Title: Aksys Games having a Japan benefit sale
Post by: tiesto on March 17, 2011, 10:01:11 AM
Buy some games from the Aksys store, and 100% of the profits will go to relief. I'm gonna pick up Blazing Souls Accelate, Jikandia, and BlazBlue: Continuum Shift when I get home. I know you guys want Record of Agarest War and the loli pillowcase and mousepad

Quote
As most of you, I’m sure, already know, the country of Japan was recently hit by a serious earthquake, followed by an even more devastating tsunami. We decided we wanted to do something to help. Our CEO, Akibo Shieh, had this to say:

The thoughts and prayers of our staff are with the people of Japan. We have many friends, relatives, and business partners who have found themselves suddenly faced with a level of tragedy that most of us can scarcely imagine. The scale of destruction is immense, but we have no doubt that with a combined effort it can be reversed, and every contribution—no matter the size—will play an important part in doing so. We can all play a part in helping Japan overcome this crisis.
With that in mind, we at Aksys Games would like to announce the following sale. It will run from today until March 24th, and 100% of the proceeds will be donated to charity efforts in Japan. If you can’t afford to buy anything, spread the word. Together, we can help.

Head to our store to check out the items on sale, or hit the jump for a list.

Guilty Gear 2 :bow

One of this gen's few hidden gems.

Also, everyone should own Death Smiles. Easily one of the best games on the 360.

I think you meant to say "Legend of Agarest War". :teehee

Cool.

Picked up BB CS since I'd been waiting to get it eventually since I liked CT.
Picked up GG2 because of your raving in the what are you playing thread
Double dipped on Deathsmiles to support Cave shmups getting US releases.

One post down from the sale they note that gamerpics and themes for DS are up now. Time to switch my gamer picture to EVIL COW once my machine comes back from repair. :rock

I don't think GG2 is a 10/10 amazing game or anything... It has its share of problems (there are a few REALLY awful story missions), but it's a very unique game and worth checking out if the concept of RTS + Tower Defense + ASW fighting game interests you.

I might get BBCS from them, since I switched to a U.S. 360 months back and my J-copy doesn't work on it.  I know I can get it elsewhere for $20, but I'd do it for donation reasons.

I'm sure you are aware already, but it's the same as the LE version without the flimsy easily-dented LE cardboard box.

Would pick up some stuff except I have everything I want already.  :-\

Guess I'll go back to scouring the iTunes App store for marked down games with proceeds that all go to Japan Red Cross or some other place.

As far as I know its just standard editions with the goodies. Not the hot LE box, and as an avid and particular anush0g I wish to have it all

Trying to think of a polite way to tell them to not send the soundtrack

Are any of the 360 games region free?

Probably not, I remember a Euro asking if they'd be able to import their release of Death Smiles on their forum and the official reply was 'we only have the license for NA so we have to include region coding'.

Figured as much. Local version of Death Smiles is AU$60 but we have parity with the US$ so $30 for the LE sounded good.

Is Record of Agarest War worth playing? I recall it's kind of an S-RPG, which I like. I don't really get into standard RPGs, but stuff like FF:T is fun.

no, stay far away.  Idea Factory.

It depends... do you fashion yourself playing it mainly for moe animu girls and story?

The S-RPG portion is relatively non-offensive for a ideaf game, just extremely tedious and not fun (but even that can be handled to a limited extent with the autoplay and autoskip functions). Not a game worth playing solely on its S-RPG merits.

you know i think one of those days i'm going to dip into that record of agarest war for the simple fact that i never played a idea factory game and playing game made by new companies sometimes yields nice results
