Nathan Drake: The mass murdering everyman that's fun for the whole family!what was with the weird sighing from the Naughty Dog fellas?..
I thought that was Jack Tretton.
Is that seriously the first time you've heard of that tech?
HOW MUCH MORE TIME DO WE HAVE AGAIN?!FOREVER
I just tuned in. His hair is grey. That was a surprise.

Times are tough, man.
No price announcement.
$400 confirmed.
Which is a option and you can use regular controls. But i odn't expect xbots being able to lsiten.
Sorry, did he just imply Sony started user created content as a whole with LBP?
Apparently the price was tipped off? From gaf
PS Vita is $249 for WiFi, $299 for 3G. http://aol.it/knTb8d
They will introduce the $400 handheld. Game over.

LOL
awwww. no "and one more thing" moment.
awwww. no "and one more thing" moment.
they're both fucked
Damn, $249 is pretty good. Even though PSP was the shittiest system ever I'm considering this.

They already said it's not this year; hence why ICO/SoTC are fall.

come on bro...
QuoteThat plus the Cafe turns out to be fucking awesome. Destroying expectations
it doesn't matter what Cafe is - Nintendo freaks will lap it up regardless.
I want to see it be something that makes the cynics go "oh! Well, that is pretty cool!"
The Wipeout video for the PSV was choppy as hell too. 60 fps or gtfo. They already said it's not this year; hence why ICO/SoTC are fall.
Everyone else seems okay showing trailers for games that are still a year and a half away.
I wonder what will come out first: Versus or TLG?
can you provide a league table ?
can you provide a league table ?
Somewhere between Neo Geo Pocket and the Lynx. I bought one a couple of months after launch and have bought four games since, one of which is unopened. :poop
and whos fault is that? PSP owns
I'd say that this is about on par with all the other shows today though Ubisoft killed it with games. The $249 price means nothing to me as I don't want a wifi only version and I'll never get the 3G version as long as it only works on fucking AT&T. Especially until AT&T makes the reception improvements for DC they've been promising.
$250
no third party?
Oh$250
no third party?
That was the Vita segment in a nutshell. I really regret staying up for this.
APPLE won E3 as far as I'm concerned lololololol.
QuoteBefore everyone gets their panties in a bunch over 3G or not, we should be asking about the battery life of this thing. If it's what I'm expecting it to be (shit), then 3G will be kind of pointless imo. Might as well just tether it to a hotspot.
if they are smart they'll allow removable batteries
It can't be any worse than the 3fuckingDS - i had two fully charged, i carried them around in wifi streetpass mode and within a day they are done without playing a single game.
fucking dumb
they'll drop the 3DS price by $20, pack in Nintendo Dogs 3D, and act like it's a big deal
i doubt they knock $50 off the price
SONY COMPUTER ENTERTAINMENT ANNOUNCES “PLAYSTATION®VITA” AS THE OFFICIAL NAME FOR NEXT GENERATION PORTABLE ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM
Wi-Fi Model: 24,980 Yen (including tax), $249 and €249
3G/Wi-Fi Model: 29,980 Yen (including tax), $299 and €299
Realizes Unparalleled Interactive Network Entertainment
Tokyo, June 7, 2011 – Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. (SCE) today announced
PlayStation®Vita (PS Vita) (PCH-1000 series) as the official platform name for the next
generation portable entertainment system (codename: NGP). Wi-Fi model will be available
for 24,980 yen (including tax) in Japan, $249 in US and €249 in Europe, 3G/Wi-Fi model will
be available for 29,980 yen (including tax) in Japan, $299 in US and €299 in Europe and
successively launch in global market starting the end of 2011.
“Vita”, which means “Life” in Latin, was chosen as the most appropriate name for the
next generation portable entertainment system as it enables a revolutionary combination of rich gaming and social connectivity within a real world context. SCE is aiming to transform every aspect of user’s daily life into an entertainment experience.
PS Vita incorporates a beautiful 5-inch multi-touch organic light emitting diode
(OLED) as the front display and a unique multi-touch pad on the rear. Together with the front
touch screen and the rear touch pad, PS Vita offers new game play experiences never before
seen on any device, allowing users to interact directly with games in three dimension-like
motion, through “touch, grab, trace, push and pull” finger motions. Also PS Vita features two
analog sticks which enable a wider range of game genres to be brought into the portable
experience, such as shooters, action games, and fighting games. Exciting and attractive new
titles*1 are scheduled to be released from SCE Worldwide Studios, including “GRAVITY
DAZE”, "Uncharted Golden Abyss", "Little Deviants", "Hot Shots Golf", "Reality Fighter",
"Hustle Kings", "ModNation Racers", "Wipeout 2048" and "Super Stardust Delta," as well as
from a broad range of third party game developers and publishers, which will deliver value
only possible on PS Vita.
Also, by having both Wi-Fi and 3G network connectivity, together with various
applications, PS Vita will enable infinite possibilities for users to “encounter,” “connect,”
“discover,” “share” and “play” with friends wherever they are.
On January 27, 2011, SCE announced the first PS Vita application, “near”, which will come pre-installed. It will let users discover what games PS Vita users in the vicinity are or were recently playing, as well as let users share their game information.
"near" also enables location-based gaming features such as "gifting," in which a user can access virtual game-related items that other users are sharing, through checking in at geographic locations that others have also visited. The virtual items can include content unlocked from games, such as character costumes, weapons, and treasures.
Sharing these items between users adds a unique dimension to the portable gaming experience on PS Vita while enhancing the social connectivity among the PS Vita community.
Additionally, PS Vita will come pre-installed with a newly developed application
called “Party.” “Party” is an innovative application for a portable entertainment system which
enables users to enjoy voice chat or text chat not only during online gaming, but also when
users are playing different games or using different applications such as internet browser.
Through “Party”, which offers a new form of social networking, and “near”, which enables
users to share their game information with other users anywhere, anytime, users can
dramatically expand the boundaries of interactive communication.
Also a tutorial application called “Welcome Park,” developed specifically to guide
every user about PS Vita’s brand new user interface such as the front touch display and the
multi-touch pad on the rear, will come pre-installed. By playing “Welcome Park”, users can
easily become accustomed to the three dimension-like finger motions used on PS Vita.
SCE will vigorously promote PS Vita towards the launch as the next generation portable
entertainment platform and work towards expanding the portable gaming market.*1 Some title names are tentative. Titles may differ by countries and regions.

They need to knock $100 off the price.
Why do you want 3G? You can't use it for online gaming. You can't use it for big downloads. 3G is pointless for the gaming device.
Nintendo lost.
You should quit taking me seriously.Nintendo lost. They didn't lose.
You and everyone else should quit overreacting.
If game economy can be effected by the EVE community, I expect Dust to be broke within a month. If there are ways for EVE players to make ISK through this new game then I'm sure it will flourish.
Yes, it is true that we are not making Sly 4: Thieves in Time. As you know, we are a one game at a time studio, and all our time has been spent on inFAMOUS 2. Sly 4 needed to come out soon, so it is in good hands with Sanzaru Games... www.sanzaru.com/wp/index.php
We are not abadoning the franchise. Yes, we have been in contact with Sanzaru giving as many pointers as they seek.
More info and discussion in the Sly 4: Thieves of Time thread.
It's not so much the price as it is a useless feature. I mean, you need AT&T.
at least with my 60 gig launch ps3, I got sick chrome styling!
btw, new Ridge Racer is confirmed for NGP. kinda glad I didn't get the 3DS version.
QuoteI won't be an early adopter, of course, since this is Sony we're talking
I will be an early adopter because the security will be at it's shittest in the early models !
With the 3DS the problem is they seem to be going with the "Well it worked for the DS so let's just do that again" - the problem is it is NOT working. The one thing i am fingers-crossed for : the 3DS is underpowered so i'm hoping for some hot 3D side on Metroid or some other hotness like that.
The F-Zero GX 3D dream looks dead - unless i want to play in shitty-frame-rate-o-vision
Apparently it's a very beautiful game that is also very dull and has a bad translation.
Fortune smiles upon thee, Bebpo, for thou hast found the joke
I cracked a huge woody when they announced the price. That was the most exciting thing I've ever witnessed.Someday, someone may show you a real, naked woman. It'll change your life.

For what it's worth, I would be fine with my 3Ds if it gets some good games. I didn't like the DS hardware either. Though it had functionality like a touch screen that the PSP lacked, it was still a crappy system I played because it happened to get a bunch of great games.
I'm not suddenly going to avoid buying third party 3DS games I'm interested in (all two of them) on the off chance that they'd be Vita games. But I hope others do. I'd much rather have Resident Evil Revelations and Mega Man Legends 3 on the Vita.
Also, as a whole, the Sony conference kinda sucked. Outside of the price they show games or tell us anything we didn't know months ago. The only 'new' game announcements were Modnation Racers and some loot game. They didn't even pull a Nintendo and say "These people will make games, probably" except for Ken Levine. More time should have been devoted to the Vita. Only big thing was the price announcement.
In a PlayStation Vita session for European and Australian press at E3 today, Michael Denny, Sony's Vice President of Sony Worldwide Studios Europe, confirmed that - to the best of his knowledge - Vita would be region free.
QuoteBTW DC, how much do you reckon they are losing on each Vita unit at 249/299? Any guess? $100? I'm guessing savings from cheaper component fabrication is going to be offset by price drops within those first three years, seems a bit of a long stretch otherwise
If they started with a price and worked backwards i'm guessing that they aren't losing THAT much. $30-40 per unit maybe ? The thing is that Nintendo did Sony a massive favour by massively overpricing the 3DS.
They are also probably covering some of the US cost by the JPN cost - 24980 yen = $372 (!) though currency rates will change of course.
I don't expect price drops - i expect "value packs" for the first 18 months and then they'll evalute where they are sales wise after that.
Yeah, even though my excite is at maximum now for the Vita, I still think it's going to have a rough go outside Japan. Inside Japan, though? Nintendo could wear five extra pairs of trousers and they're still going to bleed for days with what Sony is about to do to them. And Dragon shitty Quest. :-\
Until Pokemon, anyway. :-\
Q: Do you have any plans to introduce a video output cable? Will PS Vita have HDMI output?
A: No, PS Vita does not have a video output feature.
Also, just read:QuoteQ: Do you have any plans to introduce a video output cable? Will PS Vita have HDMI output?

Button size and analog placements are now concerning me.
@Sho Nuff: How comfortable was it to hold the system? do you see avoiding spreading your fingers over the touch pad as a big problem in the future? and finally: do you have giant hands?

it's a "we plan on making a revised hardware down the road to resell you suckers and we want to hold back one or two good features for it" problem
now that sony have tasted that fine teat that is revised hardware sales, they'll be snuggling in next to nintendo on that issue from here on out

Why can't the PSV remote play in reverse?
(i guess because sony want to sell the PS3 versions of PSV games, but... i mean technically... )
ROFL, Sony is going to gouge the fuck out of any accessory possible.
QuoteIn that sense, why can't PS3 play PSP games while it's connected via USB cable?
it can be done on a PC so i assume there's some reason?
