I think virtua tennis 4 just came out and top spin 4 has been out for a while. anyone try both? last time I played each, top spin was better. but this top spin is by the mafia developer or something.
I'm downloading the top spin 4 demo but the virtua tennis 4 demo is only on the ps3...good call, sega.

gee thanks for the input :fbm
based on demos, top spin 4 is way better than virtua tennis 4.

Outside of maybe two people nobody on this board really plays sports games.
I would think it comes down to whether you want a sim or an arcade experience as that has become the dividing line on those two franchises.

I was a huge fan of Virtua Tennis back in the DC days... haven't played the 4th one though.

Top Spin 4 was developed by 2k Czech aka the Mafia 2 guys so...

I've heard good things about Top Spin 4

I bought VT 3 and never play it...so no idea. I may get one on the Vita though...but probably not. :(
everyone got burnt out on VT back on the DC!

yeah, I played Virtua Tennis on the Dreamcast and liked it a lot. Last one I played was on the PSP and that was still fun. The demo for Virtua Tennis 4 was just kinda bad. There are also four buttons now and I remember only 3 in the old games.
To be fair, the Virtua Tennis 4 demo is you as some rookie created-a-player doing early career stuff. Top Spin 4 demo is Federer vs Nadal. TS4 looks way nicer and just feels better to play. Last tennis game I got into was Hot Shots Tennis PSP last year and that's really arcade-y, so maybe that's why I appreciate TS4 more now.

Virtua Tennis has the same problem every good arcadey sports title has ala NBA Jam or Blitz back in the day. You really only need to buy one edition of it for the gen.
