You guys have balls of steel. The first one was too hard for me to even consider.
I like my controllers. They cost money. I don't like games which make me want to throw them.

Game was too hard for me also although I appreciate being able to see people play and master some of that insanely hard shit.

Looks ok, but the little bit of gameplay looks the exact same as Trials HD but with coop (something I don't care about since I don't play online). Was hoping they'd change the visual design and change up the gameplay for a sequel. After 2 expansion packs, I'm kind of over the current style of Trials HD. It's great but I've had my fill.

Trials Evolution won't be another Xbox 360 exclusive to adopt Kinect, Eurogamer can reveal.
"No," confirmed dev co-founder Antti Ilvessuo, "the Kinect is such a different controller, and we have spent so much time polishing and tuning the controls in Trials to the Xbox controller, that to use Kinect would really mean a totally different game."
Trials Evolution was revealed at E3. Eurogamer found out this afternoon that the game will release "sometime between the end of summer and the end of the year". "We're aiming for 2011," he said.
But Ilvessuo confirmed that Trials Evolution won't be a Summer of Arcade game - the campaign Microsoft uses to typically launch the best XBLA games (Trials HD included). Nevertheless, Trials Evolution could go on to lead Microsoft's October Game Feast bonanza.
The biggest new features of Trials Evolution are proper multiplayer and a track sharing hub. Ilvessuo fleshed out the former, confirming four-player co-op on the same Xbox 360 machine.
"We have two to four player multiplayer, both locally and online," he said. "Locally means four controllers on the same Xbox, on the same screen. Online means just that - online and in real-time, against up to three other live players on the same track."
"Everyone drives on the same screen and the same track, but on their own driving line. We have a few good tricks to keep the competition fierce and balanced."
The track sharing hub Ilvessuo said is being "kept under wraps", although "it's fair to say sharing tracks is going to be a whole lot easier". "You won't have to rely on using the Friends list to share content, you can just download your creations from the new Track Central portion of the game.
"Everything is very easy to find and nicely organised." If he doesn't say so himself.
The level editor, another integral part of the Trials experience, has undergone a "huge evolution". There's an "incredible amount of changes, according to Ilvessuo, and improvements" that apparently make "all kinds of things possible you could never do in Trials HD".
"Some of the mini-games the guys are creating right now are like nothing you've ever seen before!" he exclaimed.
"We just showed it to one of the guys who worked on the editor with the last game, Trials HD, and his eyes just bugged out," said Ilvessuo. "I had to steer him back to his seat."
It's "a bit early to get into too much detail" about the editor, he added, but feedback from Trials HD has been "paid attention to" and RedLynx thinks fans will be "thrilled".
Other new Trials Evolution improvements include "open environments with different lighting" and "curved driving lines".
But there will be minimal changes made to the core Trials gameplay. "Really it's mostly just been fine-tuning the gameplay and physics," said Ilvessuo. "We don't want to break the base gameplay model - it's one that really works."
A tactic that more than a million people, who in turn are responsible for more than 2 million Trials HD-related downloads, will be very happy about.

-
Some reviewer had the audacity to ask if Trials would use Kinect? :rofl
And that's good news about the track sharing. Having to use the friends list in Trials HD was incredibly stupid.
-
A local 4 player game? This gen? Instabuy even if I never played Trials before.
-
Sounds hot, 4 player local :bow2 I put a bit of time into trials. The hard difficulty ruined my shit though and I didn't even bother with extreme. Kinda want to put more time in and see if I can get a little further, the difficulty curve was pretty wild in that game
-
I was able to get bronze and silver in all the hard events, but extreme was ridiculous. I think I finished one or two with terrible times and a crazy amount of retries then gave up.
-
Will buy the shit out of this hehe. Still haven't gone back for platinums on most of regular trials HD though. And haven't finished all the expansion levels without retries yet either. but whatever :drool

"All with 400 GamerScore"
About goddamned time. It's been 200 GamerScore since launch, with little 400 MSP games giving the same 200 GamerScore, and now we're seeing 1200 and 1600 MSP as normal launch prices, plus another 50 GamerScore if you bought the DLC. It has been ridiculously late in coming.

Loving the new levels, there's so much variety and crazy shit going on even with the C/D class bikes.
Some bits are still as annoying as ever though
-
The track creator and community features are brilliant. This game will always have amazing content.

My god this game rocks.
Two technical issues unfortunately that will need to be patched. Right now its sometimes telling me that I'm not online (even though I am) and that it can't upload my records which sucks. And the multiplayer is buggy and takes too long to find matches. The private match feature seems to work great though so I can play with friends on my list who have it which is great.
But yeah as a package this game is amazing. Hopefully they patch that stuff relatively soon.
-
I'm trying to recall whether the original was 60 or 30fps. Someone jog my memory.
-
Yeah the whole leaderboard system seems to be down right now. Not sure if its an unexpected demanded thing where too many copies are pinging the server because it was working earlier.
-
I have never played trials. Should I get the first game before this?
-
I have never played trials. Should I get the first game before this?
No. I mean its a good game and everything but the track creator and ability to get new levels makes it sort of obsolete.
I was somebody who respected Trials HD but felt the content was light for somebody who wasn't going to master the really difficult levels. This has more tracks than Trials HD and the track creator means content for all difficulty levels will be pumped out. Those two factors alone fix my biggest two problems with Trials HD. I can now enjoy the game without having to be a world class player.

If it's cheap, yeah. But you're not missing anything by jumping into this one.

Leaderboards were fine last night when I played. Guessing it's just demand since North America would be hammering it.

I am like you then. I was afraid I'd pull my hair out on the first one and stop playing. If this is more news friendly I will skip the original

Yeah I'm not a hardcore dude. There are easy ,beginner, medium, hard, and extreme tracks. The first three levels are fine for me. I'll try some of the easier hard ones. But I'll never bother with the extreme ones. I just don't have the patience. But there are more now and like I said, the Track Creator will be the difference maker. It's a robust thing. There will absolutely be great content created for it at all levels. The hiccups about the leaderboards and the multiplayer are what are holding it back right now.
-
Watched quick look. Will buy
-
So fucking enjoyable for me. The matchmaking is broken but I just played private match which works with a couple of friends and we raced a lot of the non-extreme tracks. Some of them are just so much fun. And Gigatrack. Holy shit. The length of that one is some cruel joke. You can easily take the created tracks into private matches with friends.
This will easily be one of the goty contenders for me. After about 8:30 the leaderboards were up for the rest of the evening.

This game fuckin' rules. :bow

fucking truth.
I like SSX but that game is hampered by them adding in all that unnecessary and frustrating shit. This is the way you make a sequel. You take everything that rocked about the original and just add in a lot more of it.
-
Definitely. There's a beginner set of courses, an easy set, two medium sets, a number of circus and tournament events that are on the relatively easy side, plus endless user generated content.
-
Is there more stuff on the easy/medium side? I loved the first one but I don't have fucking time to spend on the hard tracks.
Absolutely.
-
Just tried a created track called Red Boxes. Awesome track.
-
Gigatrack is ridiculous. I keep accidentally pressing BACK in a tantrum about 6 or 7 minutes in. :-\
-
You guys are really making me want this. It's gonna have to wait til Wednesday. :(

Microsoft Studios is proud to announce that after the first 24 hours of sales, Trials Evolution has set a record for the highest grossing day-one sales in Xbox LIVE Arcade history!

My favorite part of trials is getting stuck on a particular bit on a course at the very end.
First off I refuse to advance so I'm stuck on it for like 30 minutes instead of just going on the next one and coming back later. Something about that doesn't sit right.
So at first the whole track seems like it has a bunch of difficult bits but you do it so much you master it and can play it with your eyes closed. All except that one fucking piece near the very end.
Then I admit defeat and decide to watch a replay above me on the leaderboard to see how its supposed to be done.
Watch the replay and yell fuck you bitch that was complete luck. You didn't mean to do that and its impossible to replicate.
:maf :lol
-
Download and try Epic Journey. Shit is mind melting. It's a trials course as is the one I mentioned earlier Red Boxes

Sounds exactly how I do it :(

Bought this yesterday. Finns deliver :drool
Played up to and including Gigatrack now so unlocked the proper trials bike. Tracks are nice but easy so far, a bit annoyed by the tearing here and there and the darker tracks are really really dark on my TV. and terribad music which I have muted. other than that, game rox :punch :rock :punch
-
It's awesome the way a bunch of bearded finns, made an awesome first game, and then basically went and took their success by letting loose with MASSIVELY stoned stuff to play.
God, that sounds sarcastic, but it's really not.
-
Hehe. I didn't play their first games, I've only played the Trials on Xdude
-
Man some of the created tracks are so much fun. Every night me and couple of friends go on and download tracks and just race them in multiplayer mode. Some are crap. Some are goofy. Some are crazy. And occasionally some are great. Such fun stuff. Every game needs this type of creator.
-
Gigatrack is fucking awesome. One guy on my friends list has a time of 21minutes for it :lol
-
just had my first controller toss
-
Gigatrack is fucking awesome. One guy on my friends list has a time of 21minutes for it :lol
Thought it was terrible. Shows off the new open engine, sure, but ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
-
I thought it was terrible about 50% through, but then it kept going and I thought it was awesome again.
-
ok. done with the first Hard section, unlocked the Extreme tracks and the Platinum medals :drool
also tried the Unyielding II achievement. yeah, probably going to skip getting that one :lol
-
My technique on the hard/extreme tracks suuuuuucks. How am I supposed to clear that barrel up the hill in Down in the Dumps? Or jump through that pane of glass on the track after it?
-
extreme tracks are just too much for me. instead i've gotten all golds through medium.
humblebrag?
-
Gold is just 0 faults for the track isn't it?
TSC TSC that's the only way to play Trials. 0-fault or no go!
-

no, a bunch of the medium tracks allow 1 fault. you also need to get a certain time. one time i had a perfect run but it was too slow by .2 seconds. :(
-
Ah, ok. Thought it was only the Platinum medals that were time limited
-
Some of the gold time limits are crazy. You can't make 1 mistake and get the gold time
-
OK, fuck these Extreme tracks. I'll beat all of Cajole's times on the Medium and Hard courses and then I'll be satisfied with this game.
-
My technique on the hard/extreme tracks suuuuuucks. How am I supposed to clear that barrel up the hill in Down in the Dumps? Or jump through that pane of glass on the track after it?
For the pipe on the hill in Down in the Dumps, you need to get good traction on the rear wheel while leaning forward (feather the throttle, don't max it), then let the left stick go to neutral (you're still in the forward lean posture) before hitting the pipe so you go into a wheelie. the rear wheel should hit the pipe first. when the rear wheel hits, push forward again so you get on top of the pipe, then let the stick go to neutral again so your rear wheel touches down so you can get off the pipe.
For the glass window in the warehouse, you need to jump from the platform below the glass, it'll be pretty much impossible to go directly from the high platform. if you're not going for platinum, you can drop down to the lower platform first, back up to the beginning of the angled platform while leaning forward, then floor it and you should go through.
-
I started to figure it out a bit last night. I think maybe I wasn't considering the driver's position on the bike when I was trying to hop up onto the barrel. Throwing the controller didn't really help, either.

what kind of sick fuck goes for platinum
-
I'll definitely try to get as many platinums as I can. I haven't gone back to the earlier tracks yet since I unlocked Platinum, but I'm trying for it directly for the Death Valley tracks I'm doing now :drool
-
I will tiger knee my television off its stand long before get close to even getting a gold on any of those tracks.
-
Goddamn this game makes my hands cramp up after a while. SO TENSE
But omg, getting a flow going and getting platinums on the levels is the most rewarding gaming today! Any boritos still playing, or did y'all quit after Gigatrack? :(
-
.
-
I need to add you on XBL.

I still play all the time but mostly with friends in private matches as we download tracks. And yeah I agree. My hands cramp up and kill me especially when somebody in the party wants to torture everybody with an extreme track.
I have a hard time believing any game will top it this year for me. Maybe Diablo 3.

I need to add you on XBL.
DO IT, same username :hyper

I added you too, but only cuz yr hot.

I went back and finally finished all the extreme tracks on Trials HD. woooo

Wow. Trials is the only reason I keep my 360 around.
-
Glad it's coming to the PC. I've been waiting for this to be a deal of the week, but I either missed it or it never happened. Guess I'll just get it on PC now.
-
So the PC version came out a few days ago. The leaderboards have been down for nearly two days and it runs like poop on some tracks.
Granted, it's still in "beta", but it's as much of a beta as Dota 2. The whole game is there, sans DLC. I hope Ubi Shanghai and Redlynx fix the problems, because such a great game does not deserve a shoddy port.
-
This thread reminds me how I played this for about 4 days straight and dropped it cold.
