is coming out in 2 weeks.
who's buying it?
-
I will
so, when is the next steam sale?
-
already bought
along with Witcher 2, Brink and pre-ordered L.A. Noire
Dirt 3 looks awesome, like its going back to its rallying roots.
-
I was all set to until I found out that it has a zombie mode.
Zombies in any way shape or form is my equivalent of 10 year old looking lolis with DDD cup tits who claim to be demons born 3000 years ago so that way creepy pedo fucks feel less guilt about beating their meat to underage anime porn.
-
How do you have zombies in rally racing game wtf
-
I think I am. Heard there is supposed to be an assload of rally tracks...it's been a while since I cracked out on a rally game.
-
i read some stuff on the game awhile back and apparently the way they've change the racing model - you'll be able to successfully pull off a scandinavian flick which is pretty awesome.

The undead mode will be an alternative to the more traditional head-to-head and eight player multiplayer. One player will be an infected driver, and will have to try and infect other players on the track. Once infected the windshield will become green and slimed-up to represent the infection. The designers wanted to put hordes of zombies on the track for players to drive through, but the vehicle manufacturers didn’t want their products being driven over humanoid figures.
That doesn't sound too bad.
Sounds lame. Carmaggedon or bust.
-
has online pass, guess i wont be playing it online
fuckers
-
Will be waiting for a steam sale
-
never played Dirt 2 online, probably won't play Dirt 3 online

yep, the rally tracks and vehicle physics look amazing
I am so pumped for this.
-
i blindly bought it. i mean realistically it should be great. how could it not?
-
it's out,

gymkhana looks awesome, there's even a free roam mode where you can do missions and stunts like in Tony Hawk
-
spoiler warning:
the game is fucking great
i would have screenshots for you guys but for some reason radeon pro didn't save any of them and steam isn't taking screenshots either ???
but fyi it looks amazing too
-
will get soon, but undecided on what system...PC will look the best, but I think I am leaning towards 360.
-
unless you are planning on playing with specific people on console - PC is the way to go. no excuses.
-
Eh, thinkin big comfy couch and double dippin for some sale. Still thinking about it though.

the upload to youtube feature works. too bad it's low quality.
that's kind of a Scandinavian flick. i dont like the break i do just before but i managed to pull it out in the end. the car physics are really good and in the video my car really did flick out when i steered hard to the left.
-
all i want from next gen is for them to make this game like SSX3; just have one big giant ass mountain that you can race down in rally, or if you are a big enough asswhole spend a half hour doing 1 rally race down a mountain.
-
I like it but they need to stop putting all these unskippable cutscenes in my racing games. Combined with the lengthy loading and short tracks, my dirt stats say 13 mins behind the wheel, my steam game time says 43 mins played. :\

That was Fuel.
-
fuel wasn't really rally racing though.
-
True.
-
Rally racing is usually over a set track though. Maybe you want something like Paris/Dakkar
-
Maybe I should use this to christen the new PC

this achievement took me awhile to get because of the drift level. game is amazing tho. the gymkhana stuff is inspired, best score attack mode in a driving game ever - reminds me a lot of classic tony hawk.
are you guys using stability control for general racing? I find turning it off gives you more power/speed.
difficulty-wise, I'm finding intermediate too easy, while advanced is too hard. difficulty level 4 (in-between interm. and advan.) is the sweet spot for me, tho.
-
I turn it off but I also fuck up like every corner that I'm not looking ahead on the map to prepare for :lol Those rewinds save my ass many times over. Whereas with stability on, it's less of an issue.
-
Yeah without the rewind feature I'd have to leave stability controls on otherwise I'd be careering off every sharp turn.
-
A played some more today and I feel like I have a hang of the handling. Playing with all assists off and it's not too bad. Feels more friendly handling than some other games with assists off. As long as you look at the mini-map and see how the road curves ahead, you're pretty much fine outside of really slippery tracks like snow/ice where you just gotta get a feel for how you handle on it.
I like it, but man why is everything so short. I complained in the past about Forza 3 have races being 7-8 mins each and how that's too long for an arcade racer. Meanwhile here everything is ~90 seconds with 20-30 seconds of load screens and menus before and after. It's too bite sized and doesn't feel consistently satisfying. I think Dirt 2's races were more like 3-5 mins and that's really the sweet spot imo.

The full length Michigan rally track during the daytime is really nice looking. Probably my favorite track in the game.
-
I think Dirt 2 looks better than this. Maybe it's not doing as much technically or with as much detail but it doesn't look as good as the previous one.
Also the new menus SUCK. Where's Ken Block telling me how awesome I am or my own trailer with stupid stuff in it. Stereotypical Brittish polite woman, loud American male and generic Aussie bloke are pissing me off.
At least this was free. I would have paid for Dirt 2 (which I got for free with my GPU)

you're gonna have to explain yourself a bit better because i can't understand in any way how dirt 3 doesnt look better than dirt 2.
-
I just wish the guy would quit demanding that I upload my replays to Youtube.

^not a fair comparison. the tracks are the same but at different times of day under different conditions. the dirt 3 track looks like it's during the middle of the day so the sun is very bright and everything looks washed out. in the dirt 2 version is looks later in the day so the lighting is obviously warmer.
it's the same track but it's not an apples to apples comparison. but whatevs. maybe your eyes are weird. when I look at the kenya track i posted screenshots of above or even the snow tracks i see stuff better looking than anything in dirt 2 in terms of lighting and environments.
-
how do you access that gymkhana mode from that giantbomb quicklook where you collect stuff around a level?
-
what annoys me about this game is that you can't turn segments of the dirt tour menu gold unless you buy any DLC tracks that may be inside of it. i don't know how to explain it well, but fuck that anyway.
edit: god damn, triple buffering gets me a constant 60 fps even when I max out the settings. this shit is magic :bow
-
Dirt 3 has $50 worth of DLC. :-\
-
Dirt 2 looks better and is the better game. Dirt 3 is still good (although I felt I over paid @ $50 since I got Dirt 2 for $5), and both are way better than Dirt 1 which would've been better than both except the handling sucks and the lack of any rewind makes it annoying.
-
i will say that dirt 2 is an overall better package. but the racing model in dirt 3 is better and the rally races are the best they've ever been. landrush has always sucked and trailblazer was better in dirt 2. i'm of split minds on rally x since i really like the short tight circuit tracks but nothing can top battersea in dirt 3.
but dirt 2 doesnt look better. that's absurd and you're all being dumb when you say it.
-
Dirt 3's weather effects are amazing, especially the rain. The snow tracks are really well done as well, as is the night tracks.
I prefer the racing progression in Dirt 3 also, and the fact that it has a wider array of car classes to choose from (:heart Group B).
The Gymkhana stuff seems to be really polarizing, but I think its amazing and can't imagine Dirt without it now.
As a sequel, it does feel like a sideways step from Dirt 2, sure. But if they build upon the stuff they established here, Dirt 4 should knock it out of the park.
Just make everything regarding the annoying 'advisors' optional and skippable, thanks.

Why does EVERY SINGLE RACING GAME have this?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
-
I really want this but I'm trying to hold out for sale on Steam. I don't mind paying full price for certain games but I'm not sure Dirt 3 is one of 'em.
-
a lot of people (myself included) got it free from this AMD promotion thing that happened recently
I don't know what's happening with it now but there might still be an opportunity there. Gaf thread for reference: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=437998&page=31
-
IIRC there's 1000 codes per country, so I used Brazil to start with.
-
Well I tried the Korean one but I have no idea if it worked or not. I followed the directions in the thread but I didn't get any email confirmation.
-
Are the graphics significantly better than Dirt 2? I never got around to playing D2 much but I remember that it had pretty nice DX11 effects.
-
I'd say the same graphics level. Still looks quite awesome though.
