Microsoft has reiterated that it has no plans to ditch the core audience that helped propel Xbox 360 to 50 million worldwide sales, despite the amazing success of Kinect, which sold eight million units during its first 60 days and still doesn't work in my house.
"Obviously we're very excited by the success of Kinect," US PR bod David Dennis told IGN at CES this week. "But we have no intention of abandoning the Xbox 360 audience that bought in originally. We're very aware of the key role the enthusiastic core audience played in making the Xbox 360 what it is, and we'll continue to support and develop [games] like Halo and Gears of War."
Unsurprisingly, Dennis also said that there are some core-focused games in development yet to be announced.
On a related note, we're also told to expect more improvements to Xbox Live in future. Apparently Microsoft has mainly invested in behind-the-scenes upgrades this past year to help accommodate the releases of Halo: Reach and Call of Duty: Black Ops, but it remains keen to add features Live users want.

With or without Kinect, this seems to have been MS's route anyways. They might care less on sercuing exclusives, but unless you're a console warrior what difference does it make?
Another one of those gaf-esque threads from SantaC.
If you love these threads so much I'm not sure why you just don't spend more time over at GAF.
They make up with it by having some 3rd party exclusives or timed exclusives via games and XBLA and generally the better version of 3rd party software versus the ps3.
Why is it sad ??? I take better games over technical feats anyday. If it's a great game and a technical marvel then great.

That's fucking sad if that's what dudes generally accept. I want more and different games from dedicated studios, not the same fucking games (albeit with slightly better performance and some idiotic horse armor). I'd like to see more kick ass developers pushing the system and do shit that one would typically think pretty much impossible on a system like that, like with the PS3.

Yeah, I'm not a technical performance guy. I don't jizz because Killzone 2 looks good. If I was I'd only game on the PC which will always be superior in that regard to anything on a console. For my personal tastes a combination of a 360 with Xbox Live and XBLA, and a PC provides me all I need and want in gaming. More so than I can actually play in fact. If somebody feels differently there are 3 consoles on the market to suit their tastes along with 2 handhelds.
I'm perfectly happpy gaming on my 360. Especially since most of the games I want tend to be multiplatform Especially for the price/performance equation that gets factored in. Somebody else is free to feel differently of course.

But it would still not have all the games. Personally, I give a damn about having games, and ditching first party/exclusive development because, hey, there are so many games already doesn't tickle me right. Having developers actually working exclusively towards one platform and seeing the results of that is certainly a perk, but it's the other shit that really irks me. This "oh I'm fine with what there is" garbage is rotten hippie/lazytard bullshit.

Gearz of Bore more like it amirite

indeed, Killzone 3, Ratchet and Clank:lost count, Ico 3, Resistance 3, Uncharted 3, Little Big planet 2, MLB 2011 the show, GoW4? , GT6?, Motorstorm 3, Yakuza 5 - when are these people going to give us what we really want?!
I'm a M$ fantard but I will easily concede that Sony's 1st party offerings are far better than Microsoft's. Gears, Halo and Fable are all shit
360 is still the better console. Superior multiplat games, better DD games, better online, no incessant giant patches.
Of course you'd think that since Youtube is your only PS3 experience.

Further proof how strong multiplatfom(third party) is...bu bu bu exclusives, nobody cares or buys
good for list wars only
list wars :piss2
I'm not sure that GOW and Motorstorm are such unique games that we would only seem them made from 1st party studios. I'd take Gaiden, DMC, and maybe Bayonetta (just started playing) any day over GOW and none of them is exclusive. Motorstorm 2 is a fun game with friends, but I find the solo features lacking and prefer Dirt 2 when I'm playing alone. Pure is also a decent alternative. Neither Dirt nor Pure offer exactly the type of racing that Motorstorm does but they're close enough and prove that 1st party exclusivity isn't necessary for quality in this genre.
I thought EA published the Croc games?
lol afaik there was only one Croc game
pfff some Croc fanboy you are, don't even remember the awesome sequel to Croc, Croc 2. :wag
And no, neither Pure nor Dirt are all that much like Motorstorm. Again, like it or hate it, but Motorstorm 2 is a genuinely unique game for this generation. Either way, it's nice having Dirt, Pure and Motorstorm. A multiplatform strategy removes one option, and a good one too, and you wouldn't have the choice of taking anything else over it because it simply wouldn't exist. It sucks that we haven't gotten a Rallisport.
QuoteRealistically, I can't see them working too hard on a Wipeout game at this point, but this is where we actively wish for Sony to be that stupid.
yeah, i think more realistically it will be back to using Wipeout HD with newly designed tracks rather than the original. A friend of ours was working on it way back but he left Sony to go back to Sega :/
