Sony will release the first in its line of Android-fueled PlayStation tablet computers in September, the company said Wednesday.
The wedge-shaped Sony Tablet S will feature a 9.4-inch touchscreen and weigh 1.3 pounds. Two models of the tablet will ship: a 16-GB version for $500 and a 32-GB version for $600. Most importantly, it will be “PlayStation Certified” — meaning you can purchase and download PlayStation games to play on the go.
The tablet will ship with free versions of PlayStation platformer Crash Bandicoot and PSP pinball game Pinball Heroes. You’ll also be able to access Sony’s PlayStation Store to download music, videos and other games.
Sony plans to release its second model, the clamshell Sony Tablet P, later this year. Resembling Nintendo’s handheld DS, the Tablet P is the first tablet designed to use two screens.

Tomb Raider will be a joy to play with that set-up!

I sort of like the idea of a flip tablet but it's so impractical.
-
I'm waiting for something that looks like that microsoft tablet that was all flippy floppy. All leather bound and what have you. shit's so exec.

Oh, THAT is going to work out well :lol
-
i like how crash is looking at the screen: "you actually bought this?"
-
Well it would be fine for RPG's like FF7.
If they actually released those on the droid market.
But they are keeping that for Vita/PSP.
-
Sony are clearly experts at miniaturization. It must be hard to incorporate that much fail into such a tiny, compact package.
-
PS Suite :lol
-
I like the form factor on the single screen tablet, seems like it would be comfortable to hold in one hand when reading, and gives it a little elevation for table watching/typing
- BUT -
apparently the companies making these tablets will never learn that no one's really going to buy non-iOS tablets at $500 iPad prices
people are buying the HP Touchpad at prices between $200-$300 on ebay (and that's after the fire sale), that's the sweet spot for a tablet that isn't an iPad
-
I'll wait till it fails and snatch one up for $99 :smug
-
What Sony brand? lol.
The S1 (or tablet S?) is a nice looking tablet, a lot of people are lauding that folded magazine design, but gaming on both of these, with that layout, seem impossible. I'd love to see someone play something requiring lots of shoulder button presses. It'll look like a game of twister.

Oh, THAT is going to work out well :lol
The icing on the cake would be you have to use the virtual d-pad and X button to select menu items.
-
well, yeah of course you'll have to. Its emulated PS1 software....
-
:lol Paying $500 and getting a free ps1 game.
Gee thanks

Wait, is one a flip form factor and one not? Is that the difference bewteen the 16gb and 32gb?
Edit: nvm, readiing fail
