45º viewing angle, some are saying its like looking at a huge theater screen (seems to have a great optical magnifier between the OLED and viewers eye). I wants it. Gonna retail for around $800-$1000 :'(

I'm gonna wear this while I'm driving my Segway.

$800+ is too much but this looks cool. Probably the best way to experience 3D since it's two tiny OLED screens.
I'm hoping the sony style store had one to check out. I don't understand how it is a theater experience. It looks like some virtual reality headset from epcot, or that one beach arcade game.

I believe the "theater experience" is in regards to how much of your vision is engulfed by the OLED screens via the optical magnifier. 45º is almost to the point where you have to use your peripheries.
Bundled with backpack and battery so I can play 3D PS3 games like Resistance 3 on the go?
I think the only way that would be possible is if they update the unit to work with Vita. As it is now its purely a home based HMD (its tied to an actual unit that sits apart from the HMD). The optics company Zeiss is actually making a mobile one but with a 30º viewing angle and less magnification but they're more like glasses.

Looks like a bumper car.

Haven't they made devices like this before? They always have much worse picture quality than real TVs.
Speaking of 3D, I finally got to try 3d gaming on a 50" TV with Motorstorm, Killzone 3 and Mortal Kombat.
+: surprisngly playable framerates, more immersion in first person view, some nice 3d effects like water splashing onto the screen in Motorstorm
-: much blurrier than 2D (not a TV problem because 3D movies look way better), first person games were almost unplayable because it's hard to keep changing focus
Overall, it was interesting for 30 minutes but :yuck if I had to keep playing in 3D. I've got nothing against 3d BTW. I think Nvidia's implementation is great and I'm just waiting for a 3D monitor with better 2D image. The main problem I have with PS3 3D is that everything is so blurred out that I can't even see WTF is going on.

They take such a ridiculous fillrate hit when they do 3D that it's blur city. The hardware has enough problem making one 1280x720 frame let alone two :(

I think, in this case, the fact they've found a way to use OLED's in the homespace without the need to scale the tech to be usable in much larger screens is awesome. These OLED screens are the Samsung made ones too which are supposed to have great response times and contrast ratio. Remains to be seen how it stands up against actual TVs besides paper specs but everything I've read about these OLEDs has been nothing but good response.
The 3D implementation is supposed to be much better than dedicated TVs too due to each eye having a dedicated screen. I believe the optics in the unit utilize diopters which would mean people that wear glasses wouldn't need to wear the unit over their specs. Just tune the unit to your own eyes.

I think this is why there's a bit of a clamor for this device to be used with a PC. If Sony pulls another Sony with it and only allows it to be used with the PS3 (And Bravia 3D TVs only!) then I think the usefulness of the device will drop a bit. It needs to be open.
But yeah, PS3 definitely isn't ready for 3D primetime in the gaming space. I remember seeing how Killzone 3 scales to 3D and stifled a laugh. It looked awful.

that PS3 exclusivity thing...yeah, I would totally buy those new wireless headphones if it wasn't for that. Technically it works on PC too, but only in stereo mode. Worst part? even on the PS3 the virtual 7.1 is only for games. Blu-rays are only stereo.

Sony already has a decent working relationship with Nvidia. It'd be cool if Sony could come up with a deal to get compatiblity with Nvidia 3D as well. I would definitely get one if that happens and the image quality is good. I've always thought it was pretty cool to have a virtual theater in your face. Additionaly, blocking out all ambient light would likely improve picture quality significantly.
