Title: Official THE BORE College Football Thread of Death Sentences - 2011

lol. Will there be one less team in the ACC this year? Guess there's one negative to fucking a hooker.

Will Kentucky finally beat Florida and Tennessee, especially when both teams are weak? (not like Kentucky is any stronger this year than usual)

Will Michigan finally be good? Or will they get Dantonio'ed? What about Ohio State? Can a merchandising scandal give Maurice the victory he's been longing for?

hasn't won in ten years.  :P

Anyways, been listening to a lot of ESPN radio lately and the idea Miami could get off scot free because it happened in the past keeps coming out. WUT? I doubt it.

It wouldn't really matter if Miami gets hit with the death penalty, but no punishment to one of the biggest repeat offenders in college football would be pretty offensive, especially after the USC/Tennessee/Ohio State shit going on this summer.

Meanwhile, what about this TCU - Baylor game? Guess the non-AQs are going to start getting shit really early this year now that TCU is taking a shit on national television.

The gif says it all. If we struggle against Central Michigan, I'm probably going to write this year's team off. It is a rebuilding year for the Cats anyways considering basically our entire offense is in the NFL this year.

How did you not expect Nebraska to get steamrolled by Wisconsin? While the Huskers still beat Washington, they let them run ALL OVER THE FIELD scoring 38 points and 440 yards of total offense. As soon as they played a top-tier school, I had a feeling we'd see them for who they really are.

I'm sure my father-in-law in Omaha is bummed right now, even though he knew this was going to happen.

Michigan got exposed hard today. Denard Robinson is an amazing athlete and a nice guy...but he's not a quarterback. He's capable enough for screens and playing catch with receivers , but he can't hit guys in motion. His footwork is horrible, he's not accurate at all, and any good defense can shut the passing game down with good man coverage.

In short, he can't run the pro style offense. I was surprised that Michigan won its first Big Ten games but that luck is about to end.

I saw last week's Stanford-USC. That game was the reverse of this: Killer Offenses, TERRBLE Defenses. The PAC also cranks out consistently good QBs.

But the SEC, Overrated?

HELL NAW SON

Then fall to a pumped up, on-fire Oregon.

Besides that shitty first game. I'd rather take killer offenses so the game is actually fucking exciting.

that bama lsu game was not worth watching

sorry southerners

A SEC team playing Stanford would be interesting. It would be interesting to see the SEC athleticism have to play an offense that can read your defense and adjust, can run or pass on you any down and has a QB that will beat you with the run if you overpress. Right now it looks like LSU just scares bad QBs and reacts to panic in the offense.

Andrew Luck has never faced a D-Line OR Secondary like LSU or Bama's (USCw's ain't close, sorry bluemax), so nobody knows what the fuck would happen. Neither one of those clubs have seen a QB as skilled as Luck either. Lot to think about in this hypothetical matchup.

I agree though, PUTRID offense displayed tonight by both teams.

that game last night was only interesting because of vested interest. really wish ol' boy wouldn't have stepped out of bounds at the end, so there could have been ONE touchdown. I don't really know why some are wanting a rematch. who wants to go through that again? I'd much rather they both win out and then rolling curbstomp whoever they get set up with.

I would love love love LSU/Stanford (Boise lol), but don't see it happening. still unsure who will even play for the MNC.

I see Oregon beating Stanford, and their fans becoming unbearable again. I like Oregon, but their fans are the worst.
OU has a good chance to beat OSU (I like, but don't trust) and weasel into another big bowl failure. Hopefully they get stuck in the Fiesta.
LSU has shat the bed vs. Arkansas lately, so they are in no way guaranteed anything. still some distance left to run :'(
At least we have like, Western Kentucky up next!

http://www.nytimes.com/2011/11/06/sports/ncaafootball/former-coach-at-penn-state-is-charged-with-abuse.html
Quote
Another boy attended as many as 15 football games as Mr. Sandusky’s guest; Mr. Sandusky brought him into a shower on campus and made the boy touch his genitals, the grand jury said. He placed his hands down the pants of another boy who spent the night at Sandusky’s house before home games, the grand jury said.

A graduate assistant for the team told the grand jury he alerted Mr. Paterno in 2002 that he had seen Mr. Sandusky sexually assaulting a boy in the shower at the Lasch Football Building on the Penn State campus. The graduate student told the grand jury he went to Mr. Paterno’s home the next day and described what he had seen. Mr. Paterno, in turn, told Mr. Curley.

About a week and a half later, Mr. Curley and Mr. Schultz met with the graduate assistant, then told Mr. Sandusky that he could not bring any children from the Second Mile onto campus, a ban the grand jury said Mr. Curley acknowledged was “unenforceable.” The university officials did not alert law enforcement, Ms. Kelly said.

Mr. Schultz testified to the grand jury that there was a similar incident involving a young boy in the football shower with Mr. Sandusky in 1998. The mother of that boy confronted Mr. Sandusky at her home, with two police detectives listening to the conversation. He told the woman, according to testimony by one of the detectives: “I was wrong. I wish I could get forgiveness. I know I won’t get it from you. I wish I were dead.”

Mr. Schultz, whose position includes oversight of the university police, testified that he did not know that the university police produced a lengthy report about the 1998 incident. The grand jury found the assertions by him that the 2002 allegations were “not that serious” and that he and Mr. Curley “had no indication that a crime had occurred” contradictory to other testimony.

...

“I never had any type of idea or suspicions about anything like that,” Kennedy said. “All the kids loved him.”

The grand jury report concluded with an incident that it said occurred in 2000, during a week when the Nittany Lions were away from campus for a game. Late at night, a janitor cleaning the football building said he observed Mr. Sandusky performing oral sex on a boy in a shower. Another worker that night found the shaken janitor, who said, “I just witnessed something in there I’ll never forget.”
What is this I don't even.

I've been do an LSU game, the fans were pretty cool and the women were hot. No complaints from me.

While I've run into bad fans from many schools, the absolute worst fans/people in general that I've come across were at Ohio State. As in making little kids with Michigan jerseys on cry, spitting on people, etc. No class

Edit: Okay in comparison to spitting on kids, I guess Oregon fans are merely annoying.

He's a fan of his school/team, of course he's going to defend it jeez. I've never heard anything about Oregon having mean fans until today.

Any "worst fans in college sports" list is probably not going to list them either. Ohio State, Duke, Notre Dame, USC, and Penn State would definitely make lists

The worst are UGA fans, and I went to UGA so I can say that.  The majority of the team's fans didn't go, are fucking stupid, and ignore the quality pro franchises in the state in order to stupidly cheer on a team that's usually shitty in a sport that's fucking distinguished mentally-challenged.

Oregon gets a lot of flak for having Phil Knight from Nike as a sugardaddy, and conversely because we have something like 350 different uniforms so every time Oregon plays, any thread I go to (most notably on GAF) is filled with "oh my god look it's a typical terrible Oregon uniform" even when our uniforms have been, on the whole, pretty awesome.

While we do have a reputation, and I'm not denying that, we get a lot of bandwagon hate for no reason.

That may be, but it still doesn't discredit Spencer's take on the situation.

I've got a lot of family that live in Eugene. None of them went to UO, but they're all crazy Duck fans. I root for the Ducks as long as they're not playing the Huskies, but I will admit that Spencer isn't spouting off baseless hatred.
Title: Re: Official THE BORE College Football Thread of Death Sentences - 2011

I think it all has to do with who you're in contact with. I've lived in Eugene for four and a half years and there's a pretty big division between insane and sane Duck fans. The insane Duck fans are the ones who go to bars to watch the game and proceed to yell as if they were at the game. The sane Duck fans know we have strengths and weaknesses and we don't shit on other teams very much.

Hell, I spend every game critiquing my Ducks up until we're pulling away a win. I know that we're not perfect; there are a lot of fans who think we are and they are wrong.

I will admit to shitting on Stanford last week for having terrible receivers, though.

I don't care about the Nike ties, that's their benefit. Good for them.

For years Oregon was always the punching bag of the Pac-10, and now they're good. REALLY GOOD. It's a little weird for those of us up in Washington, and I'm sure that people in Eugene are still learning how to be winners.

Oh yeah, my wife's cousin is the receivers coach for Oregon. He always has TONS of free Nike shit to hand out at Christmas.

Having been born into a Duck family and lived in Oregon my whole life, my impression is that, as is the case with most college football fan bases, there are good and bad Ducks fans. My family and friends who attend/have attended U of O are on the good side. They're knowledgeable about football, they don't trash other teams (unless it's Washington, but everyone has a rival, Dawgs fans don't pull any punches either), and they're realistic about the strength of the program. They get appropriately nervous for harder games, and they're attentive to the team's play in the easier games. On the other hand, there exist lots of brainless Ducks fans out there who really just don't appreciate football. Like I said, I feel like this is typical of most college football programs.

Which is why I wear it sometimes.

Luck is only as good as his receivers let him be. They completely shit the bed against us and made Luck look superbly overrated.

They're probably the best NFL team that had the #1 pick in some time; obviously they sucked this year, but the team has lots of talent and would be in the playoffs if Manning was healthy. Call me when college football has at least an 8 team playoff system, otherwise it's basically just ice dancing.

If it makes you feel better, your state still leads the nation in cases of gonorrhea per capita.

I haven't seen defensive domination like that since Baltimore won the Superbowl over the Giants.

That game might have been the best thing to happen to the BCS in some time. It got low ratings and has largely been panned: ie we're closer to something being done about the system. It'll take awhile but eventually we will have a playoff season

To be fair though, a playoff system would have resulted in those teams playing in the finals anyway lol

Not like they had to try, LSU was dead on that fucking field. Simply put the worst performance I've seen all season from, well, any team.

92 yards of total offense. 92 YARDS.

err LSU was dead on the field because of Alabama's defense. Best believe LSU would run a train on any other team

The way Bama's D played last night, nobody would've put up much fight. If OSU would've played, they might have gotten a TD or 2, but Bama would have ran up the middle for 30-40 pts and fucked Weeden in the face like one of PD's Blacks On Blondes sluts. Same for Oregon and Stanford (lolz). A playoff would've ended in the same championship game.

Kentucky may be TURRBLE at football but we propped the conference up in BBall forever and a day. Nice to finally get some TV money we didn't hafta earn single-handedly.

I just can't take Pac-10 and Big-10 fans seriously when they pull the "HURR HURR how bout that offense HUH" card. Best believe your lanky (slow in the Big-10's case) athletes would be left broken on the field against either Bama or LSU

No, I'm pretty sure that whole fucking team was playing shit. Look at Jefferson's horrid, garbage, poopshit throws and the completely open routes LSU's defense had on every play. Sure, we could also place that on the fact that they had to play a long time, but man...

I can't take you seriously when you can't acknowledge that it wasn't just Alabama's D that ruined the game. A terrible QB combined with superbly vanilla plays that Alabama could easily see through (which is funny, considering LSU's penchant for trick plays)... and you have a team that could be destroyed by anyone.

But really, the crux of the issue is why Les Miles didn't take out a QB that was obviously just throwing the whole fucking game. His response post-game was baffling; Lee should have been put in after the first quarter.
