This x1000
Don't smoke, drink through a straw, or spit for a few weeks. A dry socket is nothing to play with

Well, I don't smoke, drink through straws, or habitually spit. So I guess just make sure I've got a cup of water handy at all times?

They'll probably also tell you to avoid certain foods, like burgers or anything that requires lots of chewing. Especially if you're getting both sides done at the same time
-
I had mine out last summer and it's no big deal. It is a slight inconvenience for the first few days and that's the worst of it.
-
I had dry socket when mine were pulled. Oh god. :'(

The problem is with my left jaw and I think that both my wisdom teeth on my right side have come in. Will probably just have one side done, but I guess I'll know for sure tomorrow.

what kind of drugs did they give you

Lortab 7.5 [Standard]

got this done back in january, both sides. wasn't too painful, but it's a bit of a hassle (bleeding, swelling, etc). try to put an ice pack on the first day to dampen the swelling at least.

My dentist was a dick so I still have one of my wisdom teeth. I had three removed (Two one time, and one the second) and I don't want to go back because I know that I'll be out of commission for another week or two. The second time he mis-stitched it and I bled for almost a week. I'm just gonna keep the last one and be done with it. :/
-
I was told I had to have this done in a year, 2 years ago :'( Gonna go after this semesters done
-
Pineapple - eat lots of pineapple. Releases enzymes that help make the pain manageable.
I have my top 2 teeth removed - the first time, I was bleeding for hours on end, in so much pain I couldn't go to work the next day. The second time, I tried a different dentist and didn't even get gassed - he just yanked them out... and in a few hours I was fine and eating spicy foods. Not even a need for meds or anything.
-
The dentist I'm going to seems pretty good, like somebody that actually cares about his patients. I'm not really worried there, but I may have to go to an oral surgeon for the actual procedure.
I'll make sure to pick up some pineapples.
-
My oral surgeon was this totally smoking little east african hottie. All the other staff at the joint were sexy ladies of various types and ages too. dentistry seems like a swell business to be in for anyone looking to engage some sexual harassment in the workplace.
-
Gotta go see an oral surgeon this Friday, all four wisdom teeth are coming out. Not really looking forward to it, but that was the recommendation from my dentist so I'll roll with it. Two of my wisdom teeth have already breached, they won't be a problem, but two of them are impacted [with one pressing against another tooth].
-
So, yeah, I'm going tomorrow morning to have those little rascals [my wisdom teeth] yanked out while I sleep peacefully under the influence of drugs. Fun!
demi can have my copy of Mana Khemia if I die.

did they give you the option? sometimes the case is so bad they just knock you out, but I chose to be awake for it. If was fun to watch the dentist pull out bloody pieces of teeth from my mouth, knowing that in a few hours I would be in a lot of pain. But there wasn't a lot of pain either. The guy gave me two prescriptions; one for regular ibuprofen and one for a stronger pain killer that I didn't bother picking up.

They didn't mention a choice, but I want to be asleep when it happens. Absolutely do not want to experience any of the operation, if at all possible.
-
I think that's how most people feel. For what it's worth, it's mostly painless outside of the 8 shots in your gums.
-
and one for a stronger pain killer that I didn't bother picking up.
:spin
-
All four came out and I didn't die.

:rock
Now bring on the jello and pudding mmmmm
-
and don't smoke, spit, drink out straw etc.
-
No sucking of any kind. :wag
-
Whenever I have to give that speech at work, I almost have to stop my self from accidentally saying "remember, no spitting, no smoking, no BJs"
-
My face has stopped being numb [for the most part], but now the aches are coming on. :(

that's what god made vicodin for, now go and pop them, guilt free of course
