A propulsive ride worth your popcorn dollar, not for its preposterous genre tinkering but for its refreshingly humanist take on a high-concept gimmick.

Quote from: Empire Magazine
An exciting, intellectually stimulating science-fiction thriller which also connects emotionally. Everyone involved earns a promotion to the premiership.

Quote from: Total Film
A clever, classy and affecting thriller that never goes off the rails.

Less introspective and ambitious than Jones' first film, but it's also more mainstream and accessible, in all the best ways.

Quote from: Richard Roeper
Confounding, exhilarating, challenging--and the best movie I've seen so far in 2011.

Moon was one of my favorite movies from 2009, so I was pumped for Source Code from beginning, but it's great to see it getting positive reviews.

I'm still surprised it wasn't Shia Lebouf.

Is that who directed it? Niiice. I had actually written this movie off but I'll probably give it a chance now.

An adorably preposterous concept becomes far less important than the compelling journey these characters take and the sympathetic actors who insist, with their performances, that we come along for the ride.

Nice!  The trailer looks like generic genre crap so I wasn't pumped.  But my favorite part of Moon was the human emotional aspects so it seems like he was able to integrate it very well.  Yesssssssssssssssssss

Who thought of the title?  No matter what goes on in the trailer the title Source Code is an instant pass when you hear it.  You can imagine Keanu running away from an explosion on the poster while a shady looking guy and computer stuff goes on in the background.

That pretty much guarantees that it'll make $200 million domestically.

You guys will eat this shit up.

After spending most of the movie investigating a few Arab looking fellows on the train,

the bad guy ends up being some pro America Extreme "Tea Party" member.

Sounds right up everyone here's alley.

Am I the only one (yes) who hates and always hated trailers? I hate the way they're set up and that they got to have bits from scenes scattered from the whole fucking movie in them.

Ghahhahahahha, movie of the year then

After the movie everyone in the audience stayed and had a group session about race and bigotry in america post 9/11. It was the most meaningful movie I've seen since Avatar opened my eyes.

Yeah, I heard 9/11 was actually masterminded by Larry the cable Guy.

Jesus, dude.

I'm as big a politics geek as anyone, but you've got a problem when you have to shoehorn every aspect of life into some imaginary ideological war.

What's next?  Complaining that the busty latinas in the NSFW thread shows a horrible pro-immigrant bias?

Anyways the trailer made it look super-cheesy, but good reviews + the director of Moon?  Sure, I'll give that a shot.

If that is the real plot, then they should have hired and arab actor over a white one.

someone needs to make a thread for 2-3 paragraph descriptions of films from a conservative perspective. Starting with Top Gun

This is the first I've heard of this movie, and I'm just bookmarking it so I can come back later. I'm not reading any more here because there are some truly lame spoilerjerks on this board.

You're a moron. The identity of the bomber doesn't even really matter, it could have been just about anyone on the train and it wouldn't have changed the movie at all.

Overall, I really liked it. Jake Gyllenhaal really nails his character and you can feel his confusion in being put into such a bizarre situation. The last five minutes take things a bit farther than they should, but it's not really surprising. The "fake ending" was better than the real one, in my opinion. But it's a minor blemish on a very enjoyable movie.

Very enjoyable movie, hints of Moon in some aspects (though I felt Moon was better... the whole isolation of that movie worked much better for me), but wasn't really feeling the ending that much. Majora's Mask fanboys will feel right home with this.

I thought it would have been a better movie without the last five minutes.

The whole "Oh, it actually CAN change the future, after all!" just felt tacked on and didn't fit with the rules of the technology. It also felt too "Hollywood". Having it end with Captain Stevens stopping the bomber and everyone on the train enjoying a moment of peace [just before he is unplugged and allowed to die] would have been a stronger ending.

Just saw this.  As long as you're not too bothered by some typically flimsy pseudoscience and a touch of sentimentality, it's totally worth a watch.  Really fun, claustrophobic thriller.
