How's the narrator?

P-A's Tycho had nothing but nice things to say about it, but I think it would grate on me pretty quickly.

It didn't bother me, but I could see it bothering others. It was reasonably interesting.

The story was not a mindblower though, or really worth discussing.

I liked the narrator and style of the game, but I decided to pass for now. Too much to play, too little time

Narrator doesnt fit much, and I dont see the value in "choosing" weapons when they all feel the same, so I just stick with the Bow and Katana

Yea, i think the weapons are very different. I used fang repeater and pike

been playing some of this. gameplay wise it's pretty solid. i like that you can cancel out of pretty much everything. it makes the combat feel responsive and fast paced. the different weapons are unique enough and levels are designed in a way where you have to swap out weapons because certain combinations are simply not useful.

i really like the way the story is told. the narrator has a very charismatic voice that has, dare i say, attitude. however the actual story that is being told is just kinda weird. it's trying super hard to be mysterious but i find it just a little silly.

You probably will have figured out the mystery within 10 minutes of playing. It acts like it's making a big reveal but it's more of a duh

Bought this and played for about 45 minutes so far.

Seems cool. Art style is great. Combat is fun. Music is good. I don't know if I quite think its as great as the reviews make out but it seems solid and enjoyable. Reminds me of an action rpg version of something like Diablo or Torchlight where the combat is mechanic based rather than just holding down a mouse button.

I find it annoying that I keep falling off the world even though there doesn't seem to be much of a penalty for it. And the announcer neither really annoys me nor do I find him brilliant and amazing so far which a lot of reviewers seemed to harp on.

About two hours in. I don't know... I guess I feel cynical or something because while I think its good, the way certain people were raving about it on the podcasts you would think this is one amazing GOTY kind of title. It's not that. It's just a good title. And the falling off the world shit is pissing me off.

Beat it this evening. I enjoyed the game. Even considering doing a new game plus run which I almost never bother with mainly because I'd like to try some of the other weapons.

I repeat though, that the narrator and the story are two of the most over-rated and over-praised aspects I've seen in any modern game.

How long is the game?

I also had no idea people were falling in love with the narrator. Is he the same guy voicing the trailer? if so I thought he was out of place, more suitable for a Dudebro game.

About 4 or 5 hours. It's longer if you try to get first place in the proving ground  arenas which I didn't.

Just to be clear I don't have any issue with the narrator. I think he's fine. I just don't think its amazing like all the podcasts and reviews are talking about. It's nothing to masturbate over.

The pack is free to download on Steam, but will Xbox 360 patrons will have to open their wallets.

"The Stranger's Dream DLC will be available for 80 Microsoft Points ($1) on XBLA, which we can't make free due to Microsoft policy, so it's about as close as we could get. Though, since you'll be getting at good chunk of new content, we think you'll be satisfied with your purchase," explained Kasavin.

Been playing this. Rather like it. I think that they put in a narrator that reacts to what you do and manage to not have him repeat himself is pretty nice. I also like how the narrator plays against the idea that all of gaming is told through an immediate present.

I like most of the weapons and the weapon stages. The upgraded carbine is pretty badass. I appreciate that they didn't so some stupid shit where you would have to spend points to switch between level up options for weapons. There's room to add like special dungeon challenges for completing a dungeon with only melee weapons or only ranged with the weapon setup.

Reserving final judgement for when I beat it.

Bastion doesn't at the moment, but it will in a future update. It's an experimental API right now.
