Such a fucking awesome game, a true classic still.
Were the games past it anygood? I sorta lost interest in the arcade scene after Mortal Kombat 3.
-
Samuari Shodown 2 was always my favorite Arcade fighter. I think, mostly because it was easy to learn and there were never any lines waiting to play it.
Tam Tam FTW
-
I still play Street Fighter 2 quite a bit. Mame on Dreamcast for the win.
The Fatal Fury games are good too.
-
You mean like, the first Street Fighter II?
-
SFII is shit these days, I think.
Street Fighter Alpha 3 is the best Street Fighter.
-
Awesome, Chris. I agree.
-
SFII's mechanics are crap, nothing about the game is interesting anymore. Im sure ill lose precious gamer cred points by saying poo poo on SFII, but jesus christ let it live in nostalgia.
-
The only interesting thing about SF2 is the giant Palm tree in Sagat's stage.
By which I mean, of course, that Hyper Fighting is still the best SF2 game, and Third Strike is the best Street Fighter of all time.
-
Well I never played a Street Fighter after 2...they seemed to get too complicated and took on the anime style hardcore.
Guile rocks though :jam

Play Third Strike. Not so much anime crap and amazing gameplay. The depth makes it rewarding but it's actually a very simple system, the depth comes out of the tightness of the execution.

SF: Turbo was the raddest.
Time to break out the SNES and the Fire Stick!
-
For the Christmas break I played a bunch of SF2 with my oldest brother. He used to be so good he'd go to the arcades that existed back then and play with one quarter and beat a ton of people.
It was so funny he'd be on the left as first player, and there would be a line of around 10 people waiting to play against him......
WELL I BEAT HIS BITCH ASS 10-9 ON CHRISTMAS DAY BABY!!!
fucking SNES game is more competitive and more fun than any of the fighting games these days.

Hyper Fighting shits all over turbo. Get on XBLA instead. I'll be on later, shoot me a friend request, my tag is The Fatghost.

:(
Get MAME, the SF2 CE and SF2 Hyper Fighting ROM and a PS2-USB adapter then...anything but the shitty SNES Turbo >_<
-
I don't understand how the animu in SF could bother you. I mean it's a fighting game man. Who cares?

Is it really so bad? I've played the arcade games tons, the arcade ROMs on my PC, and I don't see what's so bad about the SNES version besides some missing frames of animation and some different backgrounds.
-
It's just so ugly and sounds so awful. :(
Slap in the face considering how well the arcade version still holds up.
-

Ive noticed that some people are quite fussy about things. I saw a guy go all shitty the other day because his burger had onion in it. WTF
-
the non anime sf looks pretty shit tho.

How hard is it to understand that I don't like anime? It's a fighting game, but I don't like the style in which it's presented - stop being so fucking ignorant all the time.
-
I'm not being ignorant though. I don't particularly care for the bald space marines look but Gears has my interest.
-
I like how Himuros up in Christopher's face over his anime rant when NOT SO LONG AGO Himuro went on rant about Anime in TotA lol
-
Well animu in SF is nothing compared to animu in ToTA amigo. ToTA actually has a "story", one that is obnoxious as fuck too.
-
haha come on, the story is totally tongue in cheek half the time.
-
Still annoying.

Whatchu talkin bout Willis?
SF2's art is awesome. SF3's art is awesome. Non-anime styled SF is awesome.
-
Play:
SF2 Turbo. Then move onto Super Street Fighter II Turbo.
As for other games, if you want to stick with a degree of simplicity, basically just stick with anything from 1995 or lower.
Street Fighter III is also surprisingly "old school friendly" when it comes to getting into the game for the first time.
-
The later games are much better, and that's probably the best good 2d fighting game in terms of not having bad anime.
-
Sonic boom!
Man they totally gayed up the announcer when they made Super Street Fighter II
