Darksiders is a pretty cool Zelda clone.

Enslaved though.....ugh.  I remember when the demo hit and people were ragging on Enslaved which I took for a bunch of butt hurt fanboy nonsense as I kinda liked the demo, but after playing the full game I gotta say the haters were right.  The game is a repetitious bore with janky controls.

Heavenly Sword and now Enslaved.  That's strike two for these guys.

Quote
The following information comes from Lead designer Hayden Dalton...

- will be available on day-one of Wii U launch
- being developed alongside the other console versions
- has a small team dedicated to ensuring the Wii U version uses the controller in "a unique way"

"That's been very interesting to see what those guys are doing, and they're making efforts to make sure we do use it in more than a slapdash way. It's basically the core game, but then with added abilities to do certain things that you can't do on the other consoles.

One of the things that we did, when we were originally going to show it off, was that you could equip stuff directly. So, for instance, I could be running along and I could click on another piece and I could put it on as I'm running through the game. That's huge, it's not breaking up the game in a way, I'm not going into a menu and assigning it, I'm literally just tapping as I'm playing.

We're not basically heavily changing the core game to support the control system, but the control system will be an enhancement of the core game."

real time weapon changing only doable on wii u :o

its because publishers are scared shitless of releasing singleplayer only games anymore and they gotta figure out some way to shorehorn a "keep and don't trade in" feature into their game.

I mean, other then just making it good.

Personally I was a bit put off initially but the "xtreme" art style but the game is really really good. If you've ever enjoyed a 3d action/adventure game Darksiders is worth playing. It also has an "xtreme" storyline but it's actually pretty tounge in cheek at times. The main guy is SO SERIOUS

I have to check out the quicklook later.  Having a hard time getting a read on the game since they're playing up the loot action and I'm wondering if it's still a Zelda or Soul Reaver style game.  Darksiders 1 plus loot sounds like an awesome concept.

I think the last game had a similar problem where it was shown as an action game with a lot of DMCisms.  The puzzle and adventure parts were almost a surprise when it released.

Before I knew anything really about the game I was turned off because I thought it was a God of War style game and I don't really care for that genre and that particular game especially. When I played it I was happy that the combat is a part of the game but its not really a god of war beat em up style game.

I watched the Giantbomb video.  Interesting that they're playing the PC version and it sounds like a nice port.  The loot and action and Prince of Persia (2008, specifically) platforming looks great.  They briefly talk about the comparisons to Zelda but not much and I guess that part doesn't demo well.

The guy from the place played up the size of the game.  Said the first of four (?) areas is already larger than the entirety of Darksiders 1.  (I don't know if it's four areas.  I'm confusing myself with memories of San Andreas previews.)  And there's new game plus on top of that.  It's the type of stuff that'd be super exciting with a lot of free time  :'(

yeah, it's a choice action game that has all the thrills of any other AAA title, you can beat it in around 10 hours and it his kick ass mechanics that ape the best of any 3d Zelda game, with no bullshit. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this game to anyone that has ever enjoyed a 3d videogame. It checks all the right boxes and is pretty finely tuned and paced experience.

I enjoyed DS1, but the art style has been turned up even MORE in the sequel, and I'm not sure I can deal with it. If I'm going to be embarrassed in front of my fiancée, I'd rather play a weeaboo JRPG than Joe Mad's ANGRY FANTASY DUDES. At least the former I can blame on "Japan, am I right?"

I played this for a few hours. I only have a couple problems so far: for starters, I wish there was a sprint button. I think you spend a little too much time running to the next area, so it would be nice to speed that up. Or maybe the maps are just too big. And secondly, I wish they would show your current equipment's stats while you're standing over a new item. Doing that would make it so I never have to go looking through my inventory when equipping new gear. The game's fun though, and it seems to be better than the original in every way.

The pre-order items are really unbalanced too. I don't think I'll be using any of them. Dumb.

I didn't have any stuttering issues over here. V-sync did seem to be broken as i was getting 140+ fps and it was fluctuating so much that it was annoying. so i just used dxtory to limit the fps to 60.

also used the nvidia drivers to force fxaa, vsync, and triple buffering. now it runs perfect.

I'm just really liking this game. The pacing between action and combat feels really good. I never feel like they're overdoing it in either direction.

i'm finding the loot whore aspect to be pretty serviceable for their first real attempt at it. Possessed weapons and feeding weapons to other weapons it a neat idea. Right now I feel like I'm a bit over-powered but thats cool.

I'm about 11 hours in and I think I'm about little over half through so the game is a pretty good length.

I started on normal, but upped it to hard smartish or whatever it's called.

The field fight with the giant is pretty much where I'm up to, and really loving how good it looks on personal computer. There are screen tears, but it still look so good after playing iOS games 24/7.

The soundtrack is also seriously great, didn't realise Jesper Kyd did the Ass Creed music too.

Finished the game. 85% of the game is excellent. The other 15% is a mix of pretty OK to TERRIBLE.

Specifically:
spoiler (click to show/hide)
The Earth shooter part. Straight up awful in every way. Completely mindless corridor shooting with waves of boring enemies and boring level design. Fire whoever decided to put that in the game.

Everything to do with Last Light and The Ivory Citadel are OK. The puzzles are pretty neat but fighting corrupted angels are a chore and it just feel like it's padding for the sake of it. They reuse a goal from previous in the game where you have to get the water from three sources turned on. Did they think we'd forget about Drenchfort?
[close]

Luckily the game manages to end on a pretty high note with two pretty great boss battles.

I have to say that the boss battles in this game were pretty much all really great, actually. I think there was one I didn't like but I can't remember which one. They all were clever and made you do a variety of tasks to defeat them.

The first and second worlds are def the best parts of the game. Going into the last act you feel the pace quicken as the areas you go to are smaller and the tasks are more simple. It's funny tho because that's how most of the dungeons are as well. Usually you have 3 things you need to do and the first two take a while, and the last is pretty quick.

If not for the terrible sections latter in the game this could easily be a shoe-in for GOTY but for not it's just going to be a contender. I'll def go back and do a ng+ if not just so I can take on the crucible and the arbiters soul maze.

This sums up my thoughts on the game pretty perfectly. I missed the big open worlds in the second half of the game, but I still loved the dungeon puzzles as they became more intricate and a little more difficult than the earlier puzzles.

My other big disappointment is the story. I didn't expect a masterpiece or anything, but it's still a sort of interesting world and

Instead we pretty much just got a story filled with MacGuffin after MacGuffin.

I thought it was disappointing compared to the first. The loot didn't really amount to much. The various side quests were lame. The game was filled with obvious padding. The whole story was confusing, especially the ending.

It's up to you if you need to play it, but you won't miss anything if you don't.

I enjoyed the first game for the Zelda qualities.

Second one was more like Prince of Persia: Sands of Time with an overworld than Zelda.
