Best story since the renaissance

What's the price on a beast like that? Can't imagine you could get it for less than $1,500.
-
jismz
keep us updated

My version ended up around 2,400 after moving the options around. The RoGs are still fantastic values, but there's something about having a 17 inch monster that shits out games at high velocity thats fun to own.

Nice. :lol

I had a sager/something a few laptops ago. I kind of appreciated it's lack of build quality, as in "yeah we could but you don't care, let's toss some more memory in there chap"
-
2,400 for a laptop? damn MAF you rich. Let's get married! :hyper

YOU WOULD JUST WANT ME TO TALK TO YOU ABOUT FEELINGS AND IF YOU'RE FAT
No I wouldn't :'( .. wait, DO you think I'm fat? :-\
-
You should have waited for the Razer Blade, the only true gaming laptop. :smug
-
That's no Windows 8.
-
yeah that's what i do with mine. looks fucking awesome hooked up to the t.v., plus i still have quality gaming in my lap when the missus comes home & wants to watch aweful romcoms.
main downside is that i always have to sit next to an outlet in class because this only gets about an hour on the battery even on "power saver" settings
-
There's an 18.4 inch, that was too much

Any reason why you didn't go with a loaded desktop instead?
-
Figured a budget laptop was safer in this economy.
-
2,400
budget laptop
???
-
oh, he said desktop- thought he was being CLEVER.
I already have a loaded desktop- but I wanted a loaded laptop for when im at a friends house or visiting parents or just to look at to remind myself how lucky I am
-

Because he's not poor?
-
I'll be poor again someday probably- I want to sit in my cardboard box knowing that for one brief moment, I LIVED

Not bad, .2 under my desktop score - wait, probably even- main rig has same SSD and it drops to lowest score, so its 7.6 too.
-
my primary hard disk is stuck at 5.9 and brings the entire score down :'( (two 7.4s and two 7.8s otherwise)
-
My laptop has a 4.6 :(
-
yeah the hard disk scores are kinda harsh imo- even a 10,000 rpm drive gets a 5.8 I think, and you need to do RAID to get higher than 7.6 I think
-
My processor is outdated. :fbm

my desktop graphics card is outdated :fbm
-
AMD? You and Van Cruncheon have been on the AMD bandwagon the last few years.
-
I have an nvidia card in my desktop!
-
470?
-
close, 480
-
480 was a good card but it was hot as hell. You seriously could fry an egg on it. I upgraded to 580s just because I couldn't stand the 480s heat.
-
I've never really noticed- then again im in WA so I dunno
-
I just upgrayedded to a 560 ti. nvidia 4 lyfe.
I was going to go AMD/ATI but that batman deal sold me
-
I think the 480 went up to 105c or more in my room, even worse because I had two of them.
-
I only had one- I dont generally splurge for sli since im a filthy casual pc gamer that doesnt even have benchmark apps installed

Since most of PC Bore is already in this thread, I'll ask my question here rather than start a new thread:
I need a new processor and motherboard for my PC and I'm looking for an Intel i5. Any good combo deals out there are specific products I should check out? By the way, I'm trying to spend around $300-$350.

GAF (and Newegg) seems to love the 2500K. That's all I got. Everything I know (which isn't much) I know from their PC building thread and these builds: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/pub?hl=en_US&key=0AvaYhPmP5kwadHZsOW9QVFRkZEpzcUplak5zZFUyYnc&hl=en_US&gid=0
I'm pretty set on building a PC this fall/winter. I'll start buying components on Black Friday, I guess.
-
I havent been looking at desktop stuff in a while so I dunno :( - someone fire up the Prole signal

Well Sandy Bridge-EX comes out in Q4 2011 but according to Wikipedia the cheapest one is $294 so that'll probably be out of your price range. It's possible that they'll drop the price of the 2600K when EX comes out though so maybe wait and see if that happens. Other than that I'd say either get the 2500K or wait till Ivy Bridge which is supposed to hit around March 2012 depending on how long you're willing to hold off upgrading.
For bundle deals you could try something like this: http://us.ncix.com/products/?sku=63352&vpn=i52500K%26Z68XP-UD3&manufacture=Bundle%20Deals&promoid=1365
NCIX and Newegg should both have some decent bundle offers. I know that NCIX gets new ones each week, not sure how often Newegg updates.
-
I'm not in a really big hurry to upgrade, my Core 2 Duo is still working pretty well. I figure either the end of this year or sometime early next year, most likely.
