This one Dominican laborer at work started fussing with HR regarding his ethnic status on his personnel file. Apparently, he learned that someone in HR designated him as "Black" on his paperwork, as opposed to "Hispanic," and he didn't approve. Now, I'm not one to defend my company's human resources department because they're a pain the ass, but this is ridiculous. And what's worse, this isn't the first time I've heard of this...(http://somewhatmanlynerd.com/avatars/jackfingeravatar.gif)
Dominicans, particularly dark-skinned ones like this guy, are BLACK, yet some of them insist that they're Latino in the official sense. Why? I don't know. Either it's a cultural plot to disassociate themselves with their OBVIOUS African lineage or because they assume knowing the Spanish tongue exonerates them from the Black label, which is foolish since, under such an erroneous basis, dark-skinned Haitians can just as easily claim to be White due to their French background. These Brown-washed assholes also probably think they could have walked into any racist establishment in the 60s and be immediately excused from the old "NO NI*****S ALLOWED" policy because they're among the unfortunate members who can understand Pitbull's lyrics. NEWSFLASH - you wouldn't have gone in not due to your breath smelling like Brugal; you wouldn't have gone in because YOU'RE BLACK!
If you have a Dominican friend like this, who insists on raising hell for being APPROPRIATELY labeled in the ethnic sense, slap the shit out of him/her.
I'm pretty sure he's more of the taco variety, and sheeeeit, I know I am.:bow Himu :bow2
Chitlins are ass. Almost literally.

I'd be all "shit, I guess they did see me in the shower":lol

black AND hispanic? My white blood is boiling. I don't think I can take that much dirty.
Domnican's and many hispanics don't like to attribute themselves to being black. They see themselves as being Dominican, their country identity, first and foremost. Just like how with many asians, they see themselves as CHINESE, or JAPANESE or KOREAN -- first and foremost.
One reason for this is that many Dominican's look down on blacks and don't want to be tied to any form of black culture or identity. There is a split on the island. Read up on it.
This is also not special to Dominican's. This happens with just about anyone I know hispanic and looks black.
It can be annoying how some are like I'M NOT BLACK when they clearly look black, almost if they have some self hate thing going, but that's just the way they were raised.
next time on Booger Bothers: "What's an African American? You're BLACK"

We're not talking about country of origin, but ethnicity. Some of these cats are confused, and probably think that when their authentic latino girlfriend invites them over to family dinner for the first time, they'll get a warm reception from the folks, when they're more likely to get chased out by Papi's Cuban rifle.
That's why I have a newfound respect for Haitians. They speak French, act like French people sometimes, but they can admit that they're Black.

For the sake of my hate for our pc society, I'd agree with him.
"African American" is fucking stupid and I refuse to call label as such.
Nintendosbooger needs to start more threads. Don't be so niggardly with your posting!

How many White people do you know who refer to themselves as "European American" or how often do you see that label on any official documentation? You don't, because White people don't want to be reminded that Europeans came here on boats, as well, except theirs was wooden instead of banana.
Its weird 'cause the only person he's trolling directly is diunx. The fuck. Did some darker skinned being take your leg lift machine and leave you brooding near the water fountain? Its gonna be ok.

Clearly you've never been to Jersey.

It's not even just Italian Americans. Most European Americans are very quick to point out their heritage. Irish American, Italian American, whatever. Apparently it's only a problem when black people do it
That's your opinion. Many people disagree with you, and indeed label themselves as ____-American
Just pointing out opinions are broad on the subject, and I just find it borderline insulting it's only a problem when black people use it; not from you obviously, but in the case of the Boogers of the world

Oh, I know, no worries. Boogers' comments were extremely culturally insensitive. It doesn't bother me when we use the term African American or Latin American, but for some reason when white dudes go on about how they're Italian American or Irish American etc., it makes me laugh as they have probably zero in common with actual Italians or Irish people.
Visiting the Cherokee reservations in Tennessee was depressing actually. Most of it is quite a shithole :-\
Native American, bitch! Booyah! You too, Himu. Let's stand together, brother. Cherokee 4 lyfe.

Is this too long for the news feed?
You act as though there is anyone, anywhere besides yourself that should give a fuck.

When I visit NY this fall, can I stay with you?
