#3SOE info: 8 player lobby with spectate option.

#3SOE: In a lobby the next pair of players get to play rather than winner rotating through losers. Unsure if you can alter this in option.

#3SOE will have 100 trials and 100 challenges to earn points for use to unlock some 200 items from the Gallery Vault.

It sounds great.  I much prefer (S)SF4 to SF3, but I am still gonna be all over this.  I just hope the lobby options do include a normal "winner stays" option too.

Those videos are amazing. Is an outside company porting this, or is Capcom doing it internally? If it's outsourced, I'm so glad that Capcom found a company that puts quality above all else. This is as good, if not better than an M2 port. Even if I hated SF3 I would buy this day one just to support great work like that.

Plus, I'm really glad to see that the guy demoing the game knows what he's doing. That is depressingly rare.

OT, but SFxTK looks pretty good. Not sure if I like how everything is a chain combo though, it seems a little too simple. Guess I'll have to wait and see.

I play 3S off and on and it's REALLY jarring for the first few hours if you're used to Super Link-Fighter 4.  Apparently the character trials are relevant to mid-/high-level play, so that should alleviate some of the pain of trying to get caught up.  Hopefully they go through the Urien unblockable set-ups so I don't have to scour the internets trying to remember what they are.

Oro SA2 unblockables is probably asking too much since they're character specific.

The game is out on PSN today.

First time I loaded it up...it froze my PS3.   :lol  Saw others mentioning random crashes here and there.  It didn't crash on me again.

You can choose which music you want to use for each stage after you unlock the remixed themes, which is awesome.  Online is pretty good, but I'm not as impressed with the GGPO implementation as I expected to be.  Graphics are AWESOME.  The game looks fantastic on HDTVs.

It's also really, really hard getting into this game after so much SF4.  I still like SSF4 over this.

You shouldn't notice "lag", as it were, but the GGPO system is a little weird if you've never used it before.  It "predicts" things that will happen and rolls the action back if it was wrong.  In other words, and you'll definitely notice this if you play, you might hit someone at the end of the round and hear the K.O. sound cue, but then the game will roll the action back, show the block effect because they didn't actually get hit, and the round will continue.  It gets noticably worse on poor connections.  It fucks with hit verification pretty badly, but that's the conciliation for lagless online play.

My verdict on 3SO: 360 timing offline feels very similar to arcade. PS3 on the same setup feels laggy. I think it's more than 1F. 360 FTW.

The online is really, really good Bebpo, and the game also looks awesome on HDTVs.

Just did Yun's first 4 trials. I had some trouble with his third one (mainly the s.MP xx super part), but I got it eventually. The 4th trial was easy, and then I got to his 5th... fuck that. They're calling these his bread and butter combos, so I think Yun takes too much execution for me. :(

Parrying Oro's super. :lol That was fun.

I use the Mad Catz pad.  I got one after finally realizing that a good stick won't make me a master.

It's pretty good except for the shoulders.  I can pull off most specials pretty easily.  Supposedly they're not too reliable but mine has been pretty solid for several months now.  I'd love to get a Sega pad but I heard that most of the ones on the market are just imitations.

I had to switch to the MadCatz pad from my TE Stick. For some reason I could barely pull off a 2X QCF supers on the stick in this game. With the pad I could pull it off with no problem.

:lol Same. I can do Yun's lp, lk, mp xx super on a pad almost every time, but with the stick I have a hard time canceling into the super. I think we've just gotten sloppy due to SF4's very lenient inputs.

I can pull off fireballs and dragon punches with no problem on the stick but when it comes time to do two of those motions together the game tells me "nuh uh".  I found a tidbit on GAF that kinda helped where the shortcut motion for supers is QCF > D > DF + Attack. Doing that sometimes worked for me more often than the actual command.

3rd Strike still feels weird to me though.  SF4 feels much smoother to me in comparison.

The problem with the Hori pad is the shoulder buttons.  They are weird and somewhat uncomfortable to use.

I think another part of it is the cancel windows on stuff being way smaller for the most part, with a few notable exceptions.  Trying to get Aegis Reflector to come out after a shoulder tackle in Urien's trials was a serious pain in the ass.  I don't remember it ever being that difficult.  It would be helpful if training mode had an input display so I could see what the hell I was actually rolling.

Q
Charge characters feel odd to me in this game.

Don't think of them as charge characters; they're not, really.  The game isn't designed with classic charge characters in mind, so you're not generally looking for charge opportunities; it's rushdown oriented, turtling doesn't work, the parry system ruins charge, and most charge attacks on their own are pretty bad, too, unlike SF2/4.  Q's dash punches, for instance, shouldn't be used much outside of combos because they're so telegraphed and easy to parry.  They're only practical in command grab combos or for punishing something and canceling into SA1.  Urien's and Alex's tackles are similar.

Of everyone, Urien is probably the closest to a classic charge character, and he's also one of the more difficult characters to use effectively.

This game is so fucked up.  It makes me wait a few minutes for "Syncing Stats" when I try to create a Player Match, and then the game locks up before it creates it.  >:(

Yeah, the online is pretty messed up. Ranked match is unplayable, and 95% of the player matches I try to join I can't connect to.

Patch slated for Sept. 27th:

Quote

    - Fixes a bug that made it difficult to get into a Ranked Match, especially during times of peak traffic.
    - Fixes a bug that could cause players to have very large disconnection percentages (> 100)
    - Fixes a bug that could cause characters to become invisible online, or to be displayed with incorrect colors.
    - Fixes a bug that sometimes caused Hugo’s combo trial #2 to not detect correctly
    - Fixes a bug that permitted an exploit in Trial mode when using “stun” settings
    - Fixes some rare crashes
    - Improves network stability
    - Adds support for additional DLC packs
    - Raises the online level cap

The patch is currently going through the submissions process, and we are targeting a 9/27 release date. Make sure to check back as we will have more news about this update.

Also, we are working on another patch that will address some additional items, as well as add some new functionality to the game (hello dummy recording in training mode!).

Best news is that there's yet another patch in the works, hopefully looking to add some of the obvious oversights (like the lack of input display in training mode) and fix Twelve's X.C.O.P.Y. voice, which is like the only reason to even play Twelve.

Glad they're improving matchmaking. Last time I played it took like 3 minutes to get a match and it was against some guy in Japan (which was incredibly laggy of course).
