Title: Game of the year 2011 Saint Seiya Senki!

Namco Bandai is readying a PlayStation 3 conversion of the popular Saint Seiya manga and anime. Revealed in a two page spread in this month's issue of V Jump, the PS3 game is titled "Saint Seiya Senki" (which could perhaps be translated as Saint Seiya Chronicle).

Jump describes the adaptation's genre as "cinematic melee action." The various Saints will be facing off against countless enemies. Characters confirmed or the game include Cygnus Hyoga, Dragon Shiryu, Andromeda Shun, Pegasus Seiya and Phoenix Ikki.

While there are no gameplay specifics yet, Jump does mention that as you fight, you'll see messages from your fellow saints, shown at the bottom of the screen.

A release is set for this Fall.

What's the deal with this series? Was it popular in Europe or something?

There are -so- many toys associated with this series available, and I'd never heard of it until just a couple years ago. I guess I slept through this era of anime?

It was big everywhere except the states, you guys were too busy with your shitty american cartoons while latin america and europe was dinning on quality, manly animes.

Ah, thanks.

Yeah, it's weird that America had an "anime boom," but in Europe, there were actually many more Japanese animated series imported, much earlier than in the USA. I hear you guys had Doraemon and Anpanman and Sazae-san.
