:(
A cat ran across the street and I avoided it but it turns out a raccoon was chasing after the cat and it I hit it with the side of my car. When I looked at the side and rear view mirrors it was struggling and flopping around really bad but it was still alive so I called the police and they said they'd send someone to check on it. How do I find out if it's ok?
-
Sorry dont want to make fun of this :(
-
No ones going to check on it. The police laughed it off, and the raccoon is dying a slow slow death if a larger predator hasn't gotten to it already.

Look at it this way: you saved a kitty.

Imagine that because of her phonecall someone that was getting murdered couldn't get through :'(

It probably had rabies.

End of a meme :(

The coon should have looked both ways. It's really just a failure of its parents not teaching it right.
-
That raccoon only had an associate's degree anyway. It would never aspire to be something.
-
It happens. The only thing you can do in that situation is back over and finish it off.

I met a Prairie dog on the road once, his back half run over with his guts splattered, his front half was crawling for life. After passing it I passed back and saw it still struggling, so I made a U-turn lined him up and put him out.

I had to take a motor vehicle safety class where a highway patrolman completely changed my views on avoiding animals on the highway. He had a slideshow full of pictures of horrible wrecks where the driver swerved to avoid a deer and ended up killing themselves or others. His advice: hit the deer.
Yep, and I'm pretty sure your car insurance won't cover damages from swerving off the road either.

Maybe it was an evil racoon
-
lol you called the cops for that?

she's an angel
I'm sure the cops were laughing afterward going "awwww so cute!"

Yeah in my motorcycle class the advice on small animals crossing your path was to look forward and "prepare to surmount the obstacle"
It's like overcoming adversity in physical manifestation form!

women :lol

The police have a million better things to do than to check on a status of a raccoon. The raccoon probably died a slow death of internal damage unless someone else ran it over after you did. Also swerving out of the way of an animal is extremely unsafe for yourself and others.
I know you effete urban hipster types probably have no idea about raccoons unless Arcade Fire sang a song about them but they are evil, nasty animals.
-
We passed the area today and didn't see a body or anything so hopefully the police were able to take it to the animal shelter or hospital down the street...

dawwwww, cg <3

Or a coyote picked it up and had an easy dinner :-\

Fast forward to 1:38 and replace the cow with the raccoon.
That'll put your conscience to rest. No need to thank me.

We have racoons in the city. Hell, a pair of them lived in our big tree a couple years ago. Scared the shit out of our cat.
-
Racoons seem aloof to me. Nothing sinister about them.
Look at it this way Gemini. You are a factor in natural selection. Future generations of racoons will have developed instincts to avoid traffic/roadways. Think of the thousands of critters who will survive thanks to you weeding the dumb stock out of the gene pool.
