Title: Living on tight budget.
Post by: Cerveza mas fina on July 14, 2011, 08:55:26 AM
100$ / 100 euro. 2 weeks till pay day.

How can I survive? I should add that this is one of the most expensive countries in the world for food. 40% above EU average.

I put money away, and I don't want to dip into it.

a 40% increase on ramen noodles is still cheap as fuck.  Easy man.  Noodles, canned sauce, hot dogs, ground beef, chicken thighs or drumsticks (I can get 20 drumsticks for 4 bucks here, that's 5 meals).  You can make it last brochacho.

Also try and avoid processed food. You can make a soup or curry, freeze the unused portion in individual servings, and then microwave the individual servings as needed. Same with rice: make a pot, then separate into single serving "balls," freeze them.

Take $20, buy a couple of loaves of bread and sandwich meats. That leave $80 for beer which should just work out if you stay out of the pubs. Enjoy some cheap beers.

There's still plenty of meat on that bone! Now, you take this home, throw it in a pot, add some broth, a potato. Baby, you've got a stew going.

:rofl :rofl :rofl

I said that to my wife last night.  We chopped up some drumstick meat and made chicken and bacon sandwiches (:drool) and before I threw them away I told her "Let's get some broth, add a potato, throw it in a pot and baby, we've got a stew going."

Besides not buying shit you don't need? Don't eat out at all, and make all your food yourself. So delicious and so cheap. :drool

If you wanna get crazy, you can swing by my house on Saturday when I get the good paper with the coupons and we can add to our stockpiles. Last week, I bought my husband and I each a soda and a candy bar, two sticks of deodorant, and a few other random things for 95 cents. :pimp I only bought the candy and sodas because the store actually owed me money from coupons and wouldn't give me cash back, and those were the only things close to the checkout lane.

 :lol

We have some cheap pasta that we bought months ago that I might make.  We haven't been grocery shopping in like 2 weeks and we're finally down to looking at frozen/canned shit that we never used.  I'm just so fucking lazy.  You're supposed to send me encouraging texts to make me do something with my life!
Title: Re: Living on tight budget.
Post by: lennedsay on July 14, 2011, 10:13:44 PM
I'm so busy with my new job! :( And the office is full of quiet-walkers and sneaker-uppers. As soon as I look at my phone or try to text, I have somebody behind me asking a question or just creepin in general. I'm going to put a make-shift door on my damn cube.

While you're cooking those cheap noodles, simmer some butter, olive oil and herbs/seasonings. What kind of frozen and canned food do you have? Fuck it, it doesn't matter, just heat it up. Then mix all this deliciousness together. BAM! Pasta.

@Gundam: I bought a off date beer last night from the liqour store  :'( You're right, not drinking is gonna be the biggest saver.

@Lennesday: I'm gonna look for coupons too now. Def not eating out anymore this month, which I normally do a few times a week.

No, no. Milan, Poland. It's one of those towns named after other towns, like "Athens, Georgia," "Paris, Texas," and "Hell, Michigan."
