I think Atlus and SNK both understand that good online play will absolutely make or break this game. I'm still going to buy it just to support the game, but I won't be expecting GGPO quality. I hope it's at least playable on low ping. :-\
PS3 and Xbox 360 owners can look forward to the home version of The King of Fighters XIII on October 27. Billy Kane will appear as an original character for the home, making his return to the series for the first time since KOF2003.http://www.andriasang.com/e/blog/2011/06/29/this_weeks_famitsu/
The tutorial has an illustration of Nakoruru for some reason. I think that'll cause rumors to spread. Fast.

Do the handhelds have some sort of screenshot capability?
who plays kof?
who plays kof?
It's like soccer...popular all over the place but in the U.S. and Canada. :lol
XIII's game play is awesome awesome AWESOME. It's also generated more interest among American players than any recent KOF I can think of. You can check iplaywinner.com for some nice video.
But it's the online play that worries me. They SAY they are on top of it, but it's still hard to trust them after XII.
who plays kof?
who plays kof?
er...people with taste?
All this and it will still bomb.
It is futile.
I sure hope not. I think this might actually do okay, as Atlus' cred will help and SNK fans should have gotten used to taking it up the rear long ago anyway. If its a SNK product that fully delivers on modern expectations then its easily a GOTY contender, for fighting games at least. All this and it will still bomb.Probably. That $60 beta-test known as "The King Of Fighters XII" will forever tarnish the series' reputation.
It is futile.
So this got delayed until November 22 (in NA anyway). Now this will be releasing a week after UMvC3. SNK is doomed, again. :lol
Doesn't bother me though, now I'll be getting this instead of UMvC, and as a bonus I'll have a game to buy in November besides Metal Gear.
come onnnnn netcode!
I thought 98 UM had decent netcode, that sucks that this is confirmed to not have it :(
I feel like this game has no chance in the US. Too many good games came out this month.

'98 UM XBLA had AWFUL netcode!
There's no real confirmation on whether or not this is good or bad online yet.I feel like this game has no chance in the US. Too many good games came out this month.
Doesn't matter since it's a niche title. But the game getting pushed back to a week after UMvC3 was a bad idea.
Man, the soundtrack package is so nostalgic. I grew up on these games. Never liked them as much as Capcom games because of the stiffer animation and tougher combo chaining, but played them year after year after year. From Fatal Fury 1 to KoFXII. I remember when '99 came out on the Dreamcast and it totally changed up KoF with the experimental striker system and was a weird ass game like Tekken 4. Then they slowly evolved the striker system until getting rid of it completely. So many good matches, great characters, great backgrounds.
Wish my PS3 wasn't dead because I'm actually really looking forward to trying XIII.
ups delivered at 9:54 PM and left it in my carport :-\spoiler (click to show/hide)still gonna try it right quick before zzz[close]
According to ATLUS and developer SNK PLAYMORE, the patch will seek to make the game's network infrastructure more consistent for users, ensuring that the evaluation given connections is more accurate to the actual play experience. Moreover, the patch will introduce ranked host-side filtering, eliminating the frustration of match hosts unable to avoid matches with players with poor connections. In addition to a number of other improvements, the update will also address a number of rare glitches reported since the game's release. No release date currently exists for the update, but ATLUS reports that the developer is making every effort to release the patch as soon as possible.http://atlus.com/forum/showthread.php?t=9865
The patch is only for PS3 at the moment. The Xbox360 will be getting it as well, but there's no solid date as of yet.
Ranked Match Filtering: one of the most requested additions; players may now set conditions for their opponent's connection. When a player who doesn't meet the standby conditions tries to enter the Ranked match, a warning message will be displayed and the match cancelled.
Improved Filtering: filtering functionality in general is dramatically improved. Previously, certain connection data was insufficiently filtered and the player had a chance of connecting to opponents with poor connection quality. Now, more aggressive filtering should ensure that players are only matched with opponents who meet their filter settings.
Improved Connection Antenna: the computation behind the players' connection antenna, the meter indicating the quality of a player's connection, has been improved, resulting in a more accurate and consistent measurement.
Temporarily Saved Custom Match Settings: players may continue searching for opponents with the same settings as long as the player remains in the PLAYER MATCH/RANKED MATCH menu.
Character-specific Bug Fixes: NESTS-Style Kyo and Iori with the Power of Flames no longer become unresponsive under certain circumstances.
Additional refinements, fixes, and more!
