Jeopardy is like the only thing I watch on TV anymore, so as someone who works in software with a CS degree, the whole Watson thing was pretty awesome.

So it ridiculously dominated the first day, then just barely won the second day. Seems like they either turned down the AI, tried a different routine, or the questions were worded in a way it couldn't deal with-- i wonder what it was.
Watson is pretty insane and as cliche as the skynet jokes are, the machine's logical end is that it holds all of the world's knowledge and can answer any question you ask it. A giant brain. Makes me think that in a couple decades, we'll have phones with Watson (or something like it) in them, that continually receive updates to their knowledge base and can answer difficult questions. And that many jobs will be made redundant by watson stations that can research and perform tasks faster and cheaper than people.

So it's basically a computer that can use Google really fast?

He doesn't have access to the internet because "it wouldn't be fair".
