUN FEVERON :bow2
Anyway, just got done playing co-op. Now I'll start working on the challenge rooms.
-
I saw Eurogamer gave this a 6/10. Hmmmmmm, I normally trust iconoclast's tastes, but I think I'll wait for a price drop since I'm not in a rush.
I mainly just care about the soundtrack.
-
I just read the Eurogamer review. He mostly makes fair points, but I disagree with some of the things he says. Firstly, he laments the absence of the top-down mini-stages. Really?! That is the best change in the game - those stages fucking sucked. I'd always go out of my way to avoid them if at all possible. Secondly, I miss the hacking mini game too. They were fun and the dialogue of the soldiers was pretty amusing. So I agree that it sucks that they're gone, but it's no big deal. The rest of the time he's just complaining about the controls. They have changed and they do feel less natural, but once you get the hang of them you can fly through levels just as quickly as BCR. It's a needless change, but whatever.
The soundtrack is awesome though. It's on par with the first game, more or less.
-
The soundtrack to the first game was amazing. I think I bought it for like $3 from the guys site at some point. Was totally worth it.
-
The soundtrack in this one is good, but I don't think it has any one song that is as good as this:

:rock
Finished the challenge rooms too. Only 24 of them this time - didn't the original have 50 something? They were good though. The last one was a bit of a bitch, but the rest weren't too hard.
Heh, if I try to blow through the rest of the achievements, I might be the first in the world to 200/200 this. Might as well go for it I guess.
edit: meh, screw it. I hate searching for hidden crap and this game is full of it. It's mainly the yashichis that can be a bitch to find.
-
If Fatshark patches in control options, sign me up. Until then, they can suck it.
-
Yeah, I had to put this down yesterday after getting frustrated with the controls. I understand why they felt the need to change them -- the basic swing mechanics in the original can be unforgiving and required some restricted level design to make flow correctly -- but I dislike how it was done. Very disappointed in the lack of control options when they had to have known it would be a contentious issue.
-
Wow this game is getting some completely distinguished mentally-challenged reviews. IGN gave it a 6 and Gamespot gave it a 5. All they do is complain about the controls (which are fine after you get used to them), jumping, and how hard it is (WTF?). You can beat the game without jumping, so that complaint is meaningless. If you don't like it, don't use it. As far as difficulty goes, this game is a LOT easier than the original. Right now I have 23 lives, and if I die, I get sent to a checkpoint that I crossed at most 15 seconds ago. smh
But anyway, after playing this some more, I'd say BCR1 is still the better game. But not by a huge margin or anything. If BCR1 was a 10/10, BCR2 is like an 8 or an 8.5.
-
The more bitching about the controls, the better chance there is they'll issue an update to give us the option to change it to our liking. I'm all for it, warranted or not.
-
The bitching about the controls is warranted, since they altered them for seemingly no reason. The only advantage I can see to the new controls is that it's easier to swing when you're stationary. You don't need a shotgun blast to get you moving any more, you just hold left or right. But other than that, yeah it's pretty pointless.
-
Why did they change the controls? I don't get it. The controls were fine in the first one.
-
I guess they wanted to make the game more accessible and easier to understand and play. Beats me.
Anyway, just got my 200/200 on this. Second in the world to do so, I believe. Got lots of top 5 scores on times as well, and I even got #1 on Point of no Return. :D
After playing this some more, this game's a little disappointing. It's just way too simplistic and easy. The altered controls are pretty lame, but like I said before, you can fly through the stages just as quickly as BCR once you get used to them. Still, it's a stupid change. The challenge rooms are all pretty easy as well, which is even more disappointing since there's only 24 of them this time around.
But eh, it's still a really good game. If BCR was a 10/10, BCR2 is more like an 8/10. It's not as good as the original, but then again, very few games are.
-
I disagree with some of the reviews of this game. I really dig it and I think Fatshark at least as the right idea, but I just can't stand the control scheme. RoboJ made a good point about how the controls in BCR somewhat limit the level design, so I have a feeling BCR2 won't get classic controls patched in, but that's really the only reason I refuse to buy it. Every other criticism this game gets is pretty stupid, aside from the omission of online co-op. How could they repeat that mistake?
-
this game is a pile of shit, keeps hard freezing my xbox... I thought maybe it was my box's fault but I can play other shit just fine atm, and this game freezes every fucking stage, froze twice tonight on level 11, I can't make any progress. I want a fucking refund
-
so I'm house/dog sitting for my dad tonight, there is a brand spanking new Xbox Slim here. I've recovered my gamertag and DL'ing this now, hopefully the freezing won't be as prevalent!
I'm gonna smoke a blunt and try and blitz this tonight, I just wanna finish the game at least
-
:bow local co-op :bow2 cry moar friendless losers.
-
okay I smoked the hooter. This game is actually really fun when you're not in constant fear of your Xbox crashing. I think I can deduce my 4 year old Shitbox 3Shitty is basically, a piece of shit.
Gonna just beat the game at least tonight, and probably mop up the cheevos whenever I buy a new Xbox.
:piss student life :piss2
I have to say, the music in this game is fucking fantastic. Better than the BCR1, not as 'gritty', but generally more funky and 'pump-up'.
Still I'm a bit pissed I bought this over Hard Corps
-
Indeed. This game is kinda forgettable. It's still good though, it's just a B or a B+ game.
Or maybe it's forgettable because Hard Corps came out shortly after and became the best game on XBLA. Hard to say.
-
forgettable is the right word. The level design feels very slapdash, you can just swing away and dodge most of every stage I've played so far, where the original game was much more testing and forced you through a lot of challenges. As a result this game is also a lot more boring for sure, guess you can't quite beat classic level design. Mega Man 10 pulled it off
