The first Darksiders was fantastic, with pretty much the perfect ending to get me geared up for the sequel. Will get Day 1 if I can.

when War was like "my brothers are coming" or whatever and you saw those guys on horses blazing across the sky I was like "holy shit" and got so pumped
It's an easy recommend for anyone who wants god-of-war-lite in combat, and zelda in exploration. People who will dislike this game:spoiler (click to show/hide)
Anyone who hates IMAGE COMICS style of art.

the guardian
was awesome
when it starts and you're on your hourse i was like 'fuck yeah'
Been going through this over the past week. I don't know how much I have left but I've really been enjoying my time, well except the spoiler (click to show/hide)
Earth corridor shooter
section :yuck. I originally thought adding loot to Darksiders was a pretty dumb idea but it worked out pretty well, allowing me to slightly alter my playstyle with different gear stats. I'm kind of disappointed I started on Normal though, because the game is incredibly easy so far (well, the Crucible is more challenging) but I'm still having a blast.
Finished the game. 85% of the game is excellent. The other 15% is a mix of pretty OK to TERRIBLE.

The Earth shooter part. Straight up awful in every way. Completely mindless corridor shooting with waves of boring enemies and boring level design. Fire whoever decided to put that in the game.
Everything to do with Last Light and The Ivory Citadel are OK. The puzzles are pretty neat but fighting corrupted angels are a chore and it just feel like it's padding for the sake of it. They reuse a goal from previous in the game where you have to get the water from three sources turned on. Did they think we'd forget about Drenchfort?
Luckily the game manages to end on a pretty high note with two pretty great boss battles.
I have to say that the boss battles in this game were pretty much all really great, actually. I think there was one I didn't like but I can't remember which one. They all were clever and made you do a variety of tasks to defeat them.
The first and second worlds are def the best parts of the game. Going into the last act you feel the pace quicken as the areas you go to are smaller and the tasks are more simple. It's funny tho because that's how most of the dungeons are as well. Usually you have 3 things you need to do and the first two take a while, and the last is pretty quick.
If not for the terrible sections latter in the game this could easily be a shoe-in for GOTY but for not it's just going to be a contender. I'll def go back and do a ng+ if not just so I can take on the crucible and the arbiters soul maze.

This sums up my thoughts on the game pretty perfectly. I missed the big open worlds in the second half of the game, but I still loved the dungeon puzzles as they became more intricate and a little more difficult than the earlier puzzles.
My other big disappointment is the story. I didn't expect a masterpiece or anything, but it's still a sort of interesting world and spoiler (click to show/hide)
I would have liked to see the ending of the first game expanded upon.
Instead we pretty much just got a story filled with MacGuffin after MacGuffin.
Anyway, definite GOTY contender as of right now but with who knows where it'll end up. Hope we get a Darksiders III!
