Hmm, the only one I don't own is Crayon Physics.  Guess I'll pay a dollar or two for that.

When I read the title, I though Jonathan Blow's new game had leaked onto the internet.

The VVVVVV version in this has got tons of new levels and is supposedly more than twice as long as the original version. Has new music by Souleye as well. :arr

I always buy these even though I own most of the games (or have no interest in the rest, or plain dislike some of them like And Yet it Moves).

at least this time I didn't own vvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvv but I'm waiting for STEAM to update to the 2.0 version before I play.  supposedly the old version had flash saving or something? Machinarium had that and clearing my cache wiped the save game and I haven't gone back since.

I'm about to buy. How do you latch up the games to Steam? Or is it pretty simple?

edit: no worries figured it out.

As someone who virtually NEVER games on a PC (well Mac in this case) I'm very impressed with all this functionality shit. Radical

edit 2: VVVVVV is pretty awesome

yeah And Yet it Moves is not so good. The music is really scary, and the game is obviously from the dark depths of Europe.

So the version of VVVVVV on Steam doesnt have the extra content? Ive been playing it on Steam. Should I direct download the game from my bundle URL instead?

VVVVVV auto updated to version 2.0 last night on steam, so it's up to date.

there is supposed to be another update later on to support steam achievements and cloud saving

how do you get hats? Can some be earned by completing challenges? Or do you have to pay for all of them?

If I'm gonna try TF2 I'm gonna need hats

Sorry but you need to upgrade to premium to get hats

Oh well, I might give it a go anyhow.

edit: it says you need to buy something (anything) to get a premuim acct. I might just choose an awesome 5 dollar hat

Yeah that's pretty sweet huh, I'll be pretty surprised if TF2 runs well on ur mac, maybe it will. OSX version isn't as optimised though.

Is it cool with Steam if I just transfer the TF2 binaries to his mac so we don't have to dl again? Shit's like 10+ gigs, $1.50 per GB here  :fbm

yeah I'd be interested to see how well the game runs on my Mac. Its 10 gigs?! May have to fuck it then!

:piss New Zealand capped internet :piss2

TF2 is mainly CPU intensive, I think you'll be ok. Pretty sure you can just move the files around too, you might need to do a consistency check beforehand.

Didn't realise NZ internets were so bad :(

yeah theres limits on how much bandwith you can use a month  :(

I was at a friends place playing M:TG last week and I was like "hey lets stream some tunes off Grooveshark", and he was like "sorry weve got a 5gig data cap". Fucking luddites

:lol I get 3gb a month on my phone plan. That's terrible.

also :rofl @ your avatar - gfs brother has like a dozen bottles of blue Alize at his place.

Post by: naff on July 29, 2011, 01:55:18 AM
We still use like 120+ gigs per month and have a 10 Mbit connection so we pay a little more than other services but we also have the most stable and fast connection in NZ. God damn I can't wait till we get uncapped internet though. Then I will truely make the migration to PC gaming

Internode give me 150gb a month plus unmetered Steam downloads from local servers. It's truly wonderful :bow2

[TF2 Aspie] If you do spend moneys on TF2, buy some keys ($2.50 each, no clue how much they are in NZ though) and use www.tf2tp.com to trade your way up to some hats you really want [/TF2 Aspie]

Also, www.tf2items.com (that's the one I use).  Keys can be a good purchase, given you have a crate that doesn't suck.

And never craft.  You destroy like 10 things to get one thing, when you can just trade one for one on one of those sites.  Crafting makes me hurt.

(And add me on Steam)

if you bought this, they've been adding new games and packages.

Just now Atom Zombie Smasher was included.  Earlier, Steel Storm: Burning Retribution was added.  If you spent more than the average price, you got the second Humble Indie Bundle free.  A limited time Minecraft code.

humble bundle 2 had Braid, Machinarium, Osmos, Revenge of the Titans, and Cortex Command.  So that's like 12 games for $6.

Atom Zombie Smasher really? Wow, really glad I bought in now. I just wanted the Linux versions again.

Love Blendo Games, I voted Gravity Bone as GOTY somewhere once.

If you want you can dig up the email they sent with the url for you downloads and click 'like what we're doing here?' and pay the difference to what you originally paid and get the extra games

Playing VVVVVV a lot since I bought this earlier. 2 hours 40 mins in, nearly revealed all the map and beat that veni vidi vici part. Cakewalk compared to SMBs IWBTG levels. 2 more duders to save, loving this game

Eh... are any of the games in the 2nd bundle besides Machinarium really worth playing? I don't care for Braid.

paid $6. I'm poorer than the mouths I'm feeding here, shut up. Had Machinarium from before too, really only VVVVVV that made me jump. I suppose finally getting to play Braid should be worthwhile too.

Atom Zombie Smasher is awesome. It's simple, but deceptively deep. Strategy is key, especially later on when the difficulty just becomes totally brutal.

If you don't have Machinarium then definitely. I had Braid and Machinarium already, but I'm enjoying Osmos and Revenge of the Titans fwiw, haven't tried cortex command yet.

If anyone doesn't want to donate for whatever reason and is fine with Desura (which is actually pretty useful for installing mods for Source) I can send along my HIB #2 key for that.

I gave a tenner and gave most of it to the hipster devs and a couple bux to the charities. Lovin these games too, been sick in bed with a gnarly cold so it's been good having a bunch of games to play. And Yet It Moves is the only one I've played from the packs that I thought was lame

I got stuck on the first level with bats. A room with spikes and water drops, and seemingly no way through. I didn't persevere for long though, I'll play it some more later
Title: Re: Time to steal more games from starving hipsters.
Post by: benjipwns on August 08, 2011, 01:47:21 AM
I played that one for the achievement during the summer sale which was even worse because you had to make the bats follow you through the level.

Spoiled solution incase somebody minds:
spoiler (click to show/hide)
You manipulate the water droplets to fall onto the roots or plants or whatever and they sprout and break the "floor" so you can get through.
[close]

If you've got a 360 pad assign the level manipulation stuff to the face buttons and the game becomes infinitely easier.
