Theories:
spoiler (click to show/hide)
- When it was announced that we're going to see the first meeting between the doctor and River, they were referring to the 200-years older Doctor meeting River on that shore (as in, she's the girl in the astronaut's suit in 69 and on the beach). So we've seen in the first episode two different Rivers as well as the two different Doctors. The only argument against this so far, is that the girl had an American accent.
spoiler (click to show/hide)
- River Song is in jail because she killed the Doctor.
spoiler (click to show/hide)
- Amy's pregnancy is a pretty big deal, a potential twist would be that she shot her own kid lol, although I've yet to see some proof giving weight to this.
spoiler (click to show/hide)
- The Silence has, as you have probably guessed, been appearing throughout season 5. The characters have seen them in more than one occasion, but clearly forgot. They're obviously what caused the Big Bang.
spoiler (click to show/hide)
- Some are suggesting that they might not be evil, but that is countered by the one killing Joy (woman in the bathroom), I can see it going both ways honestly.
spoiler (click to show/hide)
- The marked numbers on the characters' skin (as seen in the previews) is probably the number of times they've seen the Silence.
spoiler (click to show/hide)
- The ship that River and Rory investigated was the same one from "The Lodger" episode. From the few bits that we know: someone who kills Timelords appears later in the series, and that James Corden's character comes back. Not only that, but The Lodger was the episode where Amy saw a Silence in the TARDIS.
spoiler (click to show/hide)
- The regeneration shot at the beginning of the episode is different from the one that was in the teasers/trailers, meaning there might be another regeneration this season. Whether it's a different one, or the same one re-imagined after altering the timeline remains to be seen.
And that's all I know at the moment. Everything is pure speculation, none of those theories are confirmed or leaked. Also, someone spent the time to draw the Doctor and River's encounters through their opposite timelines.

!!!UNLESS!!!

River IS Amy's daughter :dizzy
Obviously the episode asked more questions than sharing answers, especially regarding Amy's pregnancy and the mystery of what happened on the beach, but looking at the previews it's obvious these will be discussed at the mid-season finale at the soonest :-\
A Detailed Chart of River Song and the Doctor’s Time-crossed Relationship (http://io9.com/#!5797733/a-detailed-chart-of-river-song-and-the-doctors-time+crossed-relationship)
Confused by how River Song's timeline interacts with the Doctor's? Someone has made a handy infographic showing one possible way that all of the events in their lives could match up, based on what we know so far.

This awesome infographic comes via AndorianBlues on Reddit, who writes, "This is my attempt to make sense of the timelines." [Thanks Miguel and eveywiechert!]

Much better than the one I previously posted.
I've always thought that spoiler (click to show/hide)
River is Amy's daughter... you know... River... Pond... water words... play on words.
Just finished episode two... WHAT THE SHIT JUST HAPPENED?
spoiler (click to show/hide)
Little girl is a timelord??!?
Episode was meh to okay. Next week's, however, looks much more exciting and will debut...
spoiler (click to show/hide)
The figure that proclaimed killing hundreds of Timelords.
Also: Women with visor made a second appearance this week :omg
Yeah, I noticed that spoiler (click to show/hide)
the character was forgotten as well... my friends and I were like "What the hell, there's a missing guy... :lol"
I enjoyed the episode well enough though, but I really hope the next one is better. Since it's called "The Doctor's Wife", I expect REALLY BIG things from it.
Also, what the fuck is with this intro bullshit? Has anyone noticed that instead of the normal intro, they have some spiel from Amy talking about "her doctor"? The show is "Doctor Who", not fucking "Amy Pond". I do not like this. While I think Karen Gilliam is hot as shit, the show is NOT about her.
Edited for spoiler tags for those whom have not seen the episode yet.
A major step down from last week's episode, but nowhere near as crappy as the pirate episode...

It was ok. It had a bunch of nice ideas, like the ganger-existential ones, but was ruined at the end by the lady-with-zapper plot device. The twist at the end was also predictable, but I'm fine with it.
I'm actually looking forward for the second part, especially if they're going to identify the flesh as Autons, and somehow tie Rory's reluctance with the fact that he was (still is?) at one time one of them.
Funny thought mentioned elsewhere: what if the Doctor that was shot at the beginning of the season is actually the ganger lol? That would be one of the lamest and most clichéd pages to be pulled out of comic books.
so, episode 6....
uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
and next week's episode is the mid-season finale and part one of a two-parter. Part two is in September >:(
I'm pleased with that.

I'd been thinking it was going to go a similar route for some time now, actually. Though I can't wait to see what the next episode is going to be, since it's called "Lets kill Hitler" :rofl
It was fine. My problem is that nothing mattered or made a difference.
spoiler (click to show/hide)
If the Doctor just told River to look into his eye at the beach, she'd kill him as planned and everything would be fine. Instead, based on a misunderstanding, she refused to kill him and that's what destroyed time and blah blah blah she eventually realizes what's happening and we're back to the beginning.
Unless there was a plot point where the suit was recording everything River saw or did, it just felt like a lot of fluff to get to the same resolution.
