Since I called in my reservation today, I figured we could get a thread started. I want this thread to be a place where we guys and gals can feel comfortable talking about what we expect from the holiday, what it means to us, and eventually how it disappointed us all.

Despite fucking shitty times late last month (cue Cormac chiming in about how we've broken up a million times or whatever), we sorted it out and Valentine's Day, cliche as it is, is our 1 year anniversary. The day will start with the heart-shaped Dominos pizza for lunch (lolz) because we order way too much from there far too regularly and we thought it'd be appropriate. That night, we will ball out of control atop a giant tower for dinner in Shiodome overlooking Tokyo and then get drunk (and probably purikura) in Ginza before heading home. A couple days after that we're going out of the city to Hakone and spending a couple nights in a badass ryokan/mega-Japanese inn with a bath ON THE BALCONY.  :pimp :american

Shit, that's in like a week or some shit, right?  Gonna be working a double, which is fine because fuck Valentine's Day right in it's ear.  However, I'll be getting a sizable tax return on the 18th, so we'll just pretend that the hookers I'm paying are my girlfriends or whatever.  However, if they look me in the eye I'm still gonna cut them where it shows.

Well, maybe best steak in the world that's not a wagyu cut.  I haven't tried it but many NYers have told me it's the real deal, just like it's portrayed on food shows.  Supposedly the prices are really good compared to most gourmet steakhouses but they also have a ridiculous cash-only policy.

I love wagyu.  It's like cooking a steak with butter except the butter is inside of the meat.  No prime steak can be that tender and juicy, regardless of aging or cooking methods.

As far as this year... Well I work Sat, Sun, Mon, etc. until the middle of April unless I die or go to prison for murder one. I did buy a Groupon for an ice skating rink that's right next to a Chevys... That would be pretty ideal for him. Not ideal for me, but corn cake? Yes please. As long as I can eat my weight in salsa and make babies later, I'm down.

She then goes into one of those long ass rambling things chicks due to somehow cushion what they really have to say. Long story short: her ex called her today and wanted to meet up with her today to discuss the future, how he was wrong etc. So instead of heading out with me, she's gonna go hear what he has to say.

her: can i call you after our meeting? I'd like your advise
me: nah, gonna head out and eat anyway

womp womp. Was gonna go to a fancy place (Gandy Dancer). Instead I'll head to Buffalo Wild Wings later tonight.

We went here and it was fucking awesome. Good seafood, steak, and wine, although Valentine's Day had to be the day a flash blizzard struck Tokyo, which negated the fucking awesome view we were supposed to have of the city, specifically Tokyo Tower.  :-\ It was fun walking through the snow back to my place though.

Overall definitely the best Valentine's Day I've had.  :)

Twas a good night, overall. I got home from work and walk into a candle lit path up to the bedroom for some smangin. Quick shower and a bite to eat leading up to my 10 year old's basketball game. It's playoff time. She scored 2 baskets and they won so they'll play in the championship on Wednesday.

That was for a reason.  Years ago (before I was born) my Mom worked at a restaurant like that, and she told me it was to absorb anything on the floor like grease and such.  Doesn't seem like it would, but she said it made cleaning up at the end of the night much easier because everything would stick to the shells instead of being mashed into the floor.  They don't do it at steakhouses around here anymore, they give you an extra empty bucket to drop the shells in.

you can still do it at a few steakhouses here in Houston.  Even some of the nicer ones (even though it's allowed most people don't). 

last night was good.  i made dinner for her but then she had to study for a big test.  luckily i got booty before i went to bed anyways.

We did ours on the weekend. Got a bunch of gifts, (one of which was a set of Buckyballs, which I've always secretly wanted, but could never justify buying for myself. BUCKYBALLS! YEEEEE) then she made dinner on Sunday. Good weekend.
