A couple of times for domestic flights when I was in college.  The flight stewardesses were always nice enough to set me up with another flight for no charge.  They probably won't or can't do that now because the economy is in shitters and flight companies need to squeeze every penny.

I've missed connecting flights when the international flight arrives late.

It sucks. Spending more than an hour in an airport is really sucky, even in the executive lounge.

I've never missed a flight, but I also grew up in a family so anal about making every appointment that I arrive ridiculously early for important stuff like transportation arrangements.

Do they serve free food and drinks in the executive lounge?

No, but earlier this year my grandma missed one after TSA found a bullet in her bag lol; my mom got held up with her. She was held for a few hours before being allowed to get on the next flight. She refuses to talk about the ordeal, but we're pretty sure she carries it because it's one of my granddad's old lucky charms (from WWII).

They have same drinks and snacks that will be found in the airline's Business Class section for that flight. So the international lounge has wine, beer, hard alky-hawl and mixers, and then sandwiches, pastries, and packaged nuts. For me the main draw is no-one is bogarting the wall socket, and you can sit without sharing an armrest.

They're nice, but you're still spending 5 hours in a single room, killing time.

I missed one once, my cab was late so I got to the airport just as the flight was closing. I didn't have a flexible fair but they moved me to the next flight anyway. That flight was leaving every 25mins or so, wasn't a big deal.
