Going there in late October for two weeks. Planning to spend some time in Oahu and Maui and maybe a few days on The Big Island if there's anything to see. You know places to see, eat and the best dumpsters to visit :-*

EAT THE TARO BREAD OMG ITS FUCKING AMAZING!!!!!!!
-
Never been, but if I was gonna go to Hawaii, I'd want to take surfing lessons and go snorkeling.
-
Look for Obama's birth certificate.
-
Hawaii was awesome. Was only there for a few days and mostly stayed around Waikiki. Would recommend renting a car; tons of places to go see.
-
Isn't non-scenic and tourist Hawaii an absolute shithole and the people are the biggest assholes on the planet, that's what I've always heard.
Probably do some nice nature hikes + beachin'.
-
Look for Obama's birth certificate.
:lol
-
On Oahu, you should rent a car and drive up to the North Shore. Eat at a shrimp truck and Matsumoto's Shave Ice in Haleiwa, snorkel at Shark's Cove and buy some fruit from a vendor on the side of the road. The USS Arizona memorial is also worth checking out. Go body surfing at Sandy Beach.
Aside from that, hit up Kona Brewing (Big Island and Oahu) and Maui Brewing (Maui).
edit: Don't go to Hanauma Bay, it's a jam-packed tourist wasteland. Shark's Cove (or almost anywhere on the North Shore) is the better spot.
-
Any recommendations on places to stay in Oahu? I've got a place in Maui already booked, and wondering if it's worth staying in Honolulu or going a bit further north to get out of the city.
The main thing I'd like to know is if it's worth spending a few days on the Big Island or just concentrating on Oahu and Maui. I get the feeling if I try to hit three islands I'll end up missing something.

I'm a huge bread fan (love my sourdough :drool ) so I will definitely to that.
Fuck some bitches?
GF might be a bit upset if I do that. I'll see what she says.

Already planned, two people have been in contact with me about it...

I think I've got the lonely planet book at home do you want me to look it up for you? Might be a few years old though.
-
I think the GF has that, she's got a thousand books on the place already. You'd think we were migrating there.
-
Damn looks like she's the one that's going to be the one telling you what to do :lol
-
Haha never
...

I'm sure there are nice girls there too. :)

I fly out today :hyper

Everything.
Hawaii is awesome :)
edit* Have a great trip!!!! :borys :borys

The strip in Waikiki is pretty terrible after day or so. Nothing but tourist trap restaurants and bars. Get a car and head up to the North Shore or check out Chinatown in Honolulu for some good food.

Ditto everything that Mr. Gundam said, plus get Cheeseburger in Paradise; there's one just park-side of the strip in Waikiki, but the one on Maui in Lahaina is much cooler. Go about 40 minutes before sunset, so you can get a table with a view. Best. Hamburger. Experience. EVAR.
Also, beaches on the North Shore are very nice, though east side can also be lovely. Just rent a car, circle the island, and stop anywhere that looks nice.

Sitting in honolulu airport waiting for my connecting flight to Kona. 5 days there then 5 in Maui and 4 in Oahu. Hiring cars in the first two islands and will get one for a day to get to the Oahu north shore. Looking forward to seeing some volcanos tomorrow :rock
Do any airlines have flights without babies or young kids? I had 4 at once at around 2am and 2 others every 30 mins. Tired as all fuck now :-\
-
Don't buy any weed in the tourist areas of Hawaii. Same deal as Jamaica, you hafta know somebody to get the good stuff.
-
YOU KNOW WHAT MUST BE DONE.
Kona Brewing Company
Maui Brewing
:rock
-
DID YOU TRY THE TARO BREAD YET
-
Don't smoke anything so I'm fine. There's a Kona brewing co like 100ft from my hotel as i type this.
Also I checked out some tv in the hotel room, NHK news had a story on about a seal.
Where do I get this taro bread on the big island?
-
You can get Taro Bread most everywhere. The McDonalds over there have taro pies, too.
Also, find a Beard Papa (they're all over the islands). The ones in Hawaii make bread pudding with the cream puffs. It's killer.

:bow Kona brewing co :bow2

Maui is even better. It's ridiculous how much better Maui Brewing is.
-
Yeah, that struck me as weird. And the Maui stuff is all over the islands, but only Kona Brewing is in Japan.
Actually, no, wait. There was Maui Brewing in Semboku when I bought the last batch of Stone, but IT WAS ¥700/can.
-
Going volcanoing tomorrow. Went to hapuna bay today which was amazing.

Fun fact: Kona Brewing on the mainland is contract brewed in Portland, OR.
Maui is pretty expensive here, too. A 6-pack of cans at my neighborhood Whole Foods is like $13.

Wtf fox here aren't showing the world series. Surely the only way to see it here is for those with the MLB network??
Edit: nevermind, forgot the time difference.
Also Arbys is fucking terrible
-
While you're in the USA, you should visit a sports bar to watch sports, and have brewskis and greasy food with other people of a similar mind! I tried to do it for a UFC match, while I was on The Big Island on the night of a BJ Penn title defense, no less!
Like you, I forgot about the time difference, and missed it by a day.
There is not enough:
:fbm
-
Luckily there is a bj penn fight next weekend but ill be in Honolulu. Will be out that night for sure, and its also halloween weekend!
-
Leaving big island for Maui tomorrow. A little bit sad because it's the only beachfront accommodation we've booked. Also wish I'd checked that the captain cook monument was only available by kayak or trail, thought I could drive there :(
-
Rent a very small car!
-
Got a ford fusion this time in Maui.
Also why can't I get aerosol deodorant anywhere? Everything in only roll on. Is that some American thing or is it because you can't take spray deodorant on a plane so they don't sell it.

...
You can get it, but 99.9% of everyone uses the roll on kind.
-
It's like the opposite in Australia.
In breaking news I'm going to a time share seminar tomorrow to save $150+ on a luau. :gloomy
-
Don't do it!
Seriously, don't do it. You'll never get out of there alive.
-
But its a saving of $150+ :(
-
So we ended up just paying full price and doing some other stuff instead which was a much better deal. Luau was awesome, wish I'd gone to one on the big island too
Maui brewing co was really shit compared to Kona. The beer was ok but not as nice and the place was terrible.
Also it's no surprise that Americans are fat fucks (besides ridiculously huge portions and being lazy fucks too), Mcdonalds was offering a free big Mac with a big Mac meal just because it was a Monday.
-
That's not very nice.
-
Yes it was phenomenal. I want to go to another one now but they're expensive. Off to Waikiki today for pearl harbor and shopping etc...
