Soon before Bush has to give Ford's state funeral good old Bob Woodward comes out with a embargoed interview with President Ford where Ford lays into the Iraq War and trashes the administration. :lol This is funny since Ford himself was a Republican and Rumsfeld and Cheney were his protegee's more or less!
He said:
""Rumsfeld and Cheney and the president made a big mistake in justifying going into the war in Iraq. "
"I just don't think we should go hellfire damnation around the globe freeing people, unless it is directly related to our own national security."
He also said Cheney developed a "fever" about the threat of Terrorism and Iraq. :lol :lol

I wonder what the prescription for that is...

Rumsfeld and Cheney as his proteges? More like the other way around.

How would that even be possible?

Yea, how could staff members manipulate the president? That's never happened. Certainly not the two men in question.

I miss my old school Republicans.
People like Chafee, Ford, Rockefeller, and pre-brainwashed McCain were decent guys. Non christian-right Republicans could be pretty cool.
Too bad that wing of the party is more or less dead.

Pretty much. I've pretty much disassociated myself with the new Republican party and when people ask, I just say "I'm conservative." I even voted for *shudder*, Kerry, that's how much I hate Bush.

You know, if McCain had kept his mouth shut for the past 6 years, I wouldn't have any issue voting for him in the next elections, but I think he's revealed himself to be a tool of the highest degree.

So of course, he still has a great chance of winning in this wonderful country.

Those chances are diminishing by the day.

These days, I'm not counting anything out until the fat lady sings.

Agreed.

McCain's approval has been dropping pretty hard among independents the last few months so don't get too depressed just yet.

Thank you.
