Gorgeous little real time rpg/rts title. You control a party of 4, which you can choose yourself from different classes (warrior, bard etc.). The you battle it out with waves of enemies. There are different kinds of enemies and new ones pop out all the time, each has their own characteristic and soon you'll be figuring out who to attack first and how and how to protect your healers etc. You gain money and loot after each battle and you can upgrade your crew with new skills every few levels too.

Highly polished and recommended by me.

I don't really know how to describe this one. A racing/platformer hybrid? Your goal is to make it to the end of the track with some crazy jumps and turns. You will have to use a few tries at least on each stage and there are leaderboards to compete with other folks. A game like this relies on good controls and fortunately these are up to the task at hand. While not amazing, the graphics and music are pretty cool too.

Someone gimme tips on Pocket Academy. Learning curve seems deeper than that of Game Dev story

There's Galardia Quest, a blatant DQ clone, that's OK. My favorite is still Game Dev Story though.

Necrobump. I got a N7 for my birthday and I've been sifting through the mess that is Google Play. The marketplace is generally a disaster, with scammy, naggy, unfinished, shallow, amateurish, and/or just plain bad games everywhere. But here are a few good things I've found so far:

Pixel Dungeon - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.watabou.pixeldungeon

Roguelike with polished animations and decent UI. I like vanilla Rogue, but this takes some neat things from Brogue like weapon stat minimums. WIP, but it's in good, playable shape already.

Dungelot - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rws.dungelotFree

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W-Y0lGu2-Pc

Another roguelike-ish-thing, only heavily abstracted and translated into mobile/casual terms. You tap on squares in the dungeon to reveal them, turn by turn, and fight monsters and get treasure. It's addictive, but not too deep. Fun, though! I guess this is like Desktop Dungeons, but I haven't played that.

Ghost Puzzle - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.heigames.ghostpuzzlelite

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J6H_yCIUqa8

I found this when I was searching for a Puyo Puyo clone. It's somewhere between that and Puzzle Fighter. The lite version has a puzzle mode with a number of stages. I guess the full version probably has an endless mode, which is what these games are about for me. Extremely polished and pretty fun. Feels like a console game, which I'm learning is a pretty rare thing on any mobile platform.

Raiden Legacy - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.dotemu.raidenlegacy

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1LFSp41T1lQ

Same as the iOS version. Great emulated versions of Raiden, Raiden Fighters, RF2, and RF Jet. These games are awesome. The options aren't as fleshed-out as RF Aces.

Looks like the Cave games are on Android too. I seriously can't find a fucking thing by browsing Play store, so my best bet is usually to take a guess at a game that I'd like and then check the recommendations based on that. There seems to be a reasonable Japanese doujinsoft presence in the market, so I'm trying to explore that more.

Battleheart was great on iOS a while back so this is probably as good

Chaos Rings and FF Dimensions are available on the Android marketplace too. I haven't bought Dimensions yet ($20 seems way out of line for a cellphone game) but Chaos Rings is worth the $4 I paid for it.

New Star Soccer is a lot of fun if you haven't played it yet.

Dungelot (mentioned above) is cool, but I wish it were a bit deeper and the characters you unlock actually powerful.
