Yu Suzuki says it's probably happening. Fingers crossed.
Perhaps with the success of the RGG series we can hope for a Shenmue renaissance?

Seriously? :fbm
Yes, unfortunately:
f you’re waiting for Sega and Yu Suzuki's forklift simulator Shenmue 3 to finally be made, you may have to wait a little longer: Sega’s US PR has told BeefJack, very apologetically, there are currently no plans for a North American release.
“Shenmue 3 is a Japan-only game and there are no plans for a NA release ever. Sorry about that!” reads the statement. "But we are releasing a special downloadable version of Lucky Hit for all our North American fans, so look forward to that."
Shenmue has been long sought after, comfortably beating "a good Sonic game" to the top of the die-hard Sega fans wishlist, though it’s anyone’s guess how much of this was down to the scantily-clad sailors on the mock-up box posted on deviantART.
I’m playing the import [in my mind], and I can tell you it’s certainly a great game… though complaints from Japanese players about the inclusion of sailors is not an exaggeration. Seriously, it makes Butt-Pirates 2: Hidden Booty look like a Master and Commander. We’ll bring you a longer writeup on BeefJack just as soon as we can.
