Worst console ever. :lol

that's depressing

i don't get it ???

saved data cannot be reset in RE:M

You can't erase save data. Remember this is a cart, so all the save data is on the cart along with the game.
It's to deter anyone from buying the game used. Because if you buy it used and find all the content already unlocked, you're out of luck.
Also, this isn't a 3DS only thing. I'm sure Capcom and other companies will try it with Vita. But at least Vita has digital versions of all the games.

New games often end up dropping to absurdly low prices anyway. Who cares, or rather when (if) it gets to the point, years from now, when you can't find a new copy of RE The Mercenaries 3D new anyway...uh...is anyone even going to want to play this 5-10 years from now?
Getting this on Tuesday though. Looking forward to a Resident Evil game where you can *gasp* move AND shoot. :o
-
Yeah, this isn't a Nintendo or 3ds "thing". Just Capcom playing the role of publisher blaming used games for their problems. Hooray for the disc based systems.

wait for revelations

Oh boy, so I can play everything from the beginning instead of slogging through to unlock all the stages and weapons? What's so bad about that? Not like it's a story-based game.
-
$30 at KMart next week, if you feel like waiting.
-
lol at people paying for this.
-
Do flash carts work with the 3DS yet?
-
lol at people paying for this.
I played the shit out of RE5 Mercenaries...all over this.
-
I'll get the iPhone version for 10% of the price.
-
Sorry I haven't answered the posts quoting me, I was busy playing the free version of this on RE4.
-
lol at people paying for this.

Did you steal your breakfast today yet?

A Capcom iPhone port?
Have fun, buddy. :lol
Never said I would enjoy it :smug

Alot of the videos I see for this are kneeshot>meleekill x infinity. I played re4 mercs recently and this isn't the case. Did they ruin the game with overpowered qtes?
-
If you want teh high sc0re yes, that is essentially it. Was like that in RE5 Mercs, was the same in RE4 Mercs
-
In re4 the melee kills were limited to Krauser and Hunk (and krausers arrows were osok usually so it didn't matter too much). Leon and Ada's put em in a vulnerable position but you had to work to chain stuff effectively :/. Haven't used Wesker too much yet, dunno about him.
-
Wow, this game is really getting trashed by a lot of people, and it's kind of a head-scratcher-- it's RE5's Mercenaries mode, with some new characters, items/perks, and improved controls (strafing and first-person view), plus "new" boss characters. I got exactly what I expected out of it. The visuals are overall pretty good and the sound is perfectly fine. It sounds like Resident Evil to me.
The save file-wiping issue is stupid, but it's not a game-breaker. This game is made to be replayed over and over again. Wiping a save would do nothing but force the player to have to unlock the levels and characters/perks all over again. Why would anyone want to do that? :lol
What is really stupid is the lack of online leaderboards. You'd think an arcade-style game that's all about high-scoring would have this feature available. This seems to be a 3DS network issue, however, because none of the 3DS titles currently out have leaderboards. The game does have achievements in the form of unlockable trophies, though.

Unlocking characters in fighting games :yuck

it's like every reason I've had for wanting a 3ds is slowly going the way of the dodo. I'm still interested, but jeez. 3ds can't catch a break.
-
Yeah. I think Mercenaries is viable as a stand-alone product, but Capcom sure isn't giving it a good coming out party here.
This would have made for a better XBLA/PSN game, for $10-$15. Or even as an additional RE5 content pack.

It has a few solid games already, but nothing "system-seller" worthy, IMO. I just got mine for portable online SSF4, DOA, and both RE titles. I play the shit out of SSF4 and DOA so I don't regret my purchase, but I can also easily see myself ditching this thing once the Vita hits.
Online play in 3DS games can be really good over wireless 802.11n connections, but it's just brought down by the lack of in-game communication, messaging, INVITES, and leaderboards. If the Vita has all this stuff, Nintendo is dead in the water in my book.
That all said, Mercenaries on the go is still a blast to play -and it works well in portable form- and it plays and looks great. If you want to see a shitty version of The Mercenaries, try the iOS version. :yuck

I thought The Club was Mercenaries as its own game. That's the treatment I expected from Mercenaries 3DS. A bunch of modes centered around the concept and a structure that supports it. At least from what I can tell, Mercenaries 3DS is that extra mode from RE4/5 with perks, right down to the same maps and all.
It's not bad, but I'm not eager to drop $40 on it. I can see how if the portability is a huge plus, or you didn't play the last two games, this can be more alluring. I'm sitting here thinking that if I wanted to play a vanilla Mercenaries game, I have like three copies of RE4 and RE5.
-
I can't believe I'm being that fan, but wait for revelations!
:lol
-
oh yeah, how is that demo? apparently the press versions didn't have it
-
EB Games Australia has removed all mentions of this game from their website. Looks like we have a recall :lol

Pretty much, yeah- although the maps are actually smaller in size, which is fine for a portable version. The improved game play and perks make this a better version. Plus you have more enemy types and actual boss characters. I'm pretty sure the first boss battle I played also took place on a new map as well.

LOL, me too. And I have The Mercenaries Reunion DLC for RE5. Since the unlockable character skins might as well be additional characters (they have slightly different stats and their own loadout configurations), what I don't get is why Capcom just didn't remove these alts and add in more characters in their places...even if they were just character skins. So you could have Chris > Leon, Jill > Ada, etc.

IIRC it's the first playable demo that was shown last year, so the press has already played it. I only tried it for a minute...basically uses the same control scheme as Mercenaries 3D (so first-person aiming and strafing are available), but has better visuals (lighting) and character model detail. Will play the whole thing today. It's supposed to be really, really short.

Lack of leaderboards ain't really a shortcoming of the 3ds. Random ass wii and ds games supported them, so its entirely up to the developer to implement.
