Is it a retail release then or one of those games that appears on a different digital distributer, kinda like White Gold and Precursors.

more like steam is mostly interested in console publisher crap
I would buy it to support janky euro-devs since it's only $20 and that's a totally fair price, but like with most story-related sequels, I feel like I need to play the original first :(
I know, but that doesn't mean it isn't story related :(
That bus game looks awesome though. Looks way better than the bus simulators on dreamcast

One thing that's immediately apparent is, no Monkey Island? Or any Kings Quest? Cave Story should at least have gotten a mention. And no Witcher (aka the best western RPG since the late 90's)?

Shogun was the first RTS I ever played and it's still probably my favourite strategy game ever.
I could never get hooked on any other strategy games apart from Total War games from then on.
I have my copy of Shogun 2 here but Steam won't let me install it yet :'(

As someone who didn't really like pc gaming two months ago, steam has been a big draw for me.
The Sims Medieval will provide a medieval setting for the player to work within, with newly designed buildings and scenery to give an authentic "back in time" experience. Players will build a kingdom up, send Sims on quests, and earn rewards in the form of Kingdom Points. The game diverges from the series in that players can win the game by achieving a kingdom ambition. Confirmed ambitions include "Best In Show", "Busy Builder", "Efficient Expander", "Fame", "Filled Coffers", "Hard Workers", "Imperial Domination", "Legendary", "No Quest For The Weary", "Safe And Sound", "Thoughts And Prayers", and "Wealthy Populace".[1]
In a change from other Sims games, the character creation, simulation, and architectural aspects are significantly reduced and altered to enforce a sharper focus on RPG-style gameplay. For example, players will be able to customise the aesthetics and layout of building interiors, but they will be unable to alter the basic structure and shape of buildings.[3] Instead, the game will involve the player upgrading a kingdom, choosing an ultimate goal for that kingdom (such as wealth or popularity) and then fulfilling quests that contribute to that goal. The goal can be completed through the use of heroes (or specialists). For example, the player can have a wizard and a physician cooperate on one quest.[1] Focus, experience, and the traits of the Sim influence their success, and players may choose how the team will attempt to conduct the quest. Players will also choose which Sim will lead the team. Interestingly, The Sims Medieval will not be a generational game. Much like the first generation of the main series, The Sims, the characters in the game will not progress through life stages. The Sims will still be able to procreate, but those children will never age to adulthood. Sims will each have two normal traits and one fatal flaw, which can be turned into a positive trait through a quest.
In an interview with Gamespot, the game's senior producer, Rachel Bernstein stated that the game will be more dangerous for Sims, with death and failure a possibility during the game's quests. Listed dangers included low focus on quests, plague, peasant revolts, wildlife, poisons, duels, and more.[4] Unlike past games, there is a definite beginning and end to the game. Players earn ratings at the end of the game depending on their performance. Players may also reach "Quest Failed!" screens if they do not complete a predefined goal in a predetermined amount of time.
I was going to play some Sims 3 a few weeks ago until I realized I have no idea where the DVD case is. The same DVD case with the product ID number on it. Pfft. The disc is worthless now.
Physical copies failed again. Downloadable future FTW.

So because your autistic self forgot the case it sucks. Hmm ok. Stick to being tied up with other naked men.
The Sims Medieval has successfully breathed new life into a franchise that was getting pretty stale. The Medieval setting combined with the streamlined gameplay and quests create an evolved Sims experience that feels deeper and much more fun than any of the other recent Sims games. If you’ve given up on The Sims, you’d be smart to give The Sims Medieval a try. Even with its minor flaws, The Sims Medieval mixes a great sense of humor with simple role-playing game mechanics that result in hours of fun.

Indie developer Blind Mind Studios has decided to remove the option to purchase their game Star Ruler from Impulse after GameStop officially takes over the digital distribution service from Stardock. As their website states: "We are ending sales through Impulse due to GameStop's long, negative behavior toward the PC platform and independent games. We would never have signed onto distribution through GameStop, and being forced into this situation has only made it worse for us. We feel GameStop cannot serve as the leader of a true competitor in the digital distribution market."

Tried Spiral Knights. It's kinda fun, but like a pared down Torchlight that you have to keep putting money into. Fun enough for a few days, but easily forgotten.

Anyone getting The First Templar? It's kind of sparked my interest.
Capsized demo was, uh, it has nice ideas but the feel of the game is so loose. Nothing has impact. It is sad because it looks like Metroid, and you have a grapple and a jetpack, which is enough for make a game seem interesting.
Downloadable action game Hydrophobia is coming to Steam and the PlayStation 3, Eurogamer can exclusively reveal.
Hydrophobia Prophecy is described as version 1.5 of the game that began life on the Xbox 360 last year.
It also follows the December 2010 release of Hydrophobia Pure on Xbox Live Arcade.
The game includes new levels – around 70 per cent of the game is new - and existing levels have been reworked.
The cover system has been improved, and combat is now possible from climbing points. The game is said to have a "proper, dramatic new ending", with an expanded storyline. There are new voice actors, too.
And the game has been augmented, developer Dark Energy Digital said, with feedback gathered from the Hydrophobia Listening Post.
"It's Hydrophobia 1.5, really," managing director Deborah Jones told Eurogamer.
"It's also not the original and it's also not Pure."
"The game is now hugely longer," DED boss Pete Jones added. "We've honed, refined and developed the stuff people liked, and we've added a bunch of new stuff that's gone down really well in usability tests."
The Steam version launches on 9th May, with a pre-order price of £7.64 / $10.19.
The PlayStation Network version, which launches shortly after the Steam version, supports the Move controller, and will be similarly priced.
Here, the navigation controller controls player movement, and the Move controller is used to control the camera and aiming.
Pete Jones said "the ultimate decision" on whether DED will bring Prophecy to the Xbox 360 is Microsoft's, but "it's our intention to do so".
The Steam version of Prophecy includes a developer feedback system, called Darknet, built in. It allows players to pause the game and send contextually augmented feedback to DED's servers in real-time.
Prophecy brings the Hydrophobia story arc to a close, but DED wants to expand on the concept with "other stories within the Hydrophobia universe".
"We want to be the first game and the first developer that truly has a one-to-one connection with the community," Jones said.
"We're a bit of a slow starter and we made mistakes in the beginning, but we've got there in the end. We've been committed heart and soul to this project. We believe in it completely. We've created something now we're all very proud of."

Combat is hard. Even on normal. One on one you're going to be fine, two on one is tricky, three on one is a fight for your life, 4 or more you have no chance. Aard and Yrden are a must, as is blocking. Rolling is not good enough to spam it, better to position yourself correctly. You can't insta switch between swinging your sword and, say blocking, Geralt has to regain some balance beforehand so no kamikaze strikes or you're dead.
PC Bore,
How are Modern Warfare 2 and Black Ops online? I have Modern Warfare, but always get hit with this Punkbuster crap that NEVER lets me get into a game. I have tried updating Punkbuster but nothing ever works. I remember reading that MW2 was nothing but cheaters. Bullshit? True?
EDIT: Now Punkbuster works...but I'd prefer to play MW2 if it isn't shit online on PC.

Haven't played too much, just cleared mission three in the campaign I think, but shit is awesome.

Man, when I saw "Pride of Nations" I was thinking that it might be a new Rise of Nations game. *sigh*
Someone needs to bring that series back.
just set up my GOG account and bought the first Gabriel Knight (haven't played them before), since the recent Gemini Rue reignited my interest in retro adventure games
Just bought Jamestown. I've only played for like 30 minutes, but it's a pretty fun game. It seems very novice friendly as well, so I'd definitely recommend giving it a shot.

I'm liking it, but the whole 16:9 vertical shooter deal is giving me some trouble. Your ship doesn't move very fast, so when you need to get to the other side of the screen to take out an enemy, you usually can't get there in time unless you know it's coming (I guess).
are there any games that take advantage of more ram?
stuff happened and now I have 8gigs in my computer. off the top of my head, Metro 2033 had the requirement "AS MUCH RAM AS POSSIBLE"

I've been waiting around for Dyad to show up on PC since its release, and now it's finally here. (http://store.steampowered.com/app/223450/) I got to play some before going to work and it's exactly what I expected after seeing gameplay videos i.e. super-fucking-rad. I'm very happy I don't have to buy a PS3 to play it :)
Those who aren't familiar with it, the best thing I can compare it to is a rail shooter like Rez, but with added gimmicks that will likely overload your senses.
I put a couple hours in reus, but then got bored. Never really figured out the right way to play the game
Gunpoint is out next week but you can play the demo now: http://www.gunpointgame.com/
It's a stealth/hacking/puzzle game with the lunge from that Wolverine game.
the awesome 2D art makes me interested in Night of the Rabbit, but I'm getting the consensus that Daedalic hasn't yet made a game as good as their visuals are.
That's certainly the case with A New Beginning, which I'm going through this last week, which is solid, if not spectacular.

The game looks alright. Graphically it looks kinda drab though, and I expect the game to be as clunky as previous efforts from the developer. On the other hand, I do like world/city building, but this one doesn't seem to have the same sense of scale :(Previous efforts? I thought this was his first project since leaving the industry. Hopefully Banished doesn't turn out to be as boring as the Anno series. I played the original way back when and they have not fundamentally changed since then. Banisheds higher focus on micro-managment looks promising. The Anno series is great and I'm expecting Banished to be fantastic too. Unlike most other resource management sims it seems like it's actually challenging and it's easy to reach a fail state. Anno and Settlers are mostly limited by how much land is available for new buildings. Having to plan several years ahead just to make plum ale is weirdly captivating.

Having to plan several years ahead just to make plum ale is weirdly captivating.I adored the first game and setting up trade routes was fun in 1404. I watched some guy's Youtube series of the Imperator scenario from 1404 Venice. Highest difficulty, aggressive AI opponents, huge map, etc. and that just kind of put a lid on the series for me. With the exception of the combat I had done everything he had, just not as efficiently and seeing it deflated any kind of desire to play more. I looked at the other scenarios and immediately lost interest in puzzling out how to do them. I dunno, I think those games are just lost on me now. Not even 2070 seemed to be all that different from what I've seen in the demo.

shame sunflowers are under ubi's boot now, forced in to a F2P web game purgatory. they're still the genre kings and i'd love to see them return to a period setting. even if they're running out of dates which add up to 9.Sunflowers only ever published the games afaik. Up until 1404 anyway, when Ubi took over. The first two were developed by Max Design who've shut down after 1503. Related Designs developed 1701 and its expansion and then Blue Byte collaborated with them on 1404, Venice and 2070. I don't know if any of the original developers migrated to all these companies over the years but I kinda doubt it. People don't really move around the country (or to other countries, in Max Design's case, since they were an Austrian company) to chase a job like developers in the US seem to do.

jump was broken in my experience. you'd not jump but rather hop. it made some of the platforming very difficult / obnoxiousYeah, that's why you have to crouch-jump a lot more than I remember from the original.
Woah, hold the phone: Mikami's Survival Horror is coming to PC?
Hell. Yes. :hyper :hump :drool

Sorta forgot about the game.
What are good recent indie titles on Steam? Aside from Rogue Legacy, Stanley Parable, Papers Please, Jazzpunk, and uhhhh I guess Gone Home? After I beat Link Between Worlds I want a good pc game to play alongside FFVII. Of those games, which should I get? I play Spelunky every day btw so I definitely think Rogue Legacy is out for now. I want that new Doublefine adventure game, but I'm going to wait till part 2. I dunno. I'm just in the mood for a good crpg but I don't want BG2 because I've played it enough times and Might and Magic X...ugh I'm not big on that style of first person rpg. May just get Ultima 7 from GOG.
Volgar the viking and niddhogg
Also the capitalism waifu sim (that I can't recall the name of) would go well with headwalk's suggestion.
The Berlin campaign is out on the 27th for Shadowrun Returns, you might want to check that out.
Ever played one of the Spiderweb Software Rpgs? They are ugly, but play very zippy and have decent enough writing.
The latest release Avadon 2 got good reviews and I can recommend Avernum: Escape from the Pit as well.
Can we please have an overview for 2014/2015 titles for people like me who are starting to adopt the platform in a more serious manner rather than gaming on it every few months? Star Citizen and No Man's Sky are at the top of my list, as are Project Eternity and Torment 2, but what else? I like Warhorse.

You can usually get Tropico 4 comlete for less than $10 during a sale, best to start with that.
