Has there always been that many nominations for Best Picture? Seems like a lot to me.
Scott Pilgrim vs The World got snubbed. Deserves best film editing nomination and win.
I agree.
Did Despicable Me come out last year? Despicable Me > Toy Story 3
So Nolan is not nominated for best director? damn it
Why is the kid from true grit getting a supporting nom? She was the lead of that movie.

Seriously, Inception without director nom is hilarious.
Havent seen any of that. Movies - what a waste of time :rofl

I suddenly want King's Speech to lose everything and I haven't even seen it.
Oh please please please don't let The Kids Are Alright win anything. Seriously, one of the worst movies I've seen in a long while, it's this year's "Juno". It was basically a handjob to super liberal hollywood hipster types but in movie form.
Good to see Tron not getting any nominations :lol
Best Sound Editing
'Inception'
'Toy Story 3'
'TRON: Legacy'
'True Grit'
'Unstoppable'
:lol don't worry maybe the next one is gonna get a real one guys.
I do believe that Nolan was robbed of a nom even though Inception wasn't quite foty material. Directing a film like that certainly takes much more skill than directing most of those lifetime movies with high production values that the Academy loves.
How does that explain Avatar :violin

I tend to agree with the Academy's choices in the Foreign category. So many people tell me that Korean films are great but the majority of them are garbage. It's easy to see why K-flicks get so little respect at the Oscars.
Lives of Others :heart
Although Pan's Labyrinth was really good.

Pan's was good, but fanboys and their love of anything remotely nerdy, causing them to ignore well-made films drives me insane.

Pan's was a well-made film.
The only categories I care about are Foreign Language Film and Documentary.
Lives of Others deserved Best Picture that year. It undoubtedly deserved the Foreign Language win over Pan's.
Diablo Cody has an Oscar
Black Swan is a Twilight Zone episode that's filmed brilliantly. Once you realize that, you realize it isn't Best Picture.
True Grit, King's Speech, and even the Facebook movie are better movies.

so did titanic and it should never have been allowed near the oscarsI fucking love Titanic! It's the only James Cameron movie I can rewatch. Then again, I've always hard a nerd boner for the Titanic and I've always just had a boner for Kate Winslet. Titties in her prime :drool

I grew up watching Aliens. In elementary school, my friends and I all had that script memorized and would quote it from time to time.I didn't see it until probably like a year ago. It's entertaining, but it doesn't do anything for me really. I think Alien aged better and is a way better movie on every level.
i think alien and aliens both compliment each otherI think they did at some point, but when I saw Alien, it was a movie built around tension and fear and I could still get into it. Aliens has more action that I don't think holds up today. It relies less on a good script and more on dated effects and setpieces.
YOU'LL TAKE IT FROM MY COLD DEAD HANDS!
Jesus Mupepe. That's like Himuro levels of embarrassment.

seriously, did you even have a childhood? :'(
sounds like you went from 2 years old to your mid twenties in a day :(
Toy Story 3 is nearly perfect
I loved Toy Story 2, more than the first one.
True Lies is infinitely rewatchable.

toy story 3 is fucking great ???
yet another time I post this:
1) Wall-E
2) Ratatouille
3) Up
4) Toy Story
5) Toy Story 3
6) The Incredibles
7) Monsters Inc
8) Toy Story 2
9) Finding Nemo
10) A Bug's Life
11) Cars
Meh I thought it was one of the best coming of age films I've ever seen. I was 8 when the first Toy Story came out, and still remember the first time I saw it. I played with a shit ton of toys, and had my favorite toys that I loved - many of which I still have in a box under my bed shhhh.
Anyway the first movie was such a perfect description of being a kid to me, and the third did a great job of depicting the end of childhood to me.
Toy Story 3 was great but I just don't see how it was that much different than the second. Everything involving Jesse was like "Weren't you abandoned before getting a new owner? this is old hat for you. And wait, wasn't Woody already struggling with this stuff for the past two movies?" The adventure was still great and entertaining. Everything else was like they wanted to end Andy's story, but Andy was just a lame dork.
The end is so drawn out like Andy was getting emotionally battered by giving away his toys. Except it was already established that he: 1) Didn't play with or care about his toys for a long ass time. They were desperate for his attention at that post. 2) Didn't care when his mom threw them away. He was like "where are they?" for roughly 2 seconds before going back to being some weird asshole. And he was going to take Woody to his college dorm? what the fuck?

Quality is subjective, but in terms of visual aesthetic and editing, Scott Pilgrim really was unparalleled last year.
