Netflix changes its plan today to separating physical and digital services. If you want streaming, it's its own fee of $8.
someone on gaf made a convenient list:
$7.99 - Streaming
$7.99 - 1 Disc
$9.99 - 1 Disc Blu Ray
$11.99 - 2 Disc
$14.99 - 2 Disc Blu Ray
$15.98 - Streaming, 1 Disc
$17.98 - Streaming, 1 Disc Blu Ray
$19.98 - Streaming, 2 Disc
$22.98 - Streaming, 2 Disc Blu Ray
$29.98 - Streaming, 4 Disc
$34.98 - Streaming, 4 Disc Blu Ray
So, at least for my plan, it's from $12 to $18 monthly. Not a lot but I've had the same movie out for a few months now and it makes me realize I don't really watch dvd/blu-ray anymore. I can save that $10 every month and buy four copies of Garshasp.
-
I'm in exactly the same boat as you. Guess I'll have to ditch the disc. :(
Wish you got grandfathered in, but I guess everyone already has Netflix at this point.
-
i've been doing streaming + 2 discs (bluray) for 15 bucks a month and don't get discs anymore so this is a great thing
i'm saving 6 bucks! thanks netflix!
-
I hardly ever watch anything streaming, so I go from $15 a month to $12.
-
I really don't watch much streaming anymore. I think I'm just going to stick with Blockbuster and just get discs then.
-
$15.98 - Streaming, 1 Disc
what the fuck
-
competition :smug
it's only going to get worst
-
This is some bullshit.
-
I don't like it, but I'll probably stick with the plan I have until something else comes along. I still get discs on a regular basis and streaming still serves as a cheap alternative to cable.

Competition is always good for consumers, I read it on GAF.
-
Good, I hate people who use their Xbox for Netflix.
-
Guess I need to find those discs and return them.
-
Changed my plan to streaming + 1 disc. No biggie, I'm just worried about their streaming selection in the future.
-
Man, there are some people genuinely freaking out over this. :lol
Eh. For me, I never cared for the streaming selection much. Not enough to pay extra for it. I've always had a blockbuster and Netflix sub so now I can just safely go blockbuster only. I assumed it would happen at some point. Those cheap contracts are running out and the streaming is truly a service all on its own.

Yeah, I dunno. Cancelling your account because you don't want to pay $8 a month for unlimited instant movies at your fingertips, eh, you must not care for movies that much in the first place if that's not worth the price of 50 chicken nuggets.
-
I still have like 80 fucking movies in my instant queue and probably as many in my streaming queue. It's less than the cost of one Transformers ticket per month, and like 80 billion people just blew money on that.
Yep.
-
they're doing nothing wrong with the streaming service and mo money = mo content licenses = mo movies. that's being optimistic and not considering more expensive licenses.
The value of steaming plus dvd/blu-ray is what sucks now. Depends on how much you use it; at $6-8 when, at best, I'd get maybe three or four blu-rays a month, it isn't worth it. Maybe if Netflix got movies day and date, but they don't. It's really easy to find better alternatives to that serivce.
it was practically a steal before, though. $8 for streaming only, $10 for streaming + DVD, $12 for streaming + blu-ray.

It's still incredibly cheap compared to cable. Not directed at you Robo, but SMH all you dirty poors.
-
it should be higher. i was always baffled by their pricing given the lack of any competition and how many studios they're in bed with. were still getting away with robbery at those prices if you ask me but it was time for them to differentiate between the two services they offer. it is a substitute to cable after all and far superior.
filthy poors :yuck

shit sucks
-
They need a better instant streaming selection. Most of the stuff I like is pretty obscure and is disc only.
-
netflix's streaming services aren't going to survive the next round of contracts, even at these prices, i fear.
It really sucks to value your opinions, sometimes.
Anyway, Netflix prices were the only thing in life that I felt was too good to be true but totally was true. I'm fine with this.
