Famitsu loved it, but its getting weird scores! WTF IS GOING ON! :(
-
3 out of what? Not all people read Lamepro. :-\
-
OUT of 5. I woulda hoped for a 4, at 3 that means something in the game fell fat on its face. It got a flat 80 from someone else according to gamerankings. Flat 80 is kinda worrisome too. I mean an 85 is the score ill buy a game right away at, at 80 something is wrong so I gotta figure out whats wrong! WHATS WRIONG?!?! MY DREAMS ARE DYING!
-
Dude, it's Gamepro. If I remember they gave a DBZ game a perfect score once.
-
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo...........................*
wait...what?
-
When it comes to reviews, isn't Famitsu as worthless as Game Pro?
-
*sob*

Wait for someone credible to review the game.
-
This game has reeked of over-hype from the jump.
-
Oh noes someone hates this game its gonna suck!!
Im gonna get it because the multi rocks imo.
-
IIRC, they said it was too hard. Pussies

EGM
3/10

I bet multi is flawed.
-
multi gets a patch on the day of release anyway!

No it hasn't. This is one game where the media didn't have us by the balls with puffed-up previews. It's been verifiably awesome since May.
-
The last time I read Gamepro was in the 80's. No joke! Okay, it could have been 1990.
-
Gamepro isn't the only media outlet that's being underwhelmed by Lost Planet.
Two X360 magazines gave it average scores too...

If you play the demo, you can see why it's getting low scores. After the initial ten minutes - what more does the game have to offer?
OH NOES! Another room full of respawning spiders! ACK! Large spider crawls out of the snow~! TO THE MECHMOBILE!
Over-hyped rubbish - like Dead Rising - a great idea, with all the emphasis put in the wrong places (i.e not in the gameplay).
... Er ... probably ... Haven't played it other than the E3 demo ... :-[
-
Gamepro gives stars now?
Are you sure it wasn't a green meh face?
-
Gamepro are MORANS, MAF. That's what's up. It's an awesome shooter with great multiplayer and some actual CHALLENGE to it. It's not a cakewalk like Gears was.
This game has reeked of over-hype from the jump.
No, if anything, it's been UNDER-HYPED. ::) It's also missing that holiday release in the States, so it may end up sadly being looked over by people burnt out from all the shit that came out in November and December.

The demo was like a handjob from God. You, sir, are a grouch.

Since when is Gears a cakewalk? Did you play on Casual first?
Definitely underhyped in the shadow of Gears, but no way it's going to get overlooked. Not only do 360 owners buy any marquee title each month, but jack shit came out for 360 in Dec.
-
I dont like siding with admiral vis, but I really dont consider Gears of War to be a cakewalk. Short maybe, but its not a breeze.
-
Yeah, I'm comparing the difficulties on the default settings...
...But it's not even that. Lost Planet has boss encounters that Gears doesn't even touch on. It's like going back to the 8 and 16-bit school of difficulty in some instances. It felt very satisfying when I cleared some of them the first time. :)
-
Lol not doin so well. Ill buy it anyway but SOME component of it am busted.

Only one of those reviews are online (95% one) and the "two" xbox magazine ones are 80%. I'm guessing people don't want to play it in Japanese and the people that don't like it either don't like the type of singleplayer game or multiplayer game that it is because you've played it and know whether or not you like it and obviously neither one of those parts are going to be worse then the demos and if there's a patch at release for the multiplayer then they shouldn't have released the reviews (or at least not multiplayer reviews) until official release which makes you wonder why Capcom gave them the games before they could really see what the muliptayer would play like in performance and matchmaking.
-
i'm all for the arcadey run & gun style gameplay that lost planet offers. it's as if gaming publications have gotten so involved in "realism" and life simulators that mindless target practice has become so "1990s". i'll stick to my japanese "shoot the sweet spot to kill the enemy" games any day of the week. the ratings won't bug me one bit.

Hardcore is Gears' default setting.
Casual is for fucking pussies, it's not even the same game.
-
Blah blah blah great great. I have played them both. Lost Planet has moments that Gears simply DOES NOT HAVE. It's as simple as that. Both games are great, but I prefer Lost Planet. :badass
-
blah blah no one argued that. Blah blah you called Gears a cakewalk after playing on Casual :lol :lol
-
this just in, EGM gives it a 6.5/7.5/8.0.
no surprise there. it'll probably score a 9 in my book =].
-
I don't get it. ??? LP is way better than 6..5...
-
Anyone have text from these reviews to indicate the why?
-
EGM has been on a downslide for long time, no surprise there. multi gets a patch on release day so if thats why..i dunno.
-
GamePro? I haven't read GamePro since I was a 7th grader, fuck that magazine. It used to be good, but yeah, now it's terrible.

I dunno, enough outlets have dinged it that I think there must be something wrong. Considering this is from the Dead Rising dude, that is no surprise. From what I can gather, most reviews are pretty much stating that it starts out great, but it kinda peters out after a few levels. The multiplayer is solid but not spectacular - other games have better multiplayer and you will probably play them.
The demos have gotten nothing but love from me, so I'm kinda surprised. Have to see how the final product holds up. I can tell by the demo that it's already a better game than Gears.

Isn't it just 1up and Gamepro that gave the game above average scores? Didn't an EGM reviewer also give it an 8, and some other sites give the game higher scores? I think IGN gave it an 8.5, too.
For the record, I was all over the Dead Rising demo and couldn't get into the game when it came out. LP was not that way.

The thing is, the game only gets more and more intense with every level. It kept getting better, although the last boss fight could have been something more. Multi is a lot of fun, plus once the U.S. version is out, a patch is supposed to be out to address some issues. Some reviews have also barely even mentioned multiplayer and the various modes it offers. It's too bad that the reviews (none of which are really bad, save for that 1up score) seem to have people thinking this game isn't great. It was a blast to play. If you enjoy blowing lots of stuff up and taking on HORDES of enemies at once, you'll like Lost Planet. The boss fights are also far better than most third person shooters I can think of. The game really does a good job of bringing that old-school boss fight feeling back.
-
People actually care about what Gamepro thinks about games?
GAMEPRO????
-
The 1up review made no sense. Reading the review and looking at the score my head exploded. All I got from the review is he likes bugs more than mechs so the last half rox cause he wants BUGS

Stop worrying.
When was the last time Capcom failed to deliver on the hype?
When was the last time Capcom bungled up a high profile game?
When was the last time Capcom let us down?
This is Capcom we're talking about here. CAPCOM.
Stop worrying.
-
There was a period of time when Capcom sucked, im tring to remember but it was a few years ago before Maximo hit and after the Dreamcast :(
-
If I had a capcom shirt I would wear it proudly!
I want one...

i'll stick to your impressions of the game. i tend to agree with you most of the time.
