lol if this thing is priced more than an actual console
-
everyone's making android tablets, will personally wait for the Keebler FudgeTab
-
Hopefully you can buy a used one for $5 cheaper. Not you eel, just in general.
-
hahaha would you like to trade in some games towards the purchase of this rebranded pandigital craptablet running android 1.6
-
honestly, it is not a bad idea if:
it is cheap
it can support more than one controller
it has hdmi out
-
It's gamestop. This thing will be the cheapest of the cheap chinese plastic and a shit screen. For $250 plus monthly sub.

Or just buy a console?

well, i do see some possibility, they could underwrite decent hardware with a contracted subscription for streaming and push them out the door for $99
big problem is streaming games still sucks

This. I was mildly interested when I read the headline in my RSS, but it's streaming-only? Bummer.
EDIT: Oh, mobile apps and streaming.

I can only imagine the level of pestering and misinformation that Gamestop's retail monkeys will be pushing on people about this thing.
"Can it play PS3 games?"
"Sure!"
"Okay, I'll take one. Here's my 599 US Dollars."
-
:fbm
-
If this really can stream PS3 games like that spawn box could, I'd be interested.
Of course it won't. It will be like OnLive and stream some shitty PC games no one cares about. And Modern Warfare. :P No way it sells for $99.
Yes way Gamestop monkeys try to push this on everyone who walks in.
-
they specified console game streaming, dunno what that means
and onlive, if the streaming worked well, would be a decent "secondary" gaming service - they have an okay selection of games and are getting the majority of the current ones, they tend to give away their microconsole for pre-orders of new releases, and you can use it on lower-powered devices like netbooks and tablets
-
Why would Sony or Microsoft allow games to be played on a competing "console?" I would assume this is just going to be some dumbed-down interface used to stream some ready-to-play PC games. And a tablet that needs a controller to go with it? Sounds comfortable!
No way this shit takes off.

i'm not a fan of gamestop, but they aren't run by idiots, at least as far as the moneymen go
i would imagine they're, you know, already in the process of making deals with various companies instead of just building the thing and going "look at what we did! everybody c'mon and make some games for it!"
like, say, nintendo
